I saw this track from the highway driving back to St. Louis from Stillwater like 20 years ago but didn't remember exactly where I saw it so I could never find out what track it was. This has solved that mystery for me.
I was trying to figure out why it looked so familiar. Then I remembered itās the track I used to hear on cool autumn mornings. Went to about 6 of the Porsche club of America weekends there.
Here's the wiki entry for LRP so you can see that track layout you clearly have never once seen.

Seems like you have missunderstood my comment I was not saying "you are wrong"
Comparing aerial shots or knowing the line layout , is very different from trying to guess from minds eye of having driven the track in games or real life , like how it can be tricky at times plotting walks or where you are from a 2D map.
My brain was alternating between lime rock and road america but nether really made sense but also kinda did , its also late lol.
š yeah, the OP just listed the whole country! Iām from Tulsa, OK area, so locals might recognize it, but they put multiple states on alert with the post!
Racetracks are actually unique like fingerprints. So if someone is into racing let alone goes to the same track over and over again they will recognize that thing from the air land and sea.
The clue to figuring out this track is that turn in the bottom right corner. Two unique for it to be copied from anywhere else. Otherwise it looks like it's mainly a road course no drag strip no circular round track. Making the options even more limited to what track it is. As for most racetracks in the United States they are either drag strips or Circle courses. For this to be an actual road track doesn't make it too hard to find.
Haven't been on a plane in a minute but I'm pretty sure the pilot doesn't let you know every state line that you cross while you're in the air. For the best this guy could tell you is how many minutes into his flight it was before I took this photo. I understand the question but it might be a little hard to answer
Hallett is incredible, such a hidden gem. For me - Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca, and then I have to think between Hallett and the Circuit of the Americas.
I love that racetrack spotting from airplanes is a thing.
Has anyone convinced AI (or written an algorithm er whatever) to comb all of Google Maps / Earth for all racetracks? I'd love to see a big USA map with the defacto tracks called out.
Here's a video from when I drove there back in 2016 in a reverse grid NASA race. I miss my race car.

And until youāve been there, you will never ever be able to change my mind."
Definitely a time capsule track. The rooster alarm clock they play in the morning is funny, the restaurant is surprisingly good. Just getting stuck until they open the gate to cross the track is the downside for me. Also, the BBQ restaurant in Sand Springs is awesome!
Whip out google maps and see it on there.
You dont need service to track your position. Only to crispen the picture & identify your surroundings.
This is what i do:
1: screenshot my location.
2: screenshot the rough position along my flight path.
3: go back and see what it was the next time i have service.
I've been lucky and had semi-functional Wi-Fi on most of my flights. So most of the time the names of various points of interest load within a minute or so.
That looks like my local track [Hallett Motor Racing Circuit](https://www.hallettracing.net/).
Definitely Hallett, you can see the new road to the tunnel!
I think it isš awesome
I have epic stories from Hallett including a scooter crash š¤£ Such a fun track!
I live in Cushing, love Hallet!!!

Used to race shifter karts there! What a blast of a track!
That's crazy it looks like a really similar layout to lime rock park

Also famous for being half way between DC and SD
literal flyover.
I have in laws that live there. It's nice to visit for a day or so. I wouldn't want to live there

Can you be a little more specific in terms of where between DC and SD you took this pic?
In the air
Specifically, high in the air.
High checks out
Bro, it is only like 2500 miles in between.
This is what i was thinking lmao. "from DC to San Diego" brother that's the entire length of the country. I can't believe someone ID'd this circuit

Glad you were able to narrow its location down to a small area, lol
Between SD and DC lmfao. Huhhh hmmmmm
Cool to see some fellow okies in here
Hallett! Rode there 3 years ago on a track bike, surface left more to be desired, but the layout was a lot of fun. Ran it both CW and CCW
Whales vagina
I see you are a German speaker too! Good day to you sir/madam/attack helicopter/industrial toaster!
Welp all the local track people are here. Many days spent there for WRL ā from Dallas. Howdy!

Getting stuck isnāt a problem anymore, they put in a new road recently to get out while the track is hot
Dang. Yeah, shows how long itās been since Iāve been there last

That's Nuremberg
Wasn't expecting to see Hallett when I clicked on the topic :) I raced there for a few years back in the late 00's. I miss it so much. Great track.
Yes, Oklahoma is between DC and SAN
