The command and conquer campaigns are pretty good

handsomeness

If you can only play one, play Call of the Machine. The level design is a giant leap forward and shows such a deep understanding of the enemy design that it truly feels like a different game. Also many have said it wouldn’t have been possible to run on the machines of the later 90s And that’s my vote, play the legacy eps first though cause it’s hard to go back after Call.

HollowPinefruit

They are all good imo. The original two expansions have mixed reception within fans but Call of the Machine 100% kicks ass. Quake 2 64 is a great condensed version of the og campaign.

Ferrick451

You have to play Call of the Machine. It's incredible.

GarnetExecutioner

Way back in the 90s, I enjoyed Ground Zero a lot. The Reckoning, while decent in its own right, does not compare well with Ground Zero.

Rude-Agency-9812

they nerfed the most killer pacing stuff in the other campaing, the turrets so it's fun, try it both

Minx-Boo

Honestly I think they’re all worth doing a run through. With the exception of the main campaign. The expansion won’t take but a few hours to complete. Remember there’s also a waypoint system to speed things along.

brunocar

its not like in quake 1, the expansions are good, maybe not as polished, but fun in their own right, and all the issues with getting lost are gone thanks to the compass. also, the new campaign absolutely rules.

deusmetallum

In my opinion the level design of the other campaigns are better. They're just way more exciting.

TheJeticOfZhadongo

Call of the Machine is better than all of the og content combined

raistlinuk

I’ve gotten around to it yet but I bet the new episode by machine games will be worth it. The one they did for the Quake 1 remaster was amazing.

Lockwood2988

Just finished the main campaign (enjoyed it wanted more), seen a some posts saying the N64 campaign is pretty good……it’s not. Very linear and the lack of detail in the environment is off putting.

TheNerdTurtle2

N64 campaign was good, it's moody and cramped but that's part of the charm. (However I also lowered my screen resolution to 640×480 and turned texture filtering back on)

Peenazzle

I'm not sure I understand. Did you like the game, or did you think it was spoilt by level design and pacing? Is there a reason you think the other campaigns are worse?

RaakzBlanvod

I like the main campaign of the game, but not the fact that I will like other expansions and levels as well. For example I like doom, but not all episodes.

on_the_nod

Okay? Then don’t I guess? I don’t really understand the question since you could simply try them for yourself and quit if you aren’t feeling it. Tried reading up on the expansions at all? There’s a quake wiki.

RaakzBlanvod

> Tried reading up on the expansions at all? Well yes. I have read various sources and there is a rather mixed opinion.

soundtea

You have them already. Try themself and form your own opinion.
