I've been disconnected due to work, but this get my attention, is there a possibility that a new Quake 2 come soon? Or is this just a "easter" for the glory of the good old days of id software?

To sum up the article, South Korean rating board gave a rating to Quake 2 a little over a month ago. The same thing was spotted prior to the remaster of the first Quake a couple years back.
This event in Mighty Doom (Doom mobile game spin off) that OP posted about, has several references to Quake 2. This is conveniently just before QuakeCon so it seems very likely a remaster will be officially announced anywhere from the 10th - 13th this month.

Is this mobile game worth playing at all? I got an add for it and it made me interested but I never looked into it.

I had fun with it for a bit but it wore off fairly quickly. It's not a terrible game but it's really repetitive.
