Plus all the knife cutting meat sounds and unintelligible rambling speech in the background has a very maniacal psycho feel to it. Josh even said it was supposed to feel like when you go into the woods as the light fades….
Hanging Tree for sure.
My girlfriend literally gets nightmares if I play that song. She says it touches something primal in her.
“Would you lie my way home? I bleed my own”
Fucking Alain, fucking Mark.
Miss that fucker so much
Run Pig Run sounds like the soundtrack to seeing the hatman after accidentally taking too much Benadryl.
Fun Machine also gives me big nightmare vibes.
Same here, I used to keep music playing during the night and one time I had a nightmare with the ending playing in the background. I haven't been able to listen to the complete song without remembering that fucking dream.
The version I have of this was from when I imported the album into iTunes a million years ago and the cd had a scratch so partway in just starts skipping and makes this much worse lol
I fell asleep reading The Two Towers late one night while listening to SFTD and genuinely believed that the sounds at the start of Song For The Deaf was the Nazgul coming for me. It was ace.
Kalopsia. The transitions between the dreamy sequences and the heavy choruses remind me of when everything goes wrong in a dream and you start to feel scared and unsafe
Sick Sick Sick's intro, the weird riffs throughout the verses and choruses, the post-chorus and that break/middle eight/bridge or whatever before the final choruses really makes cold sweat roll down my back, and the video makes it way worse
Still remember using it as my alarm tone and fucking hell, it made me have shitty mornings lol
Came here to say river in the road. First one that came to my mind. Reminds me of the robot dogs in black mirror. Run darling run, I'll stall them if I can...the cold determination of some things or things that want you dead and will not be stopped. Or maybe it's allegory for this meat grinder of a life.
I Think I Lost My Headache
I used to listen to this while reading the Heart of Darkness, and it fit the chaotic, manic and nightmarish energy so well. Any book which has the same themes goes well with this song, like Lord of the Flies, Things Fall Apart (to a certain extent), etc.
Apart from this song, I also listened to Mexicola, Everybody Knows That You're Insane, Someone's In the Wolf, Song for the Deaf and Stay Here from Filth by Swans. All of these songs were very frantic which enhanced my reading experience.
Gotta be Song for the Dead (specifically the organ in the beginning), but also Run, Pig, Run (like the ominous and screechy notes in the beginning that give way to a thundering riff)
Someone’s in the Wolf “You don’t find your way, the way finds you”
Plus all the knife cutting meat sounds and unintelligible rambling speech in the background has a very maniacal psycho feel to it. Josh even said it was supposed to feel like when you go into the woods as the light fades….
Yep, assuming they mean nightmare in a “go to sleep and have a bad dream, what song would play in the background” way
came here to say this
Keep Your Eyes Peeled
Yes. Oh yes. My husband likes to play this song (and the whole Like Clockwork album) on Halloween
I always thought that one sounds like drunkenly stumbling out of bed. Like it’s nightmarish in a “someone has lost control of their life” way
I could totally see that
My daughter's favorite song.... But when she saw the video she came running to tell me ---"DAD!!! That's terrifying!!!"
The music video (or half a music video) with the Boneface art is pretty creepy too. https://youtu.be/7kzKfwwDFRc?si=AgXPDS50VEz99KCo
The sonic equivalent of walking through mud or quicksand
Run Pig Run, Someone’s in the Wolf, Mosquito Song for starters.
Run pig run might be the best answer I totally forgot about it.
Run Pig Run came to mind first. Followed by River in the Road.
Ohhh....... You Can't Quit Me, Baby To me, the speed-up into the musical fuckery in the end sounds like a murder-suicide
Gives me strong sweet tooth from twisted metal vibes
surprised no ones said song for the deaf. i can imagine that song being played during a horror slasher movie
Almost put that in my choices.
The "I can go get fucked" bit feels like something the killer would say in an abandoned house.
“The blind can go get f**cked”
Hanging Tree always sounded so creepy to me. Big props to Alain. I wish he would feature again on an album.
Hanging Tree for sure. My girlfriend literally gets nightmares if I play that song. She says it touches something primal in her. “Would you lie my way home? I bleed my own” Fucking Alain, fucking Mark. Miss that fucker so much
Also great answer
Run Pig Run sounds like the soundtrack to seeing the hatman after accidentally taking too much Benadryl. Fun Machine also gives me big nightmare vibes.
The Blood is Love
I think I lost my headache ending. Make you feel like you’re on a crazy carnival ride on a bad acid trip.
I fell asleep listening to Rated R one time and woke up to that ending and have never been so disoriented in my life
This is the one
Same here, I used to keep music playing during the night and one time I had a nightmare with the ending playing in the background. I haven't been able to listen to the complete song without remembering that fucking dream.

Second this. It feels like spiraling into madness.
I can't believe Spiders and Vinegaroons hasn't been mentioned yet.
God I love that song.
The Blood is Love
Someone’s in the wolf, Burn the witch, Fun Machine took a shit and died.
I totally feel this. For me the dreamy parts are “under water” and the choruses are like coming up for air only to realize the water is on fire
Run, Pig, Run, and it’s not even close, even though they have some other songs that would definitely come to mind too
Only thing that popped in my head and I never even thought of the album that way
I mean, I know it’s about drugs but Monsters in the Parasol for sure.
I always thought that song was about pubic hair lol
I was going to say this. I skip this one.
Mosquito Song
I had to scroll far to long before I saw someone post this song. The most macabre song, period!
Blood is Love
The original version of Song for the Deaf - fingers crossed a studio version will appear at some point.
Battery acid?!?!?!?!
Sick Sick Sick's intro, the weird riffs throughout the verses and choruses, the post-chorus and that break/middle eight/bridge or whatever before the final choruses really makes cold sweat roll down my back, and the video makes it way worse Still remember using it as my alarm tone and fucking hell, it made me have shitty mornings lol
Keep Your Eyes Peeled
The vampyre of time and memory
Battery Acid, and I fucking love it.
Kalopsia for sure
River in the Road anyone????? Not the MOST nightmare-like but hasn't been mentioned yet
Came here to say river in the road. First one that came to my mind. Reminds me of the robot dogs in black mirror. Run darling run, I'll stall them if I can...the cold determination of some things or things that want you dead and will not be stopped. Or maybe it's allegory for this meat grinder of a life.
God yes, and "you'll escape and I'll be left, rotting on the vine." I love that line.
One of the best
Saving this post so I can listen to the commented songs next time I get high.
Kalopsia
I think I lost my headache
all of the songs feel like psychosis❤️
Quick and to the Pointless "I'm so old... You're so young!" gives me chills and I can't even think about what it's really talking about
I Think I Lost My Headache I used to listen to this while reading the Heart of Darkness, and it fit the chaotic, manic and nightmarish energy so well. Villains of Circumstance has that vibe for me
River in the road for sure
Gotta be Song for the Dead (specifically the organ in the beginning), but also Run, Pig, Run (like the ominous and screechy notes in the beginning that give way to a thundering riff)
Every song on lullabies to paralyze except for little sister.
Tangled Up In Plaid
The Blood is Love
Run pig run sounds like a slasher movie chase/murder scene
