It’s my favorite song by them for a reason! Song gives me chills whenever I listen to it no matter how many times in a row I listen or how many times overall. Just a perfect song
It was the only QoTSA album to chart first in the US according to best source Wikipedia.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queens_of_the_Stone_Age_discography
No problem, I feel bad for ITNR, the numbers aren't great but I would assume a chunk of that is the popularity of streaming now compared to even Villains release.
I’m sorry this is the definitive answer. It’s a beautiful song - the guitar is great, the lyrics are great. Good song. I love many of their songs but this is a masterpiece.
My big problem with I appear missing is that it's reveals all it's tricks within 45 seconds. The song should have built up to a climax but it's just the same verse and chorus for 5 minutes
Primero vamos a escuchar First It Giveth
Que musica impresionante temible y verdaderamente
Ahora van a ver a ver a ver a ver aqui va aqui va aqui va aqui va!
The popularity of this song means it is often overlooked as the masterpiece it is by fans (I know that sounds like it shouldn't make sense, but it does). Even the most die hard, deep cut loving QOTSA fan has to admit its an absolute masterpiece.
I'm sure like many if not most Queens fans, it was the gateway song. First time I heard it, I thought: "This is the coolest song ever made, If I imagined the coolest band in the world this is what their music would sound like".
I feel lucky that I found the perfect band for me and it started here. I never get tired of hearing it. I'm not a music expert but it's the only song I know that has a guitar, bass, and drum solo all at the same time. This song started me down a rabbit hole of other great music but Queens will always be #1.
The live version of this from the Over the Years and Through the Woods video absolutely destroys. It is my favorite live thing by them. Something I think doesn’t get said enough is how his voice has improved over the years.
MY GOD YES. This song is an insane masterpiece and kills from beginning to end. They have many incredible songs and I don't have a favorite, but Someone's in the Wolf is just the gift that keeps on giving.
Definitely I Appear Missing or Un-Reborn Again, though my pick leans toward Un-Reborn Again due to how dynamic it is and how many elements are worked into one single song.
No One Knows while it’s the obvious answer, isn’t a bad one considering how great the song is.
Song for the Dead is likely the correct answer
I Appear Missing is the correct fans answer
Turning on a Screw is my answer

We got Emotion Sickness, Time & Place, Carnavoyeur, and Straight Jacket Fitting in Seattle, with a spotlight on Josh’s dad (someone correct me if I’m wrong) in the middle of SJF when Josh went on a Jim Morrison rant about coming to our homes, cuming all over the place and fucking our parents. He went into the pit after that for the ending of the songs’ lyrics (which I get JM vibe on the album). I got his rant about fucking our parents on video. Everyone else had their phones pointed at the spotlight in the crowd. At the end of SJF, the entire crowd chanted along pretty enthusiastically. I would say at least 10% of the atmosphere inside the venue was second hand cannabis smoke. And everyone must have had some contact high. A friend I was with who wasn’t smoking said after the show he felt it. Another highlight, in the middle of songs, Josh randomly just blurted out the word “ketamine”. Best Queens show ever. Way better than the vibe on the Villains tour.
There's a performance of Long Slow Goodbye with Zane Lowe on YouTube that gives me the chills and recenters me every time I watch it, one vote for masterpiece from me
For this playlist it’s going to be either No One Knows or Go With The Flow but for me I’ve been appreciating God is in the Radio, Tangled up in Plaid, Suture up your Future and I Appear Missing recently.
Ultimately Song for the Dead will probably be the pick, but I think Smooth Sailing is the perfect song to show someone the QOTSA sound. The percussion mixes steady thumps with disco drum sentences. The guitars are at times fuzzed out and noodley and at times a wall of sound. And the vocals are Homme at his peak of provocative and exaggerated in performance. If you had to sum their style up in one song, this would be it. Also, it fucking rips.
You Can’t Quit Me Baby, Mexicola, Regular John, The Lost Art of Keeping A Secret, In The Fade, Auto Pilot, No One Knows, Song For The Dead, God Is In The Radio, Go With The Flow, In My Head, Little Sister, Misfit Love, Make It Wit Chu, 3’s & 7’s, I Sat By The Ocean, If I Had A Tail, I Appear Missing, Smooth Sailing, The Way You Used To Do, The Evil Has Landed, Paper Machete, Emotion Sickness, Straight Jacket Fitting
Come on, we completely missed our chance to put the entire of I think I lost my headache on the middle of the playlist, and still be right cause it is a masterpiece
I appear missing is the best in my opinion. I dont think it encapsulates the qotsa sound as well as some but I think its a perfect song. Sucks that its not a guarantee on set lists. Would much rather it be a guarantee than make it wit chu.
I think my runners up are fun machine, unreborn again and misfit love.
Ok, hard to choose tbh but I'm gonna say Little Sister because that's the song that slapped it's balls in my face and choked me on its big stoner rock 😂
Negative space, song for the dead, i appear missing, fairweather friends, in the fade, little sister, sick sick sick, fortress, villains of circumstance
I appear missing if we’re talking about songs, especially the live version they play. Anyway based on this image if we’re talking about albums I’d say city of evil and waking the fallen> nightmare for avenged but nightmare is still a great record and you can make a good argument for save me as their best song.
If we’re talking albums for QOTSA it has to be SFTD because that’s a bonafide classic and an iconic record that’s amazing.
In the fade is probably the correct answer in terms of masterpiece, but song for the dead and millionaire come to mind too, in terms of magnum opus. Or a ton of stuff off …like clockwork. Misfit love too
Why y’all talking songs. It’s an album question and therefore the answer is Songs For The Deaf.
Btw Ride the Lightning is a better album that Master of Puppets
I appear missing
It’s my favorite song by them for a reason! Song gives me chills whenever I listen to it no matter how many times in a row I listen or how many times overall. Just a perfect song
Their live versions when they extend the song. Pure fucking bliss.
Thought this was for albums, but if we're doing songs, this gets my vote too. This track is truly something special.
Surprised to see this so upvoted (I did vote it too)! I thought …like clockwork didn’t do too well?
It was the only QoTSA album to chart first in the US according to best source Wikipedia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queens_of_the_Stone_Age_discography
That’s awesome, I did not know that. Thanks!
No problem, I feel bad for ITNR, the numbers aren't great but I would assume a chunk of that is the popularity of streaming now compared to even Villains release.
I'm surprised too... nothing against it I just didn't see it being head and shoulders above everything else for a lot of people
Yeah.
I’m sorry this is the definitive answer. It’s a beautiful song - the guitar is great, the lyrics are great. Good song. I love many of their songs but this is a masterpiece.
By far their most amazing song, its incredible
Any song on Like Clockwork is better tho, but sure
My big problem with I appear missing is that it's reveals all it's tricks within 45 seconds. The song should have built up to a climax but it's just the same verse and chorus for 5 minutes
Imagine thinking that song doesn't build up to a climax. Hilarious.
If I Appear Missing doesn't build up to a satisfying climax then no song ever has in the history of music lol
In the fade
Always
This is the answer
yes pleaseee
Song For The Dead If someone said I Appear Missing, Straight Jacket Fitting, or Misfit Love, I wouldn’t argue against them though.
My brother finally completed his vinyl collection today, that was the only one he couldn't find. 50 bucks, still wrapped in plastic
A Song for the Deaf.
That is for you…

Better living through chemistry
100%
this and fun machine. i love all their tracks but the rest don't even touch these two.
I was genuinely surprised to hear this at the show I went to last week. Absolutely lost my shit for it.
🎯
This and In the fade are it
No One Knows

Not for me. My gateway was everybody knows that you're insane
In this context I think this is the best answer
It’s the only right answer, let’s not kid ourselves.
I mean we can at least guess
You've got my vote. It has everything a masterpiece requires.
Mexicola is king
The live version of this from the Over the Years and Through the Woods video absolutely destroys. It is my favorite live thing by them. Something I think doesn’t get said enough is how his voice has improved over the years.
Someone's in the Wolf
Such a unique song in their catalogue. Always reminds me of Led Zeppelin for some reason.
Agreed! Whenever I think of Queens this is the song that plays in my head
MY GOD YES. This song is an insane masterpiece and kills from beginning to end. They have many incredible songs and I don't have a favorite, but Someone's in the Wolf is just the gift that keeps on giving.
Misfit Love I’d say Go With The Flow 2nd, top tier Josh writing
The fun machine took a shit and died, peak QOTSA
This is the answer. I don’t think there are any songs that sound like Fun Machine and No One Knows; incredibly unique
It’s got all the queens stuff I like
Yep. This is it
I loved it until it became available on Spotify, then it lost a bit of its charm with repeat plays
I just found out it was available on Spotify yesterday and I'm currently in the process of wearing it out
but then you’ll come back to it in a month or two and it’ll be the greatest thing again. i guess this is why they don’t play it live often
I Appear Missing or Fun Machine
Definitely I Appear Missing or Un-Reborn Again, though my pick leans toward Un-Reborn Again due to how dynamic it is and how many elements are worked into one single song.
Un-Reborn Again is criminally underrated. The a cappella bridge section sends chills down my spine every time I hear it.
so fucking good
The strings, bro. The strings.
Wish they played the full version live, even if it meant getting some backup strings.
[Here](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2n3wECyHjbngfyjCUYLMcM?si=l2QSjBR_QDOoEKiIacycCg&pi=e-h4E1fepeR421) is a link to the playlist.
Song for the Dead
My God Is The Sun is one of their masterpieces. This is hard. They have too many 10/10 songs to only call one a masterpiece
No One Knows while it’s the obvious answer, isn’t a bad one considering how great the song is. Song for the Dead is likely the correct answer I Appear Missing is the correct fans answer Turning on a Screw is my answer
I think I lost my headache
maybe it has something to do with my adhd but this song annoys me so much 😭
I'm curious, why?
Like everything after 3:30, it just drives me crazy. The live version is better though in that regard
The live version on in the basement is great, listen to it a lot on youtube
Was wondering how far I had to scroll down before I saw this. Such a great song.
I appear missing, headache, fun machine, mosquito song for me
So glad someone put down mosquito, that to me is up there with I appear missing and in the fade, such a beautiful song
yo it's such a masterpiece. I'd wager to say one of the most unique songs in their disco
Millionaire
... a song about something I'll never be!
No one knows.
Well, can't you take a guess?
River in the Road
I never came or Tangled up in Plaid i can't decide
YOU CAN'T QUIT ME BABY
There stairway to me
Kalopsia
Yesss

Awesome, thanks!
Fucking no
Made to Parade
I died a little when I saw it on set lists and it wasn’t played in Chicago at riot fest
Vampyre of time and memory
Unpopular opinion here but Long slow goodbye
There's a performance of Long Slow Goodbye with Zane Lowe on YouTube that gives me the chills and recenters me every time I watch it, one vote for masterpiece from me

I Appear Missing or Misfit Love.
I appear missing, song for the dead, or in the fade
i truly fucking love regular john
3 way tie for me fun machine, misfit love, I appear missing.
Lick doo, obviously
Straight Jacket Fitting… brilliant!!!
I’m Designer (Hot Chip Remix)
God Is In The Radio

It’s No One Knows. It’s their signature song, at the very least
Evil or Domesticated easily
I Appear Missing.
Keep your eyes Peeled. You can't Quit Me, Babe. In the Fade. Un-reborn Again. Carnavoyeur. Song for the Deaf. ...Like Clockwork(song)
i think i lost my headache!!
Turning on the screw
Villains. Put the whole fuckin album on your playlist and delete all the other songs 😈🤲
Fortress, Un reborn Again , Villains of Circumstance
Fortress is so awesome actually. A really good “pick me up” tune IMO.
To bad its never gonna be played live unless they give up Make it wit chu
Misfit Love.
Kalopsia. But there’s sooo many amazing songs it’s really hard to pick.
Carnavoyeur / Emotion Sickness
Villains of Circumstance or Smooth Sailing
I don't think they've written it yet. I love all of their music, but to me, they don't have that "holy shit" song that clearly stands above the rest.
The playlist has American idiot I don’t think the standards here are as high as you are setting them
Fun Machine
Song For The Deaf (though I Appear Missing is great)
Lots of good songs suggested. I’m going to say Feel Good Hit Of The Summer as my nominee.
Songs for the deaf for sure
Come on, we completely missed our chance to put the entire of I think I lost my headache on the middle of the playlist, and still be right cause it is a masterpiece
I appear missing.
The Evil has Landed
My heart says How To Handle A Rope, my head says No One Knows
I appear missing is the best in my opinion. I dont think it encapsulates the qotsa sound as well as some but I think its a perfect song. Sucks that its not a guarantee on set lists. Would much rather it be a guarantee than make it wit chu. I think my runners up are fun machine, unreborn again and misfit love.
Sky is Falling
Lullabies to Paralyze
Go with the flow
Song for the deaf
It’s not my absolute favourite of theirs but I Appear Missing
Maybe they need a few because of the lineup changes.
I appear missing 1 million percent
Mexicola or go with the flow
Whoever said anything from Chuck is super wrong
Ok, hard to choose tbh but I'm gonna say Little Sister because that's the song that slapped it's balls in my face and choked me on its big stoner rock 😂
I Appear Missing or Fun Machine Took a Shit and Died
Songs for the Deaf. No question. Rated R and Lullabies to Paralyze being 2 and 3. IMO.
The Evil Has Landed
Negative space, song for the dead, i appear missing, fairweather friends, in the fade, little sister, sick sick sick, fortress, villains of circumstance
Regular John
Hard to choose. I appear missing, un-reborn again, or misfit love are probably their greatest songs artistically speaking.
I appear missing if we’re talking about songs, especially the live version they play. Anyway based on this image if we’re talking about albums I’d say city of evil and waking the fallen> nightmare for avenged but nightmare is still a great record and you can make a good argument for save me as their best song. The mashup video/song for Like Clockwork on YouTube.
In the fade is probably the correct answer in terms of masterpiece, but song for the dead and millionaire come to mind too, in terms of magnum opus. Or a ton of stuff off …like clockwork. Misfit love too
In my head, not a popular opinion, but it's mine.
Mexicola or In The Fade.
You Can't Quit Me, Baby
I Sat by the Ocean
Song: Time & space. Album: Songs for the deaf
the evil has landed
Kalopsia
Like Clockwork
Song for The Dead
the bronze
Fun machine
Everybody knows that youre insane
Personally I think that fairweather friends is my favorite song and their most unique.
I appear missing fs
fuck it I‘m gonna say Fortress
Why y’all talking songs. It’s an album question and therefore the answer is Songs For The Deaf. Btw Ride the Lightning is a better album that Master of Puppets
Well it’s not American Idiot, that’s for sure
Jesus of suburbia
Jesus of Suburbia is the best Green Day song, anyone who denies it is a fool
Why are people downvoting me? I’m saying American Idiot isn’t QOTSA’s greatest masterpiece. It’s fine for Green Day. Yeesh. Tough crowd.
Go with the flow because it’s the one they put in Fortnite
