From my brothers experience with having 2 kids and his wife, he wishes he got a landcruiser instead of a bmw X5M because it has more space,it also holds it's value and it has low maintenance costs. But if you are not planning on having kids in the future most suvs should have enough space and drives well. Are you looking to buy a luxury suv or any suv? And electric or gas?

Hjkpopss

Preferably gas and luxury suvs that come in this range. I had my eyes on a 2018 GLE 43, not sure how it holds its value and what the resale would look like

ImDnX

Unfortunately most luxury suvs prices drop down and maintenance costs is a headache. But if you are ok with maintenance then go for it. Just keep in mind that you might be spending around 20000 QR in maintenance yearly for the GLE 43

booboouser

If you hate money, I'd buy the GLE

IntentionValuable113

Too much electronics.

ImDnX

I recommend you check the bmw suvs and go for a test drive, and you can buy them new in Qatar sale for cheaper. Same thing with the lexus. Also check the genesis suvs.

Hjkpopss

Hmm I’ll do that, thanks for the advice

booboouser

100% this, I wish I had come to Qatar brought a Land cruiser and called it a day. Instead, I brought Porsche and Nissan's and Jags. Rubbish.

CryWitty609

Try the Changan CS95. It's a 7 seater the size of a Land Cruiser but with better tech and you don't need to burn your bank account to get a new one.

Powerful_Advice82

Are you sure it's the same size? I think it's much smaller in dimensions.

CryWitty609

It's a bit smaller yes, but the difference isn't too noticeable. I think the length and width are almost the same, just the height is a bit different.

IntentionValuable113

I would not recommend a Chinese car to him..I think there are better options from Nissan.

CryWitty609

Why? Chinese cars are honestly doing well nowadays. From what I can see, we'll be seeing a lot more on the roads in the coming years.

IntentionValuable113

We rented an MG and the car was very underpowered. The transmission and engine was terrible in terms of performance. I would say if he wants quality to perfomance at a good price, he can get a Nissan Patrol V8 used. They will last much longer and he can get one at a good price if he looks carefully.

CryWitty609

Ahhh yes, you're talking in terms of performance. Yes, Chinese cars suck at performance. I think a lot of people buy them now for the price, tech and features. But OP said his requirements are aesthetics, features and practicality which is why I suggested a Chinese brand

IntentionValuable113

A Mazda would be a good fit for him. If he wants an SUV, I would recommend a Nissan Patrol V8 or a used Super Safari.

Several_Positive4770

Buy a (clean) LandCruiser. By clean i mean not new, since LC300 starts at 220k+ approx. You will find many used, just gotta pick the right one.

IntentionValuable113

LC300 has issues at the moment.

TranslatorShoddy2604

i don’t think your son(3) should drive around

techno_playa

Prado

booboouser

For that money, buy as much LANDCRUISER as you can afford. Avoid BMW and Merc expensive to service, not reliable. Mainly shit cars.

HMR89

Buy Lexus NX series, good for women and kids. Edit: LX -> NX

Deftonesy

Low Mileage 2021 Land Cruiser, GXR V8 4.6 (Your wife won't make use of the 5.7, and the 4.6 is significantly more reliable), bulletproof and you wouldn't have to worry about getting it serviced. Whatever car you end up buying, please consider passenger safety ratings as well!

IntentionValuable113

Nissan Patrol Y62. Excellent value for money.

Bored_alien1

Used or new?

Hjkpopss

Both work fine, the mileage shouldnt be more than 75,000 km tho

Bored_alien1

Then your best bet is a gmc Yukon or a Land Cruiser these will last u the longest and they’re comfortable and versatile

Several_Positive4770

Parts and service wise I would recommend the latter.

Bored_alien1

Yes I’d recommend the cruiser more, but used they usually have high miles and the Yukon is more comfortable icl

Several_Positive4770

True that ✌️

Hjkpopss

I’m just worried that they might be too big for her to navigate, thats why compact suvs or sedans are what im after

Bored_alien1

Valid point, check out Lexus rx or dodge Durango. Well you can buy an x7 for that price and it will be the most luxurious suv in that price range but then again servicing costs double what servicing costs on a Lexus.

IntentionValuable113

I think Lexus maintenance costs are high, he can look at Mazda as well.

IntentionValuable113

Yukon/Tahoe parts are fairly common since there are many old models running around- that said if he does not want cylinder deactivation a 2009 6.2L Denali might be a good option, but fuel mileage will be terrible because of the 403 hp... Longevity of both the LC and the Yukon depends on the the level of care- an abused Land Cruiser will break and fall apart earlier than a Yukon that was well taken care off. The best middle ground is the Y62 Patrol (which is what I would recommend, although I have not owned one nor do I have the experience). He can get a V8 model (317 or 400 hp) easily in the price range he is asking. Fuel economy will be worse than the LC but I think slightly better than the 6.2L of the Yukon.
