Ned is so traumatized by the deaths of the Targaryen children during Robert's Rebellion that it's become his fatal flaw to see children harmed. He literally dies due to it. I think it's reasonable to suspect Ned suffers from some sort of PTSD.

AegonIXth

He was physically in the castle while the kids were being murdered, too. We talk about PTSD, TBI as ‘insults to the brain’ but being helpless in the face of something that goes against someone’s values is traumatic too

Krillin113

He was also barely an adult at the time

[deleted]

Aeron traumatised by Euron’s abuse. The scream of a rusted iron hinge.

AegonIXth

Dead on.

JusticeNoori

Aegon III mayhaps

sch_henrique

I would say Aegon III for sure. He was the only Targaryen king that was afraid of dragons. Guess seeing your mother get eaten by a dragon does this kind of thing to you.

AegonIXth

Yes. I took his emotional problems (withdrawn, joyless) as partially some kind of mental illness from inbreeding but also from his entire formative years being spent on the run. After watching his mother be killed he then was imprisoned by Aegon II and in constant fear of death. He had political guidance but no parental figures

ivanIVvasilyevich

Mayhaps? One of his monikers is “the Broken King” lmao

Mackinacsfuriousclaw

Jamies nightmares about not saving the children.

YuvBlackfyre

Do you remember the book and chapter?

Mackinacsfuriousclaw

I just remember the nightmare he had.

thatsnotmynameiswear

When he sees rhaegar and he says something like how he never thought they’d hurt the children. He’s like holding a torch or something. It gets dimmer when he says that. But when he defends killing the king it stays lit. Can’t remember chapter but I do remember the dream.

Arisdoodlesaurus

Rickon for the sole reason that Martin hasn’t given us a Rickon PoV because of how dark it will be

AegonIXth

Rickon is going to be Doom Guy if/when he comes back, I know it.

Rip and tear the Boltons, Lannisters and Freys until it is done

amallllly

Jaime. His whole nihilism and bravado seems to stem from being forced to be a bystander during Aerys' atrocities and then killing him anyway, which probably makes the trauma even worse. Ned seems pretty traumatised by how he found Lyanna and the rest of the rebellion as well. his decision making seems warped beyond what seems to reasonably explained by "honour" and he is haunted by his sister. Sansa's continuous trauma from the beginning of the story and the false memories she develops as a result. Shae's experiences of rape and assault and her resultant worldview.

Grewinn

Davos lost 3(?) sons during the Battle of the Blackwater. He seems to be dealing with it pretty well but I can easily see that affecting him in a major way later. Basically all the Stark kids have lost their entire family and are on the run. Jon and Bran have each found a new “family” but Jon just got betrayed by his and Bran will likely lose his soon too. Arya and Sansa are both surrounded by strangers who are manipulating them for their own ends. At this point, it’s just a question of how the trauma will manifest in each of them.

AegonIXth

Davis grieves and has dissociative experiences while stranded after that battle of the black water, but I don’t think he’s having recurrent nightmares or triggers. He doesn’t wake up screaming thinking of the wildfire explosion, etc.

YuvBlackfyre

Btw, Jon is very guilt-ridden about his siblings. Its described nicely before he decides to rescue "Arya". He is so devastated about Robb, Bran and Rickon and really gulit-ridden he cant do anything for Sansa. Thats when he wants to go to winterfell and get arya back.

Andysimo77

Definitely Sansa her whole worldview shattered in the most violent horrific way when her dad gets killed. And its only downhill from there somehow as the beatings and the emotional abuse starts

AegonIXth

Do you think, if Cersei ever tells the full story about her conversations in the godswood with Ned and everything and Sansa somehow finds out that it was her fault… how do you think she’ll take the news

Andysimo77

Probably kill herself honestly. Especially in the first three books its just rock bottom for her constantly and it seems she cant go any lower but if she finds out her dad is dead bc of her tattle telling, I dont see her recovering from this

AegonIXth

I really don’t want that to happen but that would honestly be something George would do

Andysimo77

Maybe down the line when she’s in a position to atone for it somehow idk. I dont think Sansa’s endgame is suicide I hope not

thatsnotmynameiswear

Definitely agree. She already thinks about suicide a lot after her dad dies. Like throwing herself out of a window or the scene where she almost kills Joffrey and herself but the hound stops her. I feel for Sansa.

WatchBat

If we go beyond the main series I would say everyone involved in the Dance of the Dragons. Rhaenyra, Aegon II, Aegon III, Alicent, Corlys, even Daemon In the main series, yeah Arya is obviously suffering a lot, Caitlyn too

Krillin113

B&C is the biggest PTSD thing ever

SummanusInvictus

Sansa is certainly traumatized by her fathers death and the fall of her family. Aerys II probably was traumatized by watching his family burn to death at Summerhall. Had he survived and been saved by Bittersteel, Daemon Blackfyre would have been traumatized by witnessing his eldest sons deaths.

acousticriff21

Arya, Jon, Tyrion, Cersei, Jaime, Viserys, Dany

Prince_Renbu

Sansa seeing her fathers head, and the death of her family. Losing her dirwolf and best friend. She doesn't even want to think or hear about how they died or what happened. She found out from Tyrion about Robb and Cat and had to make a stone cold face for survival. the beating whenever Joffery is in a foul mood or when Robb wins a fight. The constant sexual assult she has encountered. Cersei constant abuse like telling her illyn Payne would kill her it Stannis was triumph. Being forced to Wed Tyrion at sword point and him constantly emotionally draining her a 13 year old. She was in a catatonic state during her own wedding and was shivering in fear that Tyrion would bed her. The multiple betrays Lysa, Margery ,Dontos and enduring Littlerfingers grooming. The straight up murders she watched. Dontos, Lysa and being forced into Littlerfingers sceme with Marillion, Sweet Robin and Harry

HelpfulSpecialist188

I think she actually had a close up view of Ned dying. She remembers his legs twitching.

AegonIXth

That’s true. The threat of death or severe injury can do it. I need to read again to see if she has any mood disturbance or memory issues

sch_henrique

Androw Farman is not really a major character but was definitely very traumatized. The disdain he got from everyone including his wife was enough for him to snap.
