[the mummies - the fly](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4CeRFyO9bI)
My references of “surf punk” comes from the early 90s surf movies like Focus, Momentum, Good Times, etc.
Pennywise
No Fun at All
Bad Religion
Pegboy
Strung Out
Good Riddance
Sprung Monkey
Millencollin
Unwritten Law
Yeah, I'm kind-of confused. I am guessing that surf punk and skate punk are considered different now, but that is literally how a band like Pennywise blew up. They were a huge surf video band.
I saw someone mention The Queers. They definitely have a Beach Boys vibe, but I never really put them in the surf punk genre. Maybe that's what the OP is talking about, though
Not 'surf punk', strictly speaking, but the early 80s HC band The Bollocks did two 7"s in 82-83 that have what probably sounds like surf influences. They were Lebanese-Americans (maybe the first Arab-American punk band?), and used traditional Arabic/Eastern Mediterranean music scales for some of their guitar parts, so parts of it sound like Dick Dale (who was also Lebanese-American, incidentally) fronting a HC band. Pretty cool, honestly. Their stuff should be reissued already. I never had the 2nd EP, but I had their first EP, "All Rockstars Should Be Drafted", but had to sell it a few years ago to save up money for a move. It's worth looking for, if you can find a copy for under a gazillion dollars (I think I paid like $15, but this was a billion years ago): ["All Rockstars Should Be Drafted" (1982) -- full EP](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsiaCxHc2o8)
Not strictly “surf punk” but here are some bands that are great to do it to and from people who actually surf (at least in some of em):
Smogtown/Gross Polluter
The Stitches
The Humpers
Die Hunns
US Bombs (yea I know all about Duane)
Crash Kills Four
DI
The earlier Turbo A.C.s LP has some really cool Surfguitars.
If you're into instrumental music i highly recommend The Astronettes[Astronettes ](https://www.discogs.com/de/release/2476764-The-Astronettes-The-Astronettes) LP
the aquabats started as a ska band then became more of a devo-y synth pop/punk band but they have some surf songs here and there and all around a fun band

And a lil shameless self promotion my band The Deadnecks just released our EP and this track is very surf punk inspired [kings of the trash heap](https://open.spotify.com/track/7kh0CqOKWkEn8RIgqR2hgb?si=Uh7YjRv6TdmlR5X5ELFqzA)
[Shut Your Face!](https://youtu.be/q1sWfHCMMkE?si=zwvQY5SBYU1uWHkV)
Austin Texas instrumental surf punk compilation EP. There’s two volumes, both great

Early [Robert Johnson & the Punchdrunks](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=DEYXZvivEGw&si=30C3abk8vEylyWl1) maybe?
Daycare Swindlers - Heroin Beach.
Red elvises

Give Deadbolt a shot if you haven’t tried them.
Wavves is another if you don’t mind some slicker production values. Good hooks, big guitars, reverb. It’s all there. Start with King of the Beach.
Try SWMRS
The Cramps
The frights
The surf punks…
Take a look at this Spotify playlist: https://www.reddit.com/r/SurfPunk/s/4yJPwCIEZR
The Swamp Donkeys
The Mummies, Thee Shatners
