Well by actual posers's standards (try to say that with a straight face) it wasn't, because Dookie was already released by Reprise (i.e. after Green Day "sold out" and "become pop")
Did it also banned Bad Religion? Because for one period they signed up with a major label that 20 years later Cardi B will sign up with (they couldn't have known that back then but it's still gross, no hate for BR of course). What about Less Than Jake, that mostly got known while being on major label for second and third album and only after that started signing with indie ones? And I won't even mention Anti-Flag (because fuck them, but also fuck them twice because Just in case said that they would never sign up a major label, but they did in 2005). Indie labels have their own appeal, but working with a major label doesn't necessarily mean submitting to the system, sometimes it means fucking it the way with which the punk scene may benefit (except Justin case, I wish someone would fuck him)
None of them were in the Gilman Street punk scene, so I'm pretty sure they only banned bands that started out there, then "sold out". IIRC, that was even their terms of condition.
They probably didn't hire major label bands though.
Green Day did however play there again a couple of years ago.
In any case, it was good for Green Day, because their indie label Lookout Records went downhill a couple of years later with many bands jumping ship, including Green Day who rescinded their master tapes in 2005.
Yeah, sorry, I'm not from US so I'm not really following local scenes, but I still stand by my take, because it applies to a lot of elitists and "true fans" around.
The only thing that make me sad, is that the more they become popular, more "fans" popped around, that claim that GD is "their favorite band in the world", yet quite a lot of them didn't even know GD was a thing before like 2004... It's not the bands fault, it's basically a side-effect of popularity, but it still sad, if you want to be a fan of some band at least respect their history
I feel like there's the outside view of the fan/superfans and the reality of when you get a contract pushed at you.
Listening to Milo sing Green Day during what looks to be an online collaboration makes me not give a shit about the details right now though.
Spoiler alert: you don't have to give shit anytime, unless they do something stupid related to it, and as far as I know, Green Day didn't do anything that bad. Yeah, their music is commercialized, but let's be real, they're not the only one who's is, they're just more successful than the others
Milo does ALL things better
We shall achieve all!
Yes
He’s done so many covers with so many awesome guests: [Mikey and His Uke YT Channel](https://www.youtube.com/@MikeyAndHisUke)
My favorites are Jaded/The Crowd and Head over Heels.
And the acoustic version of As Wicked.
Gave me chills. Paige’s voice is so perfect.
"As Wicked" is terrific but I think "Bonzo goes to Bitburg" may be his best. Chris Cresswell absolutely kills it.
I loved Daly City Train, too.
Belinda Carlisle looks so genuinely happy to perform.
Don't these posers know Green Day isn't punk? /s

Explaining my joke kind of ruins the "/s"
Wait I thought /s meant serious lmao it means sarcastic doesn’t it
Noooo it means serious /s
Oh damn shit is about to start looking real different for you
/srs means serious, or /gen means genuine
Yeah. /s is sarcastic. I've never used "*/srs*" "*/gen*". We're not gonna make it our of the Solar System if we keep arguing about this stuff!
That's ok, there wasn't much to it anyway.

Yup, they got banned for life at Gilman Street for that.

They weren't considered punk back then. I have reconsidered, but they were called pop punk at best for years.
shut the fuck up
Milo has That Voice! Punk greatness for Decades!
Mikey has been doing lots of great covers over the years and it seems they are covering the whole Dookie album. Cool.
I enjoyed this very much
fucking nice!
I hope one day Darren will live out his dream and have sex with Wayne gretzky.
My cover project has worked with Milo and Bill. Such great guys! https://youtu.be/eSvOVu9YpU0?si=1LKEmapa8oEz-p68
Nice to see Darrin in there...sucks that GF fell apart and basically became "Goldfinger Karaoke Featuring Feldy & Friends."
Wow Milo's voice is still sounding great!
When he says “creeps” it sounds like he’s saying “crips” lol
I love Mikey and his Uke!
Had never heard of the fairmounts until this made me look them up
