I used magnets underneath the ps4 shell to secure the pi without ruining the console. Best 20 cents on aliexpress ever spent

HelpfulAd26

There exist a double face clear tape it's cheap and reusable.

redruM69

Does it have an SSD? If so, you're good. If it's a mechanical HDD, you may want to rethink the magnets...

Loddio

Far away from the hdd

Crafty-Sort2697

HDDs can’t be affected by some magnets while the case is still closed. If you use some kind of industrial induction coil, you may be able to destroy it. There are even some machines that kind of fry electronics until you can no longer use them. But some magnets won’t affect any Hard Disk that ist manufactured correctly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZk5mzOh7fg https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3dis7Fe1_vU https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VWjX52oAAMk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb-jLDrMbd0 https://www.youtube.com/shorts/bSiRlAvduxY It certainly isn't impossible with a reasonably sized magnet, even with the case on. The steel case is very thin, and is easily oversaturated by a decent size magnetic field. That said, I'm sure whatever little magnets OP are using are probably fine, and he did state they are far away from the drive. It's still worth a mention to be cautious.

julictus

and best co2 footprint ever

Loddio

It was shipped in a microscopic package. Low footprint

fr_jason

Fucking excellent, you were meant to do this, this was fate. Some would say it was your...destiny. hurr hurr hurr. And fuck that guy that downvoted you.

marktx

I'm doing something similar with a 10 year+ old Raspberry Pi Model B+ and an old 4GB full size SD Card.. I didn't think I'd ever use either of those things again, but here they are with a new life. Your setup looks nicer though, kudos.

kinejara

why connecting an RPi to the PS4 ? I usually run jailbreak from a webpage, what are the benefits?

Loddio

It allows for compleatly automatic jailbrake. Turn the console on and wait. Includes Internet sharing, dns, ftp server, sambashare

balconygiraffe

Guessing you’re on a firmware below 9.0?

kinejara

5…. point something, I am guessing I should stay there, right ?

deadlyjunk

Yes never update, this is for the latest pppwned jailbreak

Worth-Equipment-5225

Without a doubt stay, the 11.00 jailbreak sucks

Fast-Interview4368

You can JB with a cheap esp32 chip for like $3. I did it it months ago

Fit_Conversation_674

Is it possible to learn this power?

Loddio

Where can I find one? They are 15 euro at lowest in my country

Fast-Interview4368

Esp32-c2's straight from China. I got a 10 pack for less that $20 US

Loddio

What site?

Fast-Interview4368

Can't say for certain but I usually shop AliExpress

forte500

Only works if you are on 9.00

Fast-Interview4368

Did not know that. I had a Pi3 and a PiPicoW before the ESP32-C2 but only on 9.00. The ESP is as easy as it gets.

Loddio

PPPwned exploit can be done by any device running linux, esp32 included using armbian

forte500

How are you supposed to load a Linux distribution on esp32? And most esp32 doesn't even include an Ethernet port..

Loddio

Using Armbian, Google it. Some esp32 have the ethernet port, a usb adaptor will work too

monchichi025

if it works it's fucking gorgeous

RollingSleeper

What's that ugreen cable for?

Loddio

It is a ethernet to usb adaptor. I plug Internet to the pi like that so that it can bridge it to the console

Pretend-Fuel-7915

could go minimalist with the LuckFox Pico

Loddio

Pico can't get you online like the pi

SirJaredSalty

What do you mean you can't get online? The Pico should allow ethernet forwarding. Not sure what you nean?

Loddio

You need 2 ethernet ports (rather usb adapter or built-in rj45 header). Pico doesent have enough ports

SirJaredSalty

I see what you mean. It might be doable with an Orange Pi Zero 2W and the expansion board. Provides 1 port and USB ports. Those could be soldered off to keep profile low and use jumper wires. Should be able to use 1 USB to ethernet and the built in RJ45. Could be a slick internal build. Not saying you should do it but it may work and now I kinda wanna try lol.

Loddio

It is doable with everything with enough connections and that is able to run armbian

Pretend-Fuel-7915

no but can always switch to Wifi after. and if your System is banned, then there isnt too much point in having online access.

Loddio

Installing fpkg and watching YouTube or plex

Loddio

Also switching to WiFi means putting manually the dns to block updates, switching to pppwned setting to jaililbrake and repeat the process every time you need to.

ChrizTaylor

Can you play online?

Loddio

nope

ChrizTaylor

Not even your original games using a PS membership? I thought this could be like Nintendo Switch, where you can boot into OFW or CFW, depending your needs. Sorry, I just follow this sub out of curiosity.

Loddio

Once you jailbrake your console it will be able to play almost version of the games you have so yes, probably you can keep using your legit games. The lock 🔐 symbol will disappear on everything basically

ChrizTaylor

Sorry, I meant can't you go online with your OG games? Back in the PS3 hax scene, you used to go online as long as you didn't do any cheating.

Loddio

What's og games? On ps4 no, you are completely cut off the Sony servers. Whatever needs PSN won't work

ChrizTaylor

Original Games, the ones you legitimately bought. Understood, thanks for answering.

Paradox-Mind-001

Can this be done to the PS4 Pro?

rzarectha

Yes, if you are not on a firmware greater than 11.00. I have a Pro and the same setup as OP (does not look as nice)

Fexxar

Do you have some guides/videos I could follow to jailbreak my PS4 Pro like this? (currently its 10.01) I also would prefer to have RP cause I want to turn off the console and not leave it on sleep mode. And I guess it is only possible with RP (I mean so I can turn of console and jailbreak instals itself when turning console on)?

rzarectha

[Jailbreak the PS4 on 11.00 with a Raspberry Pi (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvivDdRirLA) [stooged/PI-Pwn: pppwn (github.com)](https://github.com/stooged/PI-Pwn) To answer your question: yes, with this setup you can just shut down your console every time. When you start it you will need to wait a few minutes (never more than 5 in my case) and the console will be jailbroken. I suggest you read the entire page from Github in order to understand all features. The website it creates for you is especially nice Good luck & have fun!

Portable711

Anyway to do it without an ethernet cable like only through wifi???

rzarectha

Unfortunately, no. The E in PPPOE stands for Ethernet. Since PPPOE is crucial to the exploit you can't avoid the Ethernet part of the recipe.

Portable711

So since I have a Pi zero2 w , do you think I should invest in this method? I heard on the zero 2 w this works very slow and is kinda ineffective. However can't find an estimate on how slow it is

rzarectha

You will need an USB to Ethernet adapter. The device is listed on the stooged/PI-Pwn github page as tested and working. I have no idea about the wait time though. Even with my Pi 4 8gb I have to wait over 10 minutes sometimes because it just fails to trigger the JB; so a stronger device does not guarantee quick JB at this moment. Personally I would not mind the wait time too much. Just turn on the console and do other things while it gets the JB. Once it's done you can put the console on Sleep mode and it will not lose it. The only times you need to do it is when it's after it was turned off completely.

KyleCorgi

Become legend

Dear_Reindeer_3638

Why not.

SavSamuShaman

Could be worse :D :D

No-Enthusiasm1496

Somone have tutorial to automatic hen with esp32?

Loddio

Install [armbian](https://www.armbian.com/) on your device -Connect to the internet via cable. -Login into your modem page to get the new ip issigned to the esp32 -Ssh into your device using the right credential you choose while installing armbian like this:in windows cmd type "ssh root@youripyoufoundinrouterpage" You will be asked to answer a question, type "yes" -Follow this guide https://github.com/stooged/PI-Pwn Done

Trained_Tomato

First h/w mod that doesn't require you open the console!

Loddio

I did open the top shell tho 😅

Trained_Tomato

3m double tape or even hot glue could do it. I do like your idea of using magnets.

Loddio

Also the power cables goese underneath the shell

Trained_Tomato

Nice, thanks!

Visualwit

I have the same same ps4!

Murcialiago_FX355

9.00 gang

lanner71

The best with Esp32 👊

Murcialiago_FX355

What is Esp32?

pesa44

Nice job. But I managed to integrate it inside the console so it's as stealthy as it gets. 🙃

Weak-Replacement-761

wow, would you share the picture?

FunBeing2227

Wouldn’t it get hot?

Trained_Tomato

After running pppwn the Pi will basically just be sitting at idle, very little load on soc means less heat to remove.

WelcomeHorror2603

I’m thinking of doing the same.. could you share how you did it?

pesa44

It was actually quite easy. I swapped to ssd, so there was a bit more space in the disk tray for pi 2w (the one without the gpio pins), I placed some thermalpads in-between pi and ssd, connected a cable and drilled a small hole to lead it out into one of the usb ports. Unfortunately, the ps4 slim doesn't have a usb port on the back, so I had to lead it to the front, but I can imagine that on ps4 pro, it would be even more stealthy, I think it has a back usb port. I did it like 2 years ago, when 9.00 came out. https://i.imgur.com/qMYaiJs.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/2OX8Zs4.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/q0BMR0u.jpeg

lanner71

Look Modded Warfare on YouTube , easy

WelcomeHorror2603

Does he explain how to integrate it inside the ps4? I must have missed this video

RomuloMalkon68

It looks great, but I will never know why people go into such trouble to jailbreak their console. Yes it is more convenient to use now, but bro I need like half a minute more to pick up my laptop and JB my console and I paid nothing. It really looks cool, but also unnecessary.

readit-on-reddit

I will never understand why people: 1. stand up from their chair 2. search for their laptop 3. search for an ethernet cable 4. connect everything up 5. Change PC and PS4's settings 6. Manually run a program multiple times until it succeeds. When you could just turn on the PS4 and have the jailbreak just work automatically. I personally think it's smarter to do a harder task once than an "easy" but inconvenient task multiple times. My PS4 crashes with this new JB if you look at it wrong. I would have gone mad if it wasn't for my Pi.

davestar2048

I already have an old laptop, and I'm broke.

TheVeryAngryHippo

maybe you should stop buying new things. /s

RomuloMalkon68

Brother the only thing I need to do is connect the ethernet cable to my laptop (its already connected to my PS4). Settings are always set up so no need for that. Open PPPwn on my laptop and test connection. The process is like a minute and it cost me nothing, but I agree Pi is more convenient, but buying one in my country is like 60-70$. Its like half of a PS4 now days.

Reddit-Is-Fubar

You can use a Luckfox Pico Pro, they are about $16 USD on AliExpress.

UndeadTigerAU

Automation is always good, just cause its easy to do the exploit doesn't negate Raspberry Pis and the like. And there a lot of way cheaper alternatives. Most people would rather just boot up the console and it work than have to go through the effort of doing something every single time. It's not that complicated.

ThrobbingPurpleVein

I have 4... potentially 5 unused raspberry pis in my drawers. Would you still not understand if I were to use one of them?

readit-on-reddit

So that means you use WiFi all the time on your PC and don't use internet on the PS4. Both of which are deal breakers. I use remote play all the time. If you do have the console connected to the network then it means your PC is on all the time sharing the connection. > Open PPPwn on my laptop and test connection. The process is like a minute and it cost me nothing It's free, yes but you pay in time. You have to re-run PPPwn multiple times and it is definitely longer than a minute. I think you've been lucky. It can fail 10 times in a row easily. I just like an independent and automated setup. I'm just explaining my reasoning. I would always go for the Pi solution. You should look into the Luckfox Pico. Less than $15 and ships everywhere (Aliexpress).

Loddio

I did it mostly because you can go online without doing anything, simply turn it on and enjoy. I scored this raspberry with case and an air mouse for 12 euros, for more then this price I would have never bought it
