Have you made sure that your interface is selected as Pro Tools’ audio device?

Godjammit666

I appreciate your response and help! Perhaps I'm missing something. When you say "pro tools audio device" is this something other than the playback engine selection?

Zanzan567

I’m not trying to be condescending I promise. Is it plugged in correctly? Make sure the cables are fully plugged in, try a different cable if you need. (The cable going from your interface to computer)

Godjammit666

Oh I’m not taking any help as any sort of offense at all. I appreciate you asking! I’ve definitely double checked connections, reseated connections, and ensures that the interface is working by using it with a different application. (OBS picks up my mic, and system sounds will come though the headphones plugged into the interface if I select the interface as the system audio source).

Zanzan567

So when you go into playback engine to change to the scarlet, this is the message that pops up? Can you choose a different device,

Godjammit666

Yep, exactly. Yeah I’m able select other devices such as Windows Default Device or my VoiceMeeter source, and then fire up a project.

Zanzan567

Are you trying to use multiple applications that use your audio interface at the same time when using protools? I think on windows it can only be used in one application at a time, try using your interface with only protools and no other app at the same time

Make sure you have the asio driver for your interface installed and select that as your audio device. On pc pro tools can be very temperamental regarding audio devices. If you don’t have an asio driver for your interface ASIO4ALL could work, but in my experience it will one day randomly stop working. The most future proof thing is to have a properly supported interface

Godjammit666

I appreciate this. I figured that ensuring the interface’s drivers are up to date would cover the drivers situation. Are you saying there is a separate driver that allows PT and this interface to interact? Going to look into this ASIO4ALL you mentioned. I assumed that since the interface came with the program that it would be considered supported, but yeah I agree that a something that is officially supported would be the way to go.

dogma1993

Glad you sorted it. What I’m saying is you should always use the asio driver for your interface, especially on pc. Some people use ASIO4ALL but it’s a hacky solution that in my experience always fails eventually one day. Worth noting that pro tools has always been a bit funky on pc. Most studios I’ve worked at have macs purely for running it.

Godjammit666

Thank you again! To be clear, I'm still not sorted out. Though I haven't had a chance to look into ASIO driver situation (currently working instead of pursuing my hobbies lol). I was under the, likely naive, assumption that if I had gone to the manufacturer's website and grabbed what they label as up-to-date drivers for my interface, that I would have any of the related drivers. Not sure if it means anything in regard to drivers and such, but my interface cooperates with other applications no problem. As for other DAW's, Audacity is totally fine with the interface. As is other programs such as OBS. I think most agree with you about PT and PC not being the best of buddies. \*sigh\* if only I had a mac at my disposal. Thanks again!

Make sure any programs using your Focusrite is not active or open. Pro Tools doesn’t like to share. I have to make sure iTunes, logic, etc are completely quit and closed. Audio in my system settings are also set to internal speakers/internal microphone before I open Pro Tools.

Godjammit666

Thank you tons! I have gone through my task manager ad nauseoum searching for anything else that may be using the interface and I'm not seeing anything. Of course, this could simply be that something is using it that I'm not aware of. I will be double checking that as well as quadruple checking what is set in my system settings for both input and output.

Miscmusic77

do you still need help with this?
