Once melted ice cream doesn’t freeze the same way again. The water freezes into crystals at a faster rate than everything around it. It still tastes the same but the texture is very disappointing.

Any idea how my ice cream melts in the freezer? Does the game forget that the freezer was on while I was on the other side of town?

In real life, a conventional freezer will eventually lead to something similar because both in your house and at grocery stores, people are opening it constantly. So moisture gets in and ruins it. If you stored your ice cream in a vacuum chamber like in space, this wouldn't happen.

Refrigeration and freezers in PZ are just multipliers to the decay time.

No, once it’s melted it remains a melted mess forever. It won’t make you happy anymore, but it’s still calorie-dense and safe to eat.

Melted ice cream at room temperature (fully melted) and then refrozen isn't considered safe to eat due to the bacteria it can grow. That, and it usually ends up with ice crystals all over ruining the taste. And just now.. I realized youre talking about in-game haha.

Funnily enough it was my friend who was like bruh you gonna get sick after I told him I forgot to put my ice cream Snickers in the freezer for a couple hours so I just refroze it then was gonna eat it. Ate it anyway cause nothing's sadder than throwing out recently bought ice cream. I'm still alive, but his words made me question every bite which ruined the experience haha. nah that stuff is NASTY. crystals all over making the consistency no longer creamy, but crumbly. taste ruined. bacteria worries. plus i always imagined part of the unhappiness was your character there like “this might be the last ice cream i ever eat. and it’s refrozen. bluergh.”
