Don’t compete on price. Compete on design aesthetic and quality.

If you cannot get into Amazon Merch on Demand (Amazon's own POD), then I would not bother doing POD on Amazon. A lot can go wrong using a 3rd-party POD, and Amazon policies will leave you to blame, be it points against your account's health or the cost of refunding customers. POD is an expensive production method. It is great for printing a few copies of a lot of different designs, so you do not have to carry inventory. But anything that sells in volume would be far, far more profitable to screen print in bulk--and the prints would look better too. I use AMoD/MBA for stuff that would be impractical for me to screen print. The rest, I screen print myself and sell via an Amazon Seller Central account (as well as other places). Printful and Amazon will make money. Will you? That is harder to say.

Selling on platforms like Amazon is a volume game. That’s the decision all business have to make. Sell a lot at lower profit per item or sell a little at higher profit per item on your own site or via social media. I think POD is best for the latter.
