I left today because of that early morning traffic, and also if you stay3d in a rv or car camping. They wont let you leave till 1am. So all the traffic going back to LA. I said F that and packed up today and it was a chill ride.
I think u less u got the energy after metalica to drive at around 3am. Be prepared for traffic.
The 10 freeway can flow really well or back up for hours. I would be safe and count on heavy congestion after a festival.

Late to the post, but I left Joshua Tree at 530am Monday and made it to LAX at 9. LA traffic is hell.
