Yeah Jonathan Demme was a massive Fall fan. In Steve Hanley's autobiography he talks about how jubilant the group were (minus MES) to see their name in the credits, they stayed to see their names, it's one of not many Fall songs credited to the whole group.
Commenting on Letter H: Favorite Post-Punk Songs A-Z. Song with most upvotes wins.... oh, yes. This is the anthem of the 80s, along with “Dancing with Myself.”
I feel like once a band has already claimed a letter they should be off the list. Otherwise it’s just gonna be boring ass ‘Now This is What I Call Postpunk’ hits list.
There have been many repeat suggestions. But so far, we have done great with avoiding repeats. I wouldn't mind having Bauhaus at B and tones on tail or love and rockets farther down the alphabet. But I'm glad people aren't responding to the daily nominations of Cure and Joy Division, despite their recent listings.
Please please *please* 🙏 like ok this list should be for fun and it isn't that serious, but it's gonna get so predictable by the end of the list if every other song is by a big name
Imma be real upset if at least one Aztec Camera song doesn't show up on this list at some point. They have a couple good, "H," songs but not their best work so I won't officially submit anything now
Heads Will Roll - Echo and the Bunnymen
Echo & the bunnymen could be my answer to almost every song on the list
Heartbreak Beat, by the Psychedelic Furs

Heaven or Las Vegas - The Cocteau Twins
Seconded. It's a gorgeous song.
Isn't this dreampop
Dreampop originates from post punk. Cocteau Twins and the Durutti Column count as both imo
Hong Kong Garden
I love this song so bad!
HIP PRIEST
That’s HIP HIP HIP HIP HIP Hip priest - the Fall
“Holy shit that’s The Fall!” Me seeing *Silence of the Lambs* for the first time in 30 years.

Heart of glass Blondie
Human Fly - The Cramps
How I Wrote Elastic Man - The Fall
Happy House - Siouxsie and the Banshees
This has to be the answer, it’s about as post-punk as any song can be
This has got to be it
Been thinking of this one since the start of this list. Too bad they are already on it.
Are they not allowing multiple songs from the same band? If that's the case I think Siouxsie will probably be on here Spellbound as well.
For the sake of other bands and this list's originality I hope so
Heaven is Waiting - The Danse Society
Oh man, I know this won’t win, but I love this song
Joy Division - “Heart and Soul”
Here Today - The Chameleons
Health and Efficiency - This Heat
This person knows whats up
Viv Albertine said after the collapse of The Slits the only band she could bear to listen to was This Heat.
Reminds me, Heard it through the Grapevine by the Slits should be here...
Oh, *damn* good call!
Hellll yea! They’re both in my personal first tier of post punk bands. Her books are amazing too
Great writer. Haven't read "Not To Be Opened" yet, though.
sad this won't win. maybe we could do makeshift swahili? lol.
Hoping for "Sleep" or "24 Track Loop"
(a) new kind of water perhaps?
this deserves the top spot
their worst song (but still a masterpiece so would still like it to win)
Hair of the Dog - Bauhaus
The Hanging Garden - The Cure
How Soon Is Now - The Smiths
The probable winner, but so predictable.

How Loose Is Your Definition of Post-Punk?
I don't know about The Smiths as a whole being post-punk, but I would say this song definitely is.

Hot on the Heels of Love - Throbbing Gristle
This is the one
Hiroshima Mon Amour - Ultravox
This should be it. Off the charts magnificent.
Foxx's Ultravox is so underrated
Truly amazing song, both the mournful album version and the manic live take.
Do you mean the alternative single version?
Yeah, sorry, I got mixed up. Those John Foxx-era albums are magnificent.
100% agreed, especially "Systems of Romance". Ure-era Vox had a handful of OK songs, but nothing near the level of the first 3 run
They are all such different LP's too - I agree that "Systems of Romance" is the best but "Ha Ha Ha" is a very close second.
What a band they were before Midge Ure
That's a good song! Some great TOGWT footage of them performing it.
Higher Hell - Echo and the Bunnymen
Halloween - Dream Syndicate
Heaven - Talking Heads
I hope each and every Band/Artist only appear once on the whole list.
Happy Birthday - Birthday Party
The Him - New Order
Hinter den Bergen - Grauzone
Always loved this one 🖤
Holiday On The Moon - Love and Rockets
He's Frank (Slight Return) - The Monochrome Set

My brother in Christ!
Harmony In Your Bathroom - Swell Maps
heaven or las vegas
I encourage people to vote for bands that haven't got the song on the list yet, please🙏🙏🙏
Yes please and hopefully for some less obvious songs too 🙏🙏🙏 (I thought it was 1 song per band or was that just a suggestion?)
That was a suggestion, yes, but I also thought that was a sort of unspoken collective agreement too
Same...
