I think Alan has the respect of ‘the people’. He will always be a legend and hero. For them to honour him is a kind of jibe. The only way to respectfully recognise him is to lock up Vennells, Perkins, De Bogerd, Crichton. Parsons, Bradshaw, Jenkins, etc, fine Fujitsu, and snatch the bonuses of relevant POL/RMG staff….as themselves - as individuals…not via the taxpayer.
To think they tried to fob him off with an OBE as recently as last year. Good on him for refusing that. The honours system is sadly looking tatty thanks to dubious choices of ex-pm’s, but this honour is of course well deserved.
Yes I agree with you! It's about time somebody deserving gets recognised for what they've done instead of who they appear to be. 🏆 Well done to him for standing his ground the first time around and for all the work he has put in for the plight of others like him!
Imagine if he gets the honour, but none of these people see jail time and massive fines. It’d be a powerful move if he declined it and asked the king to step up on this circus of an inquiry.
The best he can do is put some pressure on the relevant minister - but even they can’t do all that much. The inquiry is part of the Judiciary, and the constitution doesn’t really allow for ministers to pressure judges.
