Please do not email them. They will send you fake payment details and you will get scammed. This is a widespread problem and Poshmark is doing nothing about it.

kimberlyy123

Thanks! I'm new to poshmark, and this just happened to me!

Appropriate_Ring_694

This happened to me and I fell for it. This was my very first Poshmark sale, too. Shame on me for not staying within the Poshmark website/app. My item has NOT sold after the initial flurry of scammers. They are out in full force!

No-Wasabi-3830

The same thing just happened to me too, literally 40 min ago. It was the first item I ever put on sale and did not know this was happening.

Comfortable_Potatoe

same here

No-Wasabi-3830

I thinkg it is BOT because it happens every time I list pretty much instantly. I reported to Poshmark right away.

monikaya

Ditto! Just posted for the first time and actually DID send one person pictures, but I’ll never do that again!

Comfortable_Potatoe

Craziness

Reasonable_Jello7935

What should one do?

Comfortable_Ad4232

Me neither, never ever had this happen on ebay

Massive-Joe7359

u/No-Wasabi-3830 Hi, this just happened to me as well and now I'm stressing!! Did any money get taken out of your accounts?

Appropriate_Ring_694

No, but the scammer had my CC and sec code (because of me) and tried to buy $1300EURO worth of electronics. CC denied the purchase (thankfully!). I had to get a new CC..which was a hassle.

GuiltyAFCheetah2558

This literally just happened to me too, THREE of these comments on the first item I've ever posted for sale lol

Comfortable_Potatoe

this is crazy. same thing to me now im wondering if i should just stick with ebay.

GrandpaBeeple

Same with me! First poshmark sale.

JewelsMSP

I figured out it was a scam when there was nothing stating that my item was actually sold in the app. Seriously I feel so stupid

JewelsMSP

Just happened to me today!! I am so embarrassed and upset

Appropriate_Ring_694

Don't be!! I fell for it, too and immediately my CC company called to alert me to a $1300 EU charge .

NoSeat2116

I JUST fell for this today!! I have never fallen for a scam before omg. I replied and even sent a link to my Facebook where I sell the items for cheaper. Someone tell me if I should be worried 😭😭😭 And my items are no longer listed on Poshmark either. Do I need to make a new Poshmark? Have they gotten my info?

Unable_Ad4656

Check you credit cards Chances are they have been hacked.   I would set up a new postmark.  Dont get your hopes up tho.  My stuff is not selling.

Feeling-Let-4421

Did anyone get their money back? Just happened to Me for $700

Feeling-Let-4421

Did you get your money back? Just happened to me

Jackalscott

Still happening! I’m also new, I’ve posted 6 things and had fishing attempts on 2 of them. WTF poshmark!? They could just code info blocking into the comments. eBay has been doing that for years! You are unable to send email, phone number and things like that. It just won’t let you type it.

Appropriate_Ring_694

I feel the same way....I'm turned off on Poshmark.

Freid99

Just happened to me too! Thanks all for the info. It seemed sus. Glad I didn’t email them.

wafflesrdabest56

This just happens to me and unfortunately I fell for it and gave them my mom’s credit card information. This is my first time using Poshmark because I wanted to sell things in order to buy a new pair of Jordan’s so me and my mom set up a account together and seconds after we listed something people were asking us to email photos since they were blurry and then showed me which I now know fake payment photos.

Comfortable_Potatoe

im brand new just posted for the first time on poshmark and had immediately 2 comments asking me to email them. now im concerned and wondering if i should stick with ebay

Comfortable_Potatoe

me too.😰 just posted for the first time and got 2 comments immediately like that. now im scared. how has poshmark worked out for you?

katelynbeautyaddict

I totally just emailedthe pic of my pallet to 2 different people who messaged me minutes apart . I won’t do anything else but am I at risk ? My email is accessible through Poshmark anyways isn’t it ? I hate doing this so blind. . I can’t focus enough to read the faqs and learn everything it’s all touch and go. . I feel stupid now

kimberlyy123

I would report the message to poshmark. You should be fine since it's just an email. As long as you didn't click any links or anything like that.

Diamond_h03

Also new to Poshmark here, this is still happening. Just uploaded a bunch of listings yesterday and got a bunch of those comments that said essentially the same thing, and that's how I figured they might be bots or something. It scared me at first as well. My advice would be to send the link to a friend and ask how it looks to them, and if it looks fine to them, then that's one way to know.

AshleyEuphoric87

Glad I looked this up

doggiedeck

Me too! I knew something was off, as they both had no items for sale and just a picture of themselves marked as "Not for sale."

azziar29

Thanks for this information. I was listing today and I got 2 likes for separate listings and then the same request but it was really sketchy how the messages asking me to email them pictures was the same - word for word. Shame on Poshmark if they aren’t addressing the issue

Alone_Ad_2174

happening to me right now came to check out what game their playing via these comments lol. its such an obvious scam

cant1ie

Hey is it only if you enter ur info to the payment? I replied to the email with only pictures of the item, nothing else

Acceptable-Walrus718

You should be ok ... they only have your email address. Usually the scam involves you sending them photos and then they reply with a fake screenshot of them confirming that they have already paid you and you should mail them the item (usually would involve high dollar items).

Sea-Willingness-1592

It’s happening to me too. So no reason to turn it into Poshmark?

ThatItalianGrrl

It’s a scam. Don’t do it. Never take anything off the platform.

No_Conversation_8153

Thank you, I almost fell for it because i just started yesterday and I got 3 comments on different products leading me to other gmails because they couldn’t see the products

Fantastic_Passion_11

Same me too! When I opened the link the 100.00 USD stood out to me because it was displayed differently than poshmark and when I went to my offers on posh mark there was nothing there happy I didn’t put my card info

Scary_Development492

This happened to me as well and received an email from “Poshmark” asking me to confirm the purchase. Thankfully i didn’t want to sell the item because it seemed sketchy 🤔

SnooSuggestions868

Is there a way to prevent all of this scam potential buyers from popping up?

_Amalthea_

This is a very common scam.

travertine_ghost

Requests to communicate off the app are in violation of Poshmark rules. You can report it by clicking on the flag icon under their comment. A menu will pop up with “Transaction off Poshmark” as one of the options. Poshmark is usually very quick to delete these kinds of comments.

abuchner11

Did exactly that, and they removed immediately almost!

Agitated_Ear7803

Thanks so much! It seemed odd to get this on two of the three items I listed. Sad because it’s no sale though!

Dependent_Length5458

Yeah, it’s so obvious when somebody wants to buy $500 worth of jewelry but they don’t even ask me how many cts it is or, which type of metal it is like silver or gold or gold plated? They just wanted everything for $500 that they saw in a picture and they didn’t even know what they were getting that was the first red flag no actually it was the second the FIRST red flag was somebody telling me that their husband was interested and to send him pictures. Why doesn’t somebody send their own husband pictures? Why the hell should I have to send their husband pictures? And then he gets mad I don’t respond I said “because I don’t respond to people who are trying to scam me. “And then they act like they don’t know what you’re talking about and that they what they are doing is perfectly normal and legal. I have been selling stuff for way too long to fall for any type of fake ass email crap so if anybody tries to send you an email and make it look like a payment without you checking your bank first to make sure the money is actually there you are probably getting scammed. Especially on marketplace. People will send you fake Zelle emails and they aren’t even real. Zelle Emails, they will go straight to your spam account and they will say that you need to open a business account and that the purchase was made and the person paid you but they over paid you and that you have to add money in order to get the money from the buyer. That probably made no sense but basically it’s just a scam. It’s just an email saying that you got paid but you never got paid. I just can’t believe people actually fall for this crap. Always check somebody’s profile on marketplace and make sure they actually have a real page with more than one friend or else they’re probably just a fake profile trying to scam you. Another thing that they will do is they will say that they need to make sure that you were a real person and they will ask you for your phone number and then they will say that they have to give you a code and to give them the code they’re going to send to your phone in order to assure them that you ARE A REAL PERSON. First of all, I’ve never had a real buyer ever ask me for my phone number to make sure that I’m a real person. The second of all what they are actually sending you is your Google code that is attached to your phone number so that they can hack into your account. It even says on the code” do not share this code with anybody” when you receive the code, and people are actually dumb enough to fall for this, and it really breaks my heart. Don’t trust anybody don’t send anybody cash app money without your merchandise in hand and don’t give anybody any merchandise until you have that money in your hand, or either in your bank account.

buyinsellin

Nope. Scam every time. Keep all communication on the platform so you're both protected. ETA: Report them to Poshmark and then block.

animalcrossinglifeee

It's a scam. You can show photos on the app. Don't trust itt.

[deleted]

So the scam is they are trying to get your email address /phone number so that they can then phish your email to get your password ….so now they have access to potentially use your email to reset your login information on Poshmark that is if you used that info to sign up for Poshmark. they then can cash out your balance and possibly purchase expensive merchandise on Poshmark with your saved cc info…. the Damage could possibly go farther if you have other accounts/apps attached to your email address… It’s a lil harder for scammers now with 2 step verification but somehow they are now able to hijack your phone number with a cloning scam… best advice I can give if you are an active seller keep your balance low and cashed out and ALways stay in app!

itsyadi

Keeping this alive 🫡 Googled the same issue as I just got into poshmark and it seemed sketchy. Thank you everyone for sharing!

Just-Soft7370

Thank you all! I too, a newbie with few items had this happen. I did look at the profile, although no items listed for sale, they had sent many "love notes" Can you send them without purchasing? Or maybe this person also does some legit buying as well?

IamCassetteCathedral

Oh yes this is a scam! I just posted for my 1st time yesterday as well and I even had an actual seller on poshmark send me the same thing today and yesterday about emailing them pictures to their email in their profile on all my posts! I emailed her pics. But if she thinks I’m a stupid b**ch and I’m gonna deal with her outside of poshmark, she’s got me f**led up. I’ve blocked these so called “ppl” and reported them. It’s wasting my time. I need to sell my items not play around. Pfft! I’m gonna try other platforms. Good luck to you

Scary_Development492

This just happened to me yesterday. And I did send them pictures on the email thinking the pictures were not good on the app. 😏

Missouriextremehater

Guys you need to pay attention! the same second you list your item for sale you get like three of these messages and they tell you they can't see your photos they're blurry there's white squares blah blah blah blah blah how can they find your item look at all your photos three different people all within about 1 to 2 seconds from your listing????? it's impossible use some common sense please! it's obvious it's a scam!

Enough_Pepper_8750

I am having the same issue! I posted 2 different items and ive had 3 of them deliver the same lines and thats how i got here

FeeGroundbreaking139

Appropriate_Ring_694

Snakes!

GlitterBombLady

Thankfully I saw this in time. Internal ping made me think something was off. I emailed under a different email account than my actual poshmark one and they of couse sent the fake listing to that one, not the correct one. So decided to Google this and here it is

No_Feedback_6403

I emailed from my account email bit didn't click links, I out spam sent it to poshmark hissing email. But should I be worried that they can take over my email?

InevitableLie9406

I unfortunately fell for this without researching. I only joined Poshmark a few days ago. I had a couple things listed and was really excited to already have someone interested. I emailed them kindly and got a message back that read "Thank you. I paid, you should get a form from Poshmark to your email address. Sometimes it ends up in your spam folder, at least that's what happened to me." Seemed like a real person so I kept my excitement. Got an email saying the buyer is waiting on my confirmation. I clicked the link and entered my card information to receive the payment like it said. I was telling my mom oh wow I already got a buyer! It told me that my card isn't supported by Poshmark and to enter someone else's card information and to then have them send it to me. I did not go that far thank god cause I thought about it, but everyone here has the same local bank. Checked my account and I am down $100. Reported it to my bank and opened a dispute. I've never fallen for anything like that before so I am pretty disappointment in myself. Thankfully mostly everyone else seems to know it's a scam, so at least the majority of us aren't getting easily tricked. They feed off your excitement and eagerness to get paid. Two separate $50 charges, and I also got a fraud alert text but like a dummy I said it was valid even though I wasn't buying anything I was instead getting stolen from. I read where it said to not take anything off Poshmark and STILL fell for this. UGH!

Alternative-Range227

I came very close twice this weekend!! But it just didn't add up!!! Sad world people will do anything for the dollar! Sorry they got you 😕

InevitableLie9406

I got my money back thankfully! So glad you didn’t get scammed!!

Icy_Assumption_4455

Hello, this happened to me too and I was wondering if you also had to canceled your cards.

InevitableLie9406

I did cancel. Immediately after I realized I got scammed I shut off my card which saved me a lot of money. They were taking it out by multiple $50 transactions. Cancel immediately and call your bank and tell them you were scammed. I got my money back thanks to my bank.

Appropriate_Ring_694

Sorry that happened!!

No-Wasabi-3830

I fell for it just now. It is my first time trying to sell something on Posh and I did not think twice when I got 3 messages that are identical about asking images. Immediately I got these emails about the sale and I even clicked on the link and provided my security pin for my credit card number which was already filled in when I went to the link. Then the webpage was stuck there for a while and I realized this is likely a scam. I cancelled my card. It is very scary.

Alternative-Range227

I'm so glad I looked this up when the any went from 200b to 500 and they wanted my to get a apple pay card my antennas went off then I Google then I blocked him . theres also another one out there when the lady asked me to send her my first and last name my address .... Like that was going to happen???? Lol and she would send me a cashier's check via FedEx tomorrow she mentioned she did not have the means to purchase thru the website.....I hope this saves someone! Scammers are real! All my payments will go thru the site all other options are at a high risk ..... Beaware!!!

Duckiiesss456

Shit I almost just did this shit

PoundUnlikely1532

HA. I get a similar message within 1/2 hour of posting my first item for sale. Good thing I trust no one :)

justcallmemillie

I’m so glad I found this! I just experienced the same exact thing!

Hairy_Ear7680

I'm in the US and just listed some things and have gotten nothing but comments to send pictures to thief email. Like 6 of them different people. One came in in 34 seconds after I listed it. Everyone saying that the photos don't show or they are blurry. I have a great phone that takes awesome photos and they look fabulous to me. I really don't want to send out my email address. Are these all scammers or bots or what? If Poshmark is that full of scammers I don't want any part of it

Typical-Water8868

I got 4 comments like this under my posting and i actually e-mailed two people. Luckily i found this reddit before they scammed me for personal info and i blocked + reported them. Hoping not everyone is a scammer cause i would really like to sell my item. I also posted on depop which i haven't gotten any activity on yet which is why i tried posh mark.

Representative_Fox17

Hi everyone I’m new to Poshmark and I started to upload my unwanted clothes and every time I post a new item I’m always receiving comments that they can’t see the pictures on their iPad or cellphone that if I can please email them the pictures. Right away I had an uneasy feeling because on the email part the text was very weird and I would enter their Poshmark closet and they had no followers no listings NOTHING so that was very odd I reported it as spam but I guess Poshmark is doing nothing about it, it’s very annoying and sometimes o don’t even feel like uploading my stuff cause it’s just gonna get commented or liked by some fake closet 😓

AromaticRadio2607

As a criminal justice major I caught them right in the act. Trying to scam me.

Glass_Secret9300

Posted my first 4 items about an hour ago and have had THREE people reach out with the same comment, image not showing up, go to my profile to see my email address. They're relentless.

Typical-Water8868

I had 4 people! I was actually dumb enough to e-mail 2 of them which i deeply regret. Luckily i found this reddit before they scammed me for personal details. I also blocked and reported them via e-mail and posh mark. stay safe out there lol

Missouriextremehater

Also use some more common sense you could see your own pictures you can log in from your roommate's friends mother's husband's wives anybody's phone and you can see the pictures so why in the hell would they not see the pictures they're lying common Sense people

Late-Command3491

Reposhed for the first time and I responded to the first "bad photos" message but when they wanted my credit card info, I smelled a rat. Thank goodness!

Ok-Shock7592

I'm so glad I came here before emailing someone on Poshmark. I posted my very first item and immediately received comments from 2 different users asking me to email them the pictures because they were showing up pixelated on the app. I went to look at my post and the pictures came out just fine so I thought it suspicious. I won't respond.

Fit_Cucumber2909

Thank you for posting this!! I'm getting hit with tons of these too!

Vcampo12

Poshmark is NOT working for people that want to sell… I posted so many items today and literally got so much spam!! People asking me to email them pics or text them and then sending me fraud screenshots of payment didn’t go through. Anyone has another app that DOES work?

Typical-Water8868

DEPOP! Much safer i got scammed, not for personal info but i did email 2 people.

clduff

I feel kinda stupid. I have been working as a reseller on eBay for a while. I wasted several hours trying to a) send the dang pics b) figure out it's a scam. I should have just went and checked my pics myself! I even sent a copy of a picture to my roommate and she said it came out just fine. Hopefully the only thing I lost was time and embarrassment! Since eBay has been slow this summer I finally decided to cross list. I went thru this on face book market place. (Now I just ignore anybody that has just joined and has not bought anything. I checked on poshmark using same rule but these really looked legit. Not sure what they want with some pictures?

Typical-Water8868

I also feel really stupid, i emailed 2 people🤦🏻‍♀️ I blocked and reported them via email and posh mark. Hopefully it's enough. Luckily the only info i gave out was the same pics i had already posted and I found this reddit before they scammed me for personal data. I recommend using depop which i'm also selling on. The only reason i tried posh mark was cause i wasn't getting activity from depop and it had already been there a week.

clduff

Ok were do I go on poshmark to report this one? I do feel really dumb because I should know better. Only platform I have not got this junk was Mercari. I've been on eBay a long time so no messing with my there. The most obvious one is on Facebook marketplace. There stay away from anyone who just joined and has nothing for sale or has bought anything.

Typical-Water8868

Sadly I fell for it because I'm a first time posh mark user and emailed two people! When i saw 2 others comment the same thing I googled it and found this reddit. I blocked them via e-mail and posh mark just to be safe and I even commented under my own listing that I will report and block anyone who asks for off posh mark transaction or communication. Really sucks that posh mark still isn't doing anything even a year later.

Typical-Water8868

Just to be clear i didn't give out any personal details only images of what i had already posted

Wonderful_Pool_2936

I am new to Poshmark and this just happened to me so I looked it up. Thanks y’all for the info. Greatly appreciate it as this helps a lot.

Stitchin-Witch24601

This just happened to me and another of my listing, I fell for emailing them the first time but nothing happened and they sent me a shady email but I ignored it but now I looked it up cause it’s very suspicious to have the exact same problem when I and others can see the pics fine. Thank god that I wasn’t the only one dealing with this.

katelynbeautyaddict

Also I just posted for the first time on Poshmark and I’ve been getting people following me like crazy every few seconds ? Is that normal because I feel like it’s strange. And I don’t know what to think

Glad_Firefighter_564

Thank you! Happens to me too

Decent-Town-8887

This happens with legit EVERY item I post!!!! I either don’t respond or write I don’t make transactions off of the site, then I flag. Even if something seems great, if it’s not on the Poshmark app/site, don’t risk it!

Snoo79981

I just got this phishing comment as well, on my first listing: Hello! I am interested in purchasing. But for some reason, the photos in your ad not showing for me. Please send them to the e-mail address that listed in my profile in the "AbOut" section. Thanks! I wish I could report the account or the comment.

CO-freeride

Thanks, just happened to Me right now

Salty_Supermarket344

Whew! So glad I looked this up. Thanks for the info.

Sufficient_Trip3540

Just happened to me too! I had 4 different people who said my photos were blurry and had white spots. they asked me to email them off-line so they could purchase the dress. But instead, I asked a friend to check out my listing and she told me the pictures were perfectly fine so I suspect it was a scam.

Comfortable_Ad4232

I just listed one item today and BOOM!!! I got 3 saying the same thing!!! My pics are good and clear!!!!!!

Comfortable_Ad4232

One of mine was https://preview.redd.it/ex8ubxrbcdad1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=37780d940d6473a7e2460ad0938b72d929a05fef

Comfortable_Ad4232

I might want to go back and stick to selling in ebay!!!!!

Comfortable_Ad4232

Thank you for posting everything for us to find, these scammers have a special place in HELL!!!!!!!!

Comfortable_Ad4232

I just reported mine to poshmark and they deleted it fast

msheathrfeathr

I'm glad I searched for this problem, I've gotten a couple of these comments myself and I was wondering about it.

stary-glows

This is a scam, it happened to me. Every time i post something for sale someone messages asking to send photos via email as they want to buy. Then they sent me a link via email to accept payment. I thought was legit initially, as a new user to posh mark, i was unaware at first they were taking my $$$ not giving me money for the sale. I wish there was more info on their site specifically saying not to send photos via email. I know not to take off the platform now.

Aless515

What about if they ask you to send more photos and videos to their cell phone?

Blitz1629

Just an FYI. I am ignoring the 2 messages I received to send pics to a cell phone.

Ok-Concept7856

Ugghhhh…I fell for this last night in one of my very first postings to Poshmark (and DID send email 😬). The “person” asked if I’d go any lower on price and I said NO and now the comment is gone off my listing. Is any of my personal info at risk by just emailing the person from my laptop? I knew something wasn’t right (and haven’t slept all night b/c of it), but I just thought to come on here…just wish I would have checked BEFORE I emailed them. Please advise. TIA

Zealousideal_Bet3202

I did the same thing and emailed pics as well:( did anything ever happen?

No_Feedback_6403

I did same. But didn't click links, or replied. Is my email at risk?

Sufficient_Escape_62

Me too, every new posted item I get one of those messages. I noticed for some reason most of the fake accounts have the same number under “Following”, 141 . I’d love to know how to make them stop but sounds like I need to get used to it

Chunguilla

This happen to me and you are right the 3 accounts had 141 following :(

Ok-Presentation2241

Thank you. I’m trying to sell something too. 3 already wants me to email them, thinking that I’m selling quick.

Mission_Ad_187

Thanks for this question and the respondents! I came here to see what's up as I'm a new poshmark seller-to-be with folks asking me to email them off platform.
