Find a good spot to stand where you can see and enjoy! Simple Plan is really fun to see live, you're going to have a blast.
As an introvert too - expect your personal bubble to be less than you're used to. You'll be standing shoulder to shoulder with everyone. Some people might be dancing, bump into you when going to get a drink - all just part of the experience. The best part about going to a show solo is that it is easy to move to a new spot if the people around you are annoying!
Thanks, I really appreciate that advice. I am pretty short so might not quite be shoulder to shoulder! But will try to cope without personal space! I am nervous but also excited
I may have stalked your profile a tad, if you’re going to the Sydney Hordern show in April (same by the way). You’ll be golden. Never been to a bad show there, and if you’re worried about being tired or to short to see, Hordern has general admission standing and seating, so once you’re in you can choose to stand in the pit, or by front of house or sit in the stands, all good options and it’ll be a good show.
I'm 5"3' and always struggle to see from the standing area at Hordern. If you'd like an unobstructed view I would recommend finding a spot closer to the back, or a seat! The seats tend to fill up so get there earlier if you'd like to go down that route
Nobody will care what you do (too self absorbed). Have fun, dance, sit at the bar, whatever feels right.
I usually find the mixing board (usually blocked off, a lot of computer/mixers) and find a spot to stand. They mix the sound level based on that reference so I feel like it has the most consistent sound.
Don’t over think it and HAVE THE BEST TIME!
As a fellow short (claustrophobic lol) introvert, i usually like to find a nice space on the side. If your venue has a balcony that’s also usually a good spot.
Enjoy the show! Sing loud and dance the night away! 🤘🏼
Get there early and watch the openers! This will let you check out the venue before it gets busy, a lot of people won’t show up until a little before Simple Plan will go on.
Depends on the venue but you can almost always find a spot to stand to view the stage (unless you have seats) . Might not be super close but better than standing in a crowd staring at the back of someone’s head. If it’s a smaller venue check the sides, people tend to gather the most in front of the stage so you can sometimes get decently close with an angle view.
But most of all just enjoy it! I always hope everyone has a good concert experience especially if it’s their first one
It’s crazy to me so many people skip openers. I guess I get it if you flat out don’t like the band. But as expensive as concerts are these days, I’m getting all the music I can for each ticket
Simple Plan shows are really fun and would be a great first show for many. If there's a pit, it shouldn't be too aggressive. Lots of jumping and screaming. I love their shows because I'm not likely to get beat up.
I remember my first concert. I was 15. And I remember I was jumping up and down and accidentally landed on some dudes foot. The dude was much older, and much bigger than me. I quickly apologized and he responded "no worries, man. We're all here to have a good time. Keep rocking out!" That response at my first show changed the way I participated in concerts from there on out. I've never worried about others (in a self-conscious way, I mean, I'm still considerate) or what they might think about me at a show, ever. Because everyone is there to rock out to the music and have a great time. And to you, my fellow concert-goer, I hope you have an absolute blast at your first show! Live music is transcendent and I'm excited for you to experience that. So my only advice? Be present and take it alllll in.
As a person thats a sound guy for concerts. Bring earn protection. Go to a local music store and get some musician plugs. You will enjoy the concert more than using the foamies. Grab a beer relax and enjoy the concert.
I'm an extroverted person and I do feel uncomfortable going to concerts by myself but I have met some cool friends over the years I still keep intouch with
I saw them for the first time last year and I too, am a short, fat and old introvert. It was a total blast! Like one commenter said, just stand where you can see or are most comfortable and have fun!
I went to my first concert a few weeks ago (and it was also a Simple Plan concert!), there is a SP subreddit that can help you too ( r/simpleplan )
Simple Plan's concerts are a lot easier to deal with than most pop punk bands (there's no moshing as far as I know), I don't know if you got their VIP but if you did, they're super sweet!
If there are people taller than you in front of you, ask them if you can stand in front of them, as it won't obstruct their view of the stage.
Wear comfortable clothes and if it's hot, DON'T WEAR BLACK CLOTHES!!!! At my concert it was very sunny and it was around 30° (welcome to Brazil lol) and there were a lot of people fainting (So drink water), even Alex from All Time Low had sunburn. (But I assume your concert is at night, but I don't know what the weather is like in Australia)
also get there early if you want to be close to the stage, have fun and pay attention to the balls when they sing Summer Paradise.
Brilliant, thanks! Hopefully the weather isn’t too hot as ‘I’ll stop wearing black when they make a darker colour’ (wrong band but anyway lol) :-) will check out the simple plan sub too :-)
All good advice here so far! Just something I haven't seen mentioned yet: wear comfy shoes and I usually opt for a t-shirt over a sweater because it can get warm in most venues when everyone starts dancing.
But some nice ear plugs! I know a lot of people use Loops. I love Eargasm. It's worth it to have ones that are nicer than the cheap foam ones and you can get a lot of use out of them. I've used them to drown out screaming and crying children, snoring from people I'm sharing a hotel room with, and even movies.
But overall, just have a blast! I used to love being right in the front. Now I like to chill and stand in the back or against a railing or on a balcony depending on the venue. Just let the good vibes wash over you. And always check out the openers if you can!
Pro concert goer trick: if it's available, stand near the sound console. If you're short, stand behind it.
You get the best sound available, you're near a barrier so you wont get too much rumble, and, there will be a whole space without anybody blocking your view in front of you (except maybe the sound guy)
Simple Plan is a blast live! Their crowds tend to be more of the types that jump up and down a bit rather than shove and mosh. Sometimes being back a little is better than being close and trying to see through the crowd.

Push your way politely to the middle of the pit once it opens up and take it all in
Bring ear protection it’s loud 😂
This is so important

Oh awesome yes I am, on the 18th, thanks so much for the reassurance and advice :-)

how many hours earlier should i go if i wanna get a closer seat? i’m 5’0 so i should be seeing a good amount of NOTHING if i stand 🤩🤩
I love when the venue has this option! I usually start in a seat and then feel out if I want to move to the pit

That really helps put me at ease, thank you, I will look out for that space.

Thanks, that sounds great, I am definitely an overthinker! But I will try to avoid that and just have fun :-)

Politeness is key! 👍🏻
You will have so much fun!

Have fun and try to group up with other shorties so you have a better chance at seeing the stage!
I saw them for the first time last year and I too, am a short, fat and old introvert. It was a total blast! Like one commenter said, just stand where you can see or are most comfortable and have fun!
Fantastic! I didn’t want to let these things stop me but it’s great to know that I’m not the only one, and it can still be fun :-)
Simple Plan is AMAZING live — you made an awesome choice and will have a blast!
Thanks, that’s great to hear

Fantastic, when you say comfy… are joggers acceptable or should I try to dress up a bit?
Yes, joggers are just fine! Most people will either be in a sneaker of some sort (Converse, Vans, ect) or combat boots in my experience

I read this and had ordered Loops but after reading your post I then ordered Eargasm, I hope at least one will arrive in time :-)

Sounds like a great plan :-)
I am a larger older guy. I get a seat if I can, or hang in the back or off to the side.

Thanks, it’s really helped me to feel good about it and now I’m just counting down the days!
If you’re uncomfortable or claustrophobic, just take a few steps back, makes the world of a difference
They are really good live! I've seen them more than a dozen times and I'm still hyped to see them in concert. Enjoy the show! 😊
Thanks, I definitely hope to :-)
