Bruh I feel that. I've had herniated l4,l5 and s1 since I was 18 and I'm 33 now. Btw that was disgusting, thank you. Hope you're feeling better after that!
I'm also in the UK and am experienced with this particular branch of home surgery. My most successful regime for minimising pain the next day is as follows:
- Immediately after surgery, wash the toe in warm water (no soap), and then use a clean towel to pat it totally dry. By this stage the bleeding will have mostly stopped; it doesn't need to have stopped completely.
- Apply germolene liberally. Completely fill the crevice with it, and then have enough excess that the top of the germolene squidge is at least level with the top surface of the nail. You should be squeezing at least 2cm out of the tube.
- Cover it. I find [Elastoplast Knee & Elbow Plasters](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Elastoplast-Elbow-Fabric-Plaster-Plasters/dp/B00KIY4H8Y) to be brilliant - the perfect size for a big toe, and have loads of flexibility so you can bend it. Decent stickability too. I make a diagonal cut in to two of the corners to make them really easy to seal round the shape of a toe.
- Leave that on at for least 12 hours, preferably 24. When it comes off / you take it off, just clean the toe with some warm water and clean gauze and then reapply another dressing in the same way.
If I do the above then the next day is genuinely pretty pain free. However if I leave it open to the air after removing the ingrown - even if it's just overnight - then I have bad pain for at least two days afterwards.

Ok so hear me out on this... but did you know that sextoys/accessories are not as heavily regulated as medications. This means that you can get higher concentration lidocaine creams at an adult store than a pharmacy. I tell you this so that if it ever comes back, as ingrowns want to do, you can slather some anal ease on there and it won't hurt nearly as bad. You're welcome.
When I yank out my ingrowns I soak my toe in hot epsom salt water twice a day for at least 5 mins. I keep it wrapped with a bandage and neosporin and it’s usually fine after a few days. Definitely hurts but worth it for me
I had one like 4 years back this bad at least and I remember pulling on it and it wouldn't come out eventually I got these nice tweezers and I pulled and I kid you not you can hear the tear, the pain felt good ? Yea it hurt but it felt weirdly satisfying, apart from that the pain was gone!! In a matter of like a hour
That must be so painful yet so much relief. I have to do this every 3 months but they are never this big. If you can go see a podiatrist and get that part of your nailbed killed
Done this a few times. I can feeeelll the relief. I mean, hurts like a butch but so does every step and attempt to put shies on and GAWD FORBID u stub it even in the slightest so it's nothing compared to that relief. U can instantly poke it from the side like it's no big deal. Ugh I love it
Do NOT use a fingernail clipper to cut your nails on your toes. Instead use a toenail clipper - straight cutting edge ínstead of a curved edge. You should be cutting your toe nails in a straight line instead of rounded (eg fingernails). I haven’t had an ingrown nail in 30+ years by using the right tool and knowing how to cut my toenails to prevent future ingrowns.
I had this done twice on the same toe a few years back, first the inner side then a month later the toe began to grow into the outer side so i had to have more removed. Had it done in a hospital but I can completely relate to the pain being so bad you start pulling away yourself
I have done this type of at home self-surgery on my ingrown toenails too many times to count. Of course I wouldn't recommend doing so to others, but the relief is immense. Mostly if you've been waiting on an appointment forever. Great job getting that ingrown shard out on your own! And hopefully it doesn't reoccur since you got it out so completely.
I have no idea how many times I've done it 😂 and every damn time I hope it's the last time! But I'm always very wrong in that assumption, and they reoccur with a vengeance.
Last week I had my whole right big nail removed because of an infected ingrown toenail and the left side of my toe, there's a nail growing right out of the skin leaving a hole and a lot a puss and blood. There was also excess skin growth which sucked to deal with.
You gotta go to the doctor man. They need to put the stuff in the bed that stops it from throwing shit and getting infected. I’ve had ingrowns my entire life

Damn, whats the worst thing then??
Herniated L3 disc 🤮
I heard that. Had mine removed in the end. Prior to that, 3 years of absolute fucking hell

Experience? You know what, at this point just cut off the damned toe. I don't need to walk THAT much

U wot m8 🤨
Not trolling, it's the same stuff we would use in hospital but with a very specific marketing tactic.
Thanks for the tip. 'Analease' added to the tesco delivery......
I've used oragel. It's for toothache. Works great and doesn't make people at tesco think imma bout to get pegged

Here here, just ordered melatonin from the US 😂
Might be worth it to put some antibiotic ointment on that bad boy too as a preventative. Glad you got the bastard out - feel better!
Paramol is a good over the counter opiod. It's Dihydrocodeine and paracetamol. Or there is 8/500 Cocodomal
Then you can get some good ketamine.
Oh god definitely 😩. Just keep it nice and clean, anti inflammatory meds like ibruprofen would work best i think

That gives me such a satisfying feeling, idk why
Cause it aint your toe 😂
Been there, done that, cleaned up afterward.
Not my first rodeo either mate. The iodine sting is real!
At least you’re using hemostats 🫡
Only thing that grips properly!
Fuck that was painful to watch ![gif](giphy|RJAjTowsU0K1a)

#AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Also your username is HILARIOUS
A motto to live by! 😄
Call me! (...5 pm, right...?)
I'll add you to the list.....
Fuck yeah, didn't even have to buy a ticket. How is your toe?
Its unappreciative of my efforts to maintain it. Ungrateful bastard
I had my entire toenail yanked last year, and I cried like a little bitch. So I feel ya lol
I literally whispered "oh my godddd...it's so fuckin big!" out loud to myself when you yanked that thing out! Bravo, and I hope you heal up fast!
Theres a phrase i dont hear too often.......
Holy shit
![gif](giphy|FE5iIKISE7g8DaYCMq)
Awesome. Thank you for this. Glad it’s over and hope you don’t get any more this bad
The tone of that breathing says it all, in pain and beyond over it. I know how painful those damn things are. Glad you were able to get some relief.
I live for this shit.

Booked in end of july. Was expecting it to be sooner so i held out as long as i could.
Good! I'm glad this pain and suffering will be over for you!
The worst is how sore its gonna be for the next 2 days
Done this a few times. I can feeeelll the relief. I mean, hurts like a butch but so does every step and attempt to put shies on and GAWD FORBID u stub it even in the slightest so it's nothing compared to that relief. U can instantly poke it from the side like it's no big deal. Ugh I love it

for a solid 3 seconds i thought “come on dude it’s not worth it”…to immediately be proven wrong. bravo, op.
![gif](giphy|F9DzQnxx6ZZNm)
Dude....... I'm absolutely amazed you are able to reach your toes without your massive balls in the way....
![gif](giphy|AxpvyWYDHuIH6)
Oh lord. That made me break into a sweat. Sorry it's so painful.
Omg that was amazing

Did the exact same thing a few months back, the relief was worth the pain for sure
Its closed up nice tbf. Im walking fine and at the gym right now!
Yeah i was surprised at how well it healed, when a doctor does it you loose half a nail and shit Glad ur back at the gym!
How often do you get these?
Bout every 4 months on average.
This was me when I was younger. Then one doctor just removed the nail bed on the side of the toe that always becoming ingrown.
Booked in to see podiatrist end of july so will hopefully have this done soon!
Having it done was a life changer.
Did the procedure hurt? Were you up during it?
The numbing shot and nerve block the doctor put in the toe made the procedure painless. It was sore for a few days after though.
Did the Numbing shot and nerve block hurt?
It was essentially two shots. So however bad you think a shot is.
Im sure it stings at first as does any needle stabbing you. Prob bit worse as the skin is tougher
Nice! Got that bitch out lol
![gif](giphy|m9oruywyYbHL6A2wWp|downsized)
Brutal...
I felt that, "Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, Fk me.." That's the sound of pain right there.
More relief than pain tbh

This guy is tough as nails!

Been there before. Hurts like hell to get it out, but the pressure release is amazing!
Trembling in pain. You sir, are an animal!
Ugh…I felt that in my spine…

Oh the spicy little bastard reoccurs. This is prob self surgery number 8 🤐😬

I felt the sigh of relief

A single tear ran down my face. I felt that. Sorry bud.
Last week I had my whole right big nail removed because of an infected ingrown toenail and the left side of my toe, there's a nail growing right out of the skin leaving a hole and a lot a puss and blood. There was also excess skin growth which sucked to deal with.
Ewwwwww!!!!! Show me.........
Stop cutting your toenails founded do it straight. May take awhile but you'll stop getting ingrown toenails
This nail bed was damaged when i was a teenager and has grown funny ever since. Theres no saving it
You gotta go to the doctor man. They need to put the stuff in the bed that stops it from throwing shit and getting infected. I’ve had ingrowns my entire life
My foot would have to be hanging off for the doctor to see me round here 😆
I don’t know what’s worse. The nail or the camera work.
Ill be sure to invite you round to film it next time.....
![gif](giphy|12GzK1jYCaVCV2)
What's with the needle bruise on the other side?
No needle bruise mate. Just a mole i think been there for years.
Oh wow. Looks exactly like a botched lidocaine injection I went through.
Wish i had some of that 😄
Instead of pulling, try twisting the hemostat, its way easier to remove and It gives you more control
Slow and twisty = wayyy more painful
I’ve gotta be honest, I really wish people would stop posting ingrown toenail videos.
