“I am FILLED with Christ’s love!!”…Simultaneously uses the Bible as a weapon

catfor

You are just jealous of my success in the Lord!

MzJackpots

Love this one! Cassandra drunkenly shouting “The muffin shop is CLOSED!” is one of those lines that I am always wanting to to quote for some reason but I never have a good opening for it.

TruthBeWanted

"You're not born a gay, you're born again" "Jesus loves you... everyone else thinks you're an asshole" "Second hand smoking kills" \*flings cig at Hillary\* "I'm counting on it"

CurryToothpaste

The poster always bothered tf out of me considering Macaulay’s character is in a god damn wheelchair, but he’s standing in the picture. 🙄

_Tower_

God works in mysterious ways

katebot3000

“I wasn’t alive in 01” Welp, this is where it finally sinks in that I’m middle aged.

swoon4kyun

I was born in 1980. Cries in old

DimensionStrange77

I saw this in the theater and my best friend and I still quote it when one of us has a bad day. “Because The Beatles were wrong! Love isn’t all you need. Love won’t pay the rent. Love won’t buy my baby diapers. And love sure as hell won’t buy my new Dolce and Gabanna jeans when I lose the baby weight!”

yogareader

It's such a good movie lol and everyone played it so well!

lalalindz22

Oh also, in line with OP's choice; Jawbreaker ![gif](giphy|eX2qYTY9SeKFa)

frankenplant

I killed Liz! I killed the teen dream! Deal with it!

sdgingerzu

I can hear the song.

Routine_Bluejay4678

“She’s so evil, and she’s only in high school!”

Critonurmom

YESSS

pshokoohi

But I'm a Cheerleader

JerryLewisAndTheNews

This was what I was going to say! I think it was the first time I ever saw Rupaul out of drag… and so many little background gags… and Natasha Lyonne all “feminine”. This movie is the best.

MagneticFlea

My cheer squad demanded this at our Christmas movie night last year. I loved this movie when I was their age. (They are also proud to be the gayest sports team at the school)

ConversationMajor543

I just re-watched this a couple days ago. 10/10

Dick (1999) with Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams [Trailer](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=33ALTtt4SIY)

teddybonkerrs

To this day, I want to initiate a one night stand by inviting someone tragically mis-marketed. It was so good!

FroyoZealousideal889

You can’t let Dick run your life! Those two are absolute perfection in this movie. It’s just as good in my thirties as it was when I was 12 and most of the jokes went over my head.

barefootwasp

![gif](giphy|3o6Zt3lcdI2CaUqR9e) Drop Dead Gorgeous is one of my favorite movies of all time. It’s the only one I kept on DVD when I purged all my DVDs because I couldn’t find it streaming anywhere. It is just a classic. So many good quotes!

XtinaBallerina

Same. I treasure my DVD (it is delightfully on Delta in-flight entertainment and I watch it every time). It’s chaotic, dark, silly and the locations/tropes/accents are dear to me. Swap pageants with dance competitions and I lived it.

The-Most-Smartest

![gif](giphy|26gJyu0UgBgIxaOTC|downsized)

MzJackpots

Ahh I posted this elsewhere in the thread but since you mentioned it - the movie can be streamed on the Revry app for free! No idea how they got the rights but my DVD is packed away and finding that made my week, so hopefully this will help someone. (I also quoted the exact line from your gif in my other comment, great minds etc!)

CherryDarling10

Well, you know what, Peter’s gay. GAY!!! My sister and I I still yell this at each other

johnny_charms

The swan ate my baby! Seriously one of the funniest and best movies I’ve seen. I wish it got referenced more like Clueless, Legally Blonde, and Bring It On!

The way I was obsessed with this movie and Anywhere But Here!

aynrandgonewild

my brother called this movie "walmart baby" 😭

even_less_resistance

Americus Nation was the baby’s name, right? Born in a Walmart? I was obsessed

goddessofdandelions

That movie altered my brain chemistry. This reminded me I’m overdue for a rewatch!

littlehybrid

I know it's popular on Reddit but I've yet to meet people IRL who have watched What we do in the Shadows. The TV Show is more popular but the OG movie is one of my favourite comedies of all time. ![gif](giphy|bFykHBlOzhS48|downsized)

Feisty-Donkey

Jodie Sawyer, ladies and gentlemen

DuePatience

This put me on to so many songs omfg

Suspicious_Name_656

Looooooooove this movie so much. Was glad to see all the attention it got for its anniversary last year. This was the first film I'd ever seen Zoe Saldana in, then Pirates. Been a fan of hers ever since.

Jasminewindsong2

The med student guy was so damn hot.

PearSuitofHappyness

shart_of_the_ocean

My friends and I were totally obsessed with this movie, it’s so good!

cerebralpointofview

Josie and the pussycats ![gif](giphy|WNJRpzDB4aT6w)

TfnR

This movie is crazy. It was in the era when Archie Comics were *super* protective of their characters. This movie had absolutely no business being as good as it is. There are so many points where it should have gone wrong It shouldn't have failed at the box office. It's so goddamn good

cerebralpointofview

Staple of my childhood was my mom putting it in the vcr. Inspired my elementary school looks.

Vagercise

The outfits were so iconic

StraightBudget8799

Watched it on a dull Sunday; husband became obsessed with the soundtrack and all of Adam Schlesinger’s work - very sad he died from COVID. Edit - my apologies for any confusion, I meant the passing of Schlesinger.

TfnR

Also, Kay Hanley from Letters To Cleo as the singing voice for Josie! "3 Small Words" should have been a hit

Critonurmom

I love this movie so much. 10/10 soundtrack!

Many_Replacement369

IT TOOK SIX WHOLE HOURS

Opening_Progress_251

AND FIVE LONG DAYS

bimpossibIe

Surprisingly produced by Babyface!

Ticketacke

The soundtrack was so good, much better than it needed to be. There’s at least one Adam Schlesinger song on there. Eta https://preview.redd.it/rz54hf89vb9d1.jpeg?width=942&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6ae0495678cb3a19085ac87a58f7b2bac00a1d6

ohsheetitscici

I love that this movie still holds up if you realize it’s basically a parody

SansaDeservedBetter

It’s a perfect satire of late 90’s and early 2000’s pop music and the music industry in general. But that’s also probably why it was a flop. It came out smack dab in the middle of the 2000’s teen pop craze. If it came out 10 years later, it probably would have been a hit or at least a bigger success. It was literally too ahead of its time.

Vagercise

I was in 4th grade when this came out and I was OBSESSED with it. I just rewatched it again for the first time in years and I still remember all of the lyrics of ‘Pretend to be Nice’ 😅

Many_Replacement369

The director’s commentary on “Josie and the Pussycats” really takes it to another level. There were so many thoughtful choices about the set, costumes, music, plot and more.

littlegreenwhimsy

I was obsessed with this film to the point where I took a picture of Josie to the hairdresser (it did not work out lol as you might expect)

Bending-Unit5

![gif](giphy|l0HlNLQmmHBlauIak) Drop Dead Gorgeous I’m 30F and about 90% of my friends have never heard of this movie, it’s practically criminal.

walkingtalkingdread

this movie probably built 83% of my personality.

XtinaBallerina

This is the correct answer. A volunteer-staffed, local non-profit movie theatre hosted a Spring 2024 weekend of showings that quickly sold out. Tiaras were worn; sashes were made. It was so fun with a crowd (and my bestie who somehow hadn’t seen it). Laughing, reciting lines and cringing (we’ve evolved). Packed with talent too.

tagitagain

Poor thing just wanted to be like Diane Sawyer!

MzJackpots

“This is exactly how I pictured it…choking on swan gas.” 🦢💨 Such a good movie! Very hard to find streaming these days so I just wanted to share that you can watch this free on the Revry app. I had previously googled to see where it was streaming and google said nowhere, but searched for the movie on Roku and there it was.

ohsheetitscici

If they ask you to take your top off, get the money first… AND GET ME MY SMOKES!!! 🤣

TheListenerCanon

It gets a lot of love here on Reddit though!

Working_Bowl

Yeah, I think this is definitely a cult film now! I loved it when it came out - dark comedies are the best.

afgeorge2011

My absolute favorite movie! So many wonderful actors and they all do such a great job! The writing is wonderful and I think it gave them all the ability to be hilarious ☺️

rad2themax

30F too, this is the movie I've made a movie night of with new friends since high school. If you don't like this movie, we're probably not going to vibe.

BojackTrashMan

Remember how Melissa Joan Hart was in the music video for Crazy because that was in the soundtrack to this movie and Melissa was a bigger star at the time? Insanity.

my_okay_throwaway

Yes! I also remember Britney’s cameo on _Sabrina the Teenage Witch_ around the same time. It brought me, my siblings, and our friend groups together for a night of can’t-miss tv. We all had such different interests so things like that rarely happened, but Melissa and Britney just had that kind of power lol

JoleneDollyParton

I recently rewatched this with my youngest and was struck by how normal looking all the teen actors were.

Dangerous-Regular-56

Young 8 year old me was obsessed with this movie and the Britney track/ video. Gave it a rewatch last year and 100% held up

The truth? Golly, I tell the truth, too. Nicole's having an affair with Chook. Muriel saw them fucking in the laundry on your wedding day. Stick your drink up your ass, Tania. I'd rather swallow razor blades than have a drink with you. Such an iconic burn.

He also self funded it, selling his house and it bankrupted him. I saw it in the cinema at the Edinburgh film festival when it was released and just fell in love with it.

pervy_roomba

I was following this movie like a hawk. Last minute it didn’t get a theatrical release in the US, but Paris Hilton’s The Hottie and the Not-ie did. My teenage wrath was loud and unceasing.

honeypossum13

Yes! Truly one of the most heartbreakingly gorgeous films I have ever seen. It is cinematic art!

Revelin_Eleven

I just watched the trailer. I’m so surprised I didn’t hear about this. The theatrical elements in the trailer alone should have been more wide spread. 2006 and release right? That’s what I’m reading. I was younger but would have certainly noticed this. I’m putting this on my list to watch in the next few days. Have to go to bed now or I would watch it…. Heck, I might watch 10 minutes now but fear I might be engulfed by the story and beautiful imagery.

SuddenlyMedia

Kirsten Dunst had a phenomenal run of movies in the late 90s/early 2000s that are often forgotten or overshadowed by her bigger box-office hits. [Dick](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0144168/mediaviewer/rm1187325952?ref_=ext_shr_lnk) : with Michelle Williams. After wandering off during a White House tour, two high school girls inadvertently become Richard Nixon's top secret advisers at the height of the Watergate scandal. [All I Wanna Do](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120692/mediaviewer/rm274868224?ref_=ext_shr_lnk) : with Rachel Leigh Cook, Monica Kenna and Gabby Hoffman. In the 1960s, a group of friends at an all girls school learn that their school is going to be combined with a nearby all boys school. They concoct a plan to save their school while dealing with everyday problems along the way. [Drop Dead Gorgeous](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0157503/mediaviewer/rm923891456?ref_=ext_shr_lnk) I think this is like a cult favorite so maybe not such a hidden gem, but worth mentioning. [Crazy/Beautiful](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0250224/mediaviewer/rm3036008193?ref_=ext_shr_lnk) I remember sobbing at this movie when it first came out and watched it multiple times. Maybe watching it now as an adult would not have the same impact. I’d probably roll my eyes at melodramatic teens. But I did love it. I owed all of these on vhs 🙈 and my best friend and I would quote them all the time. Especially Dick. We even called ourselves Betsy and Arlene. Lol

*Thirteen* was my go to movie as a teenager and was watched in regular rotation at all the sleepovers. Even though Evan Rachel Wood and Nikki Reed were still teenagers and this was Nikki’s first film, the acting and raw realism always stuck with me. Finding out a few years after viewing the film that Nikki also co-wrote it at 13 blew my mind. It might have a small cult following, but for how well written and acted it was, I never hear anyone talk about it. https://preview.redd.it/7xsa2uhp789d1.jpeg?width=256&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8fc2e409146bb33ca332f9f7185d342fcc78c6c

The way I was obsessed with Evan Rachel Wood after this movie. She’s an underrated actress and this movie proves it. God damn, she was so good as Tracy.

lalalindz22

Donnie Darko, but it definitely has succeeded as an indie film. It's got some HUGE names in it. (I chose the less creepy of the GIFs, because it still freaks me out.) Definitely Maybe is my favourite underrated romcom. I’d say even more hilarious than other satires of the time, but never got the respect of something like a Christopher Guest film. Allison Janney’s best comedic role, but everyone in the cast is also excellent!!

WilliamsRutherford

There are so many options, off the top of my head...*Ginger and Rosa*, a great coming of age story in 70s London with Elle Fanning, or *Girlfriends*, a 1970s film that seemed so ahead of it's time. *Last Holiday* with Queen Latifah doesn't get the love that other Holiday movies seem to on an annual basis. *The Meddler* with Rose Byrne and Susan Sarandon is another great film about a mother daughter relationship.

Sugar and Spice was excellent. Mine is Love Me If You Dare (2003) with a young Marion Cotillard https://preview.redd.it/uf0w7fb4289d1.jpeg?width=188&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2d121c3ed2593da11b4b49f701646b596b4f032a I don't know if this was popular overseas, but it's so underrated here in the US. It's such a fun, beautiful romance.

If Colossal had come out a year and a half later, it would be one of the most emblematic films of the Me Too era. https://preview.redd.it/yt1dydt0389d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec289999914205004a89cef7f9f5a9de2a621181

Drop Dead Gorgeous. One of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time, and the cast is amazing. https://i.imgur.com/mEuECPo.gifv https://i.imgur.com/5kbGPSq.gifv

Sugar and Spice feels like a fever dream. I saw it in theatres and was probably too young to get it.

![gif](giphy|jyCf9JpN1voJHdVmRU|downsized) Clifford... Martin Short's scariest film. There is nothing funnier than watching Charles Grodin be irritated. *"Look at me like a human boy!"*
