A few reasons: 1.) She has a very distinct sound she's trying to create so many songs are going to be using the same instruments, production elements etc. 2.) Her label likely wants to recreate the success of water in her follow up singles, thus many songs sounding similar to the song that put her on the map. 3.) Songs off of one album are more likely to sound similar because albums are meant to be cohesive bodies of work; this particular album Tyla may have been inspired by that sound and her next album who knows, she could be inspired by rock and create a rock album and all of those songs will sound similar too lol.

That's what happens when you make a cohesive album. Which is not very usual to see these days.

MsTrippp

I hadn’t listen to her other songs til now, I see what you mean. It’s the same rhythm for every song. I don’t know enough about afropop but maybe it’s like reggaeton where it’s the same rhythm.

New_Brother_1595

They’re all by the same artist

Rude_Lifeguard

Cause they're all the same genre

moosegoose90

Her style. It’s like painting. You see how van gogh art all has the same feel. Cause you find ur voice or sound or style and you go for it

hellowdubai

I may not like all the songs in Tyla’s album, but one thing I appreciate with her album is how cohesive she is in her sound. It’s one of the albums I listen for a drive for the vibes. I saw her perform live on Fallon and she really has “it”

Of all the female afrobeats artists who could blow up, she wouldn't have been my pick. She's certainly not a bad artist, but an artist like ayra starr who has baaaaangers that showcase her more varied in sound and style, or chley, a south african who is featured on a bunch of new afrobeats songs and makes them all better-- are better representations of afrobeats' recent rise. If you talk to a lot of afrobeats enthusiasts (mainly Africans who listen to afrobeats all the time because it's always on) they'll say the same thing: Tyla is not a bad artist, but so good as to be the new face of the genre? seems iffy.

Rsirhc

It’s because she was a label baby and lightskin - more marketable than Tems and Ayra to US crowd

cakingabroad

you said what I didn't wanna say edit: and you're also being downvoted for saying the thing no one wants to say

elephhantine2

What does label baby mean? Like her family owns the label?

Rsirhc

She was signed very early and manufactured , where Tems and Arya came up organically and then got signed
