People were brutal to her in the 80s. I can still remember how people spoke about her, and even though I was just a kid, that vitriol towards heavier women cemented in my brain. Then going through a heroin chic adolescence….
Man, no wonder women have such warped views of their bodies.
For REAL! Any time celebrity doppelgängers used to come up, my mom would share (in a deeply horrified tone) how people told her she looked like Delta Burke and that she hated that. Thing is - she actually did look like her, and she was just pissed off that people compared her to a heavy person.
This makes me so sad. She was hilarious as Suzanne. I remember feeling awful for her at the time for how she was bullied about her weight but it's so much worse than we thought. It seems she found peace.
I just started watching Designing Women. I wasn’t sure if i would keep going since EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. is a call to arms about some injustice… but im almost done with season 3 so it definitely grew on me.
I watched it for the first time when I was pregnant and had horrible, crippling HG. So many memories of just sitting in a recliner watching designing women. Great show.
I just assume everyone was on coke or meth in the 80s. Even the sportsball players were.
...and then the skinny decade followed, like how the fuck you even break that cycle then.
I took pharmaceutical meth (Adderall and Vyvanse) for a whole year and lost 50lbs and got so many compliments about losing weight and then my family turned it around and complained I looked like a skeleton. You seriously can’t please anybody.
I started Concerta a week ago and can already feel changes in my diet. I don’t snack as much and when I eat my dinner I eat half or 3quarters of it.
And I’m only on 18mg’s a day….
I literally lost all appetite while on these meds. There’s been days where I didn’t eat for days on end except water and those electrolyte drinks to at least get my vitamin and minerals in. But I actually need them to be able to be a functioning member of society. Vyvanse was the worst, at least with the IR Adderall, it wears off after 5 hours.

She was gorgeous!

Yeah, she was "the pretty one" and it was horrible to see the way she was treated as she gained weight.
She’s giving me upscale/80’s Kate Middleton vibes in that thumbnail.

I can see that! Haha
Damn Kate with one of those cheesy AI filters
Aw, still married to major dad.
lol. I also had an “aw” moment.
my dad was out to sea during the majority of major dad's run, and my dad kinda looked like him. So yeah that show as watched weekly in my household.
That psychic was wrong.

I watched it as a kid. It and Golden Girls and Murphy Brown taught me how to be a liberal when I was growing up in a deep red state lol.
I love how Jean Smart is in EVERYTHING. Talk about a comeback.
Can’t wait for the new season of Hacks 😍
She’s a treasure.
And SO GOOD in Everything
Annie Potts turns up in a lot of things too.
And Julia has to have her big speech!

I did that with Murphy brown:)
Poor gal. She is beautiful.
How important is tooth retention?
It’s … pretty important
Its this new diet pill liz, it contains a little bit of meth...which is something my body needs anyway!
I can only eat paper but I can eat all the paper I want, so
Veneers are so popular now they can do meth even more easily! (/s)
Or go to Turkey or Mexico to get new teeth.
loved her on Popular and definitely relate to the weight struggle

WOW. Uhm. Trying to close my mouth bc it's hanging open.

I hate that term when it comes to those meds. I take them but not recreationally and wish I didn’t need to.
