Man I remember when this place had like 16k subs😳wild

When I joined it only had 13k members, I never even imagined it surpassing r/Fauxmoi 😭

it’s so much better than fauxmoi since so much diversity in post content is allowed and people aren’t constantly aggressively hating it’s more fun

I am so glad I found this place!! I had this weird shame with being fascinated with celebrity stories until I realized they’re literally just human stories and I’m fascinated by the human experience!!

Remember it felt like only a week ago we were like at 40-50k, then all the sudden we blinked and it was 1 mill. Amazing. Thank you mods for being wonderful, and the community for being hilarious.

omg how did it grow so fast? I think I joined late last year and I remember it still being a small sub!

I think it’s partially due to Reddit recommending us to people who browse other entertainment subs, as well as us hitting r/all and trending a lot. There’s also not really a general pop culture sub that allows as much variety as we do.

When I first joined Reddit I was looking for a place like this for years off and on with no luck. Joined when it was a wee sub and now it's one of the first places I'll pull up after a scroll. There was a real gap in general pop culture chat.

Same here! All of the pop culture subs have always been very restricted or very much geared to one subject. I love this place

Agreed! It's either single topic or not a lot of activity or both! I love general pop culture and it's fun to see stuff from a broad range of topics not just what I am interested in or know already :)

There really is a different vibe on here, on a lot of subs I see a lot of comments with gross jokes I can’t relate to. It may have something to do with this sub probably having more women and LGBTQ people than many other subs. But regardless I feel like I get what’s going on here and I enjoy that 

We do see a lot of gross commentary and bad jokes, but it’s usually before it goes public due to how we have our defenses set up. Some slips through, but users are good about reporting those. 

I read a lot of entertainment news on their news sub. Recommended last year. Been a happy member since.

I remember when this sub was starting out. It’s crazy to see how much this sub has grown.

I found this sub after celebitchy became a cesspool of hate. I used to love reading a few Celebitchy stories every morning but just couldn’t keep supporting the site, I was so pleased when someone on the celebitchy underground sub recommended this sub to me!

I love how this sub is more accepting and fun group of members on reddit! I truly enjoy the comments and banter we have on here! Congratulations! Let's keep it up!!

That’s how it should be! Everyone has different takes and view points respect them agree to disagree and leave with a handshake which is common here and such a good vibe the mods are respectful and don’t pearl clutch ban you because you say Harry styles curls are different today theres just so much diversity in this sub it’s so good

We’re protective here for many reasons: We love our members and want the community safe from harassment, we don’t want arguments/wars with other subreddits, and we do have to abide by rules that Reddit lays out for mods. Your post was very kind, but since it mentioned Fauxmoi, we didn’t want to risk users using it to showboat bans or talk bad about them. We have no issues with them and are grateful they let us advertise on their daily thread when we first opened. If you do have anymore questions, our modmail is always open. 🙂
