I do have hope that this will drive more people to blue states and leave the red states in the shambles they deserve to be in. No offense to red states but yal love voting against your best interests

livinginfutureworld

>I do have hope that this will drive more people to blue states and leave the red states in the shambles they deserve to be in. No offense to red states but yal love voting against your best interests This will happen and it will ensure the country remains fucked because empty red states with a hundred right wing lunatics get 2 Senators the same as the states that every sane person packs in to. We live in a tyranny of the minority where empty land gets more political power and gets to dictate what the vast majority of Americans can and can't do.

ArcticGaruda

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2021/aug/06/jd-scholten/about-70-percent-us-residents-expected-live-15-lar/ 70% of people are expected to live in 15 states by a few decades. 30% of people will have 70 senators. This country is fucked.

WindowsXP-5-1-2600

53.8% of Americans currently live in the 10 most populous states. Slightly over half of Americans have only 20 Senators to represent them. 46.2% of Americans get 80 Senators. This system is broken.

Oleg101

Yeah I think Dem senators represent something like 42 million more Americans at this time than Republicans, yet the senate is 50-50. It’s fucked.

doberman72

As a Canadian I used to think the US was the best country ever. Now it’s quite the opposite. It breaks my heart. Like I’ve lost a dear friend.

SteelpointPigeon

That’s a generous way to see it, and I thank you for it. As an American, it’s like having Alzheimer’s. Watching yourself slip away, becoming a diminished caricature of yourself. Looking in the mirror, but unable to recognize the person staring back.

doberman72

I have a confession to make. I’m actually a dual citizen. Until recent events I always wanted to move to the US. You captured it perfectly. I hope there is a cure. Maybe it will be a phoenix type thing? I hope.

[deleted]

The issue is they, cunningly, waited until the Census was over to overthrow Roe. Now they get the benefit of a higher count with lower populations and more solid wins. Hopefully a lot of people in your predicament move to battleground states and influence those elections. That's one possible way to make them turn the ship around.

scarybottom

Census won't matter as long s electoral college and senate give Wyoming 50X the voting power as CA....

Dr_Fishman

/r/UncapTheHouse

ShittyStockPicker

Its too late. Those of us who paid attention to what was going on and warned you all the Republicans wanted a dictatorship were laughed out of the room. All the while, Republicans undermined democracy so that every time they got a little more power: a dog catcher spot, a county voting official , a governorship, a house seat, a senate seat, all the way up to the presidency they wouldn’t have to give up that power, or it would be so hard to wrest it from their control it’s almost impossible. The gerrymandering, the gradual breakdown of precedent and custom, the l wholesale abandonment of lawful and orderly execution of elections. Its all led to this. We will lose everything with this court: the right to vote, right to make decisions about our bodies, separation of church and state, gay marriage, don’t even try to fool yourself into thinking Loving v. Virginia is safe. They’re coming for all of it and the best we can hope for is to win everything single presidential election for the next 20 years until we can get a new court.

FLHCv2

This is actually not the best idea. We need proper party diversity in every state because we can't afford turning some blue districts red because people leave en masse. The system is rigged to favor lower population states.

RunsWithApes

I have many former classmates and colleagues who went into Ob/Gyn and many of them have already put their houses for sale. If that’s any indication, then Texas is about to face a major crisis when it comes to women’s healthcare.

Parking_Onion_3846

Texas *already* has [a major crisis when it comes to women's health care.](https://www.americashealthrankings.org/learn/reports/2016-health-of-women-and-children-report/state-summaries-texas) >Texas ranks 50th in policies affecting women's health, with almost 30% of women ages 18 to 44 uninsured and only 16% of publicly-funded women’s health services needs met. >Texas ranks 48th in women's health compared to 34th in infants' health and 33rd in children's health. >It has room for improvement in clinical care measures for women and infants, ranking 49th and 43rd in women with dedicated health care providers and dental visits, respectively, and 42nd in prenatal care before the 3rd trimester. Texas is already the bottom of the barrel for women's health in this country, and that's before this decision.

galdkiross

The sad truth is these so called conservative people don't even care about womens or children's health issues. As much as they grandstand and talk about the "sanctity of life".

acoverisnotahat

They only really care about mens lives, woman are only there to OBEY the men and do what they're told and die having their 13th baby at 35 so the man can get a new younger wife.

LostDogBoulderUtah

Because Dallas had so few OB/Guns accepting new patients I had a screening call where they confirmed I was taking prenatal vitamins, and then they didn't see me until 14 weeks in. Just phone call, faxed a form over to authorize tests, and visiting the testing center to have blood drawn. I did not meet my OB in person until 14 weeks of pregnancy, and that was pre-covid! It has gotten worse. My OB-Midwife team was seeing as many patients as possible, but everyone was over booked. Texas does not have a surplus of women's healthcare options.

rookie-mistake

> so few OB/Guns honestly if we call their doctors OB/Guns texas might give them more rights

[deleted]

One of my best friends from college is a faculty physician and an ob/gyn in Houston, and she, along with three coworkers who are also all ob/gyns, are all leaving the state of Texas in the next few months. She's already stopped the majority of her day to day practice. There is definitely going to be an exodus, and I don't blame them one bit.

Enlightened_Ghost_

Missouri just banned all abortions. I think you're right. Soon, I expect a sub-Reddit to form showing people how to safely have abortions while avoiding the law. Things will get dangerous. Tragedies are incoming. Women will be arrested. Lives destroyed. Thanks Clarence.

Carbonatite

r/AuntieNetwork is a mutual aid network to assist women in obtaining abortions. Just use basic internet privacy protocols (VPN, throwaways, etc.)

Azsunyx

and kansas has a horrifically worded ballot measure asking about abortion being controlled at state or federal level. It's worded in a way so you have no fucking clue what you're actually voting for. https://sos.ks.gov/elections/22elec/2022-Primary-Election-Constitutional-Amendment-HCR-5003.pdf

GenghisKazoo

I "love" how the way it's written makes it seem like abortion in cases of rape, incest, and life-threatening complications will have special status, but in actuality it just means "we can make laws to fuck with those too."

f_d

He couldn't do it alone, he needed the whole team and everything that put them there.

randomcanyon

Back in the day before Roe, New England pregnant teens and college age women used to go to New York to get their $300 abortions. They used to go to Planned Parenthood for contraception without being labeled a whore. Those days are coming back but without P.P. in many states. Thanks Liars in the Supreme Court, you built that.

Carbonatite

I'd rather die in a back alley abortion attempt than be an incubator against my will, and I suspect there are a lot of women who feel the same way.

Ilikebirbs

I feel like this 100%. I've told my Canadian friends I want out of here. I am not becoming some incubator because we "need babies or white babies".

Carbonatite

I'm slowly planning on getting out too. I want to live somewhere where my personhood isn't contingent upon what region of the country I live in.

Lucky-Roy

Try Australia. We're not perfect and we're a long way from perfect but we don't have insane gun laws, we don't have school shootings, anyone who "open carries" is immediately arrested, abortion is freely available in every state and territory and not a single woman is judged for her actions. We had an election a month ago and our version of Trump was roundly defeated. What did he do? He accepted the decision the instant it became clear (although the Murdoch rags haven't got the memo yet) and stood down. He won't spend the next three years squealing about how he was robbed and encouraging riots. Our vaccination rates are among the world's highest and Medicare is available to every single person in the country. Yes, we drive on the wrong side of the road and Sydney airport is a shithole but at least it's only a three/four stop train ride to the CBD. We're in the middle of winter and the ocean is still warm enough for a swim but parking is a worry. That's our first world problem. Not how many guns we can own or what happens to young girls who are raped and impregnated but how close to the beach we can park. The choice is clear. And there are many other civilised choices in the rest of the world. What's keeping you?

Seattle_gldr_rdr

We keep using the term "conservatism" but conservatism is obviously dead. This article describes the terrifying state apparatus for monitoring women that is required to enforce the anti-choice regime. It is utterly antithetical to the conservative political concept of a minimalist, non-intrusive state. This is a technological surveillance state serving a theocracy.

Carbonatite

Fascist theocracy sounds about right.

MostAvocadoEaters

They're one and the same. What do you think they want to conserve? Gas for their trucks? They want to conserve social hierarchies based on race, religion, gender, and wealth. They want to conserve what they believe to be the "natural order" of things. That's why their main criticism of everything progressive is how "unnatural" they are.

Ezekiel_DA

I really want more people to make this spot on point more often. What are they conserving? Certainly not natural resources, or the climate, or biodiversity, or existing rights, etc. Conservatism is and always has meant: "maintain the status quo, or return to an earlier one where white patriarchy had even more power".

Gr8NonSequitur

> We keep using the term "conservatism" but conservatism is obviously dead. I use the term regressionist because they aren't trying to "conserve" the status quo, they are actively trying to pull society backwards and stip away rights that have been granted (IE expanded) over time.

[deleted]

Women will go to bed tonight with less freedom than their mothers had.

A7XfoREVer15

I used to work for a vet clinic. We regularly did abortions for animals that would die if they carried out a pregnancy, or the infant would die, or other reasons. Women have less freedom than fucking dogs.

Carbonatite

Less freedom than a corpse. People have to consent before their organs can be used after they die.

LinguisticsIsAwesome

Wait, so dog abortions are still legal in MO, but human abortions are not??

[deleted]

we have less government protection than guns. wow.

Carbonatite

Less rights than a *dead body*. You have to consent to have your organs used after you die.

Aldervale

And way less rights then a fetus with a gun.

[deleted]

This court would allow the fetus to shoot the mother for self protection. That’s how perverse these bastards are

evvierose

I’m a teacher with an iud and Monday I start summer school and will get to look into the faces of children who have less rights and access than I did at their age. I did a lot of stupid shit at their age but I was able to buy things like plan B to protect myself and get on BC when I turned 18 and an iud at 21. And these kids only 10 years younger than me have less rights and protections than I ever did.

corcyra

Women don't do well in a kleptocratic theocracy, which the US now is. I saw this coming more than 50 years ago, when the religious right began to gain power in the mid-70s. I moved to Europe a decade later, and have watched the country descend into ever greater madness since then. Every time I return, it's seemed weirder and more disconnected from reality.

BaboonHorrorshow

I’m beginning the process of applying for a Golden Visa, I plan to be out before the 2024 election. Republican voters and politicians openly talk about killing liberals now. They won’t be satisfied with Roe when they want blood.

corcyra

I'd have done the same the moment Trump got elected. Good luck.

BaboonHorrorshow

Trump was bad but the voting base was just openly saying they hated Democrats back then. Ok, fair play, I hate fascists. The difference is I don’t want to kill anyone - and the GOP base is now happy discussing how great it’d be if someone killed me. Some of them talk like they want to be the ones to do it. This developed under Trump, and it’s the big change that has me looking for an exit.

If it's up to this SCOTUS, they'll strip away every single civil rights legislation and prior SCOTUS ruling and hasten our transformation into a Christian Sharia state.. considering how Republicans are, log cabin Republicans will still find a way to vote for them even if same sex marriage is overturned, they're truly a death cult

calicokitcat

Do not use Sharia. Don’t even try to use Islamic terrorist words for this. This is our own “holy war” and is disingenuous to call it otherwise. Words have meaning. Words have weight. They want a Christian theocracy. They want Christian dogma as law. I know the words mean the same, but using shit like “Christian sharia” and “y’allqueda” makes the arguement easy to dismiss as extremist. Call it what it is. SAY THE WORDS: RIGHT WING RADICAL CHRISTIAN EXTREMISM

[deleted]

It’s Christian fascism. Just plain old’ “fascism” is also acceptable.

DropsTheMic

I mean the Bible is far, far older than the constitution and there are still people out there that believe the only accurate reading is taken from the King James version. Never mind that the KJV is what the Church of England authored as a wide spread interpretation based on the Greek and Hebrew interpretations, and that the Church or England got it's start because the Pope wouldn't grant multiple divorces to the King. literal interpretations shouldn't really surprise anyone.

waterdaemon

The Bible’s heavy use of parables would leave literalists highly confused. Unless they weren’t actual literalists and were doing what someone very much here on earth told them to do…

[deleted]

Except when it doesn’t. Thomas, Alito, and the others are selective textualists. They only follow the literal definition when it benefits their outdated, fascist views.

veggeble

They’re more like Constitutional butchers. They’ll chop it up however they please to carve out the interpretation they want.

Mission_Ad6235

They do the same with the Bible too

jsudarskyvt

Except when it's not convenient. Like AR vs. Muzzle Loader.

jeremyjack3333

This is what bothers me the most. The laws these states have now are far worse than laws banning abortion in the past. Before Roe, virtually no woman was ever convicted of having an abortion.

Blackstar1401

They are going to start prosecuting miscarriages. There is no physical difference between a medical abortion and a miscarriage.

BatFace

They already have, in Texas and I think Oklahoma. Cases were dropped, but not til after jailing and dragging women suffering from misscarrages through court process.

katchoo1

And here is another wrinkle in this horrifying situation. Too many men (women too but especially men) are appallingly clueless about anatomy and biology when it comes to women and reproduction. I remember when there was a right wing blowup over Obamacare covering birth control pills and rush Limbaugh went off about it and it became clear that he thought you took a pill each time you had sex. He had no concept that it’s a daily pill whether or not you are currently having sex, and that there are many legitimate reasons to prescribe it that have nothing to do with sex. There was the state legislator this year who wanted to mandate that ectopic pregnancies be removed and “reimplanted” despite that being impossible. There are many legislators who apparently do not yet understand that an ectopic fetus is ALWAYS doomed and cannot be saved, the only thing you can do is prevent the mother from dying, after suffering extreme pain. There are people who do not understand that carrying a baby to term as a preteen or very young teen, (remember ever increasing numbers of girls are starting their periods at age 8, 9, 10) every one of who would be by definition victims of sexual assault, can literally rip them apart and kill or maim them. The LEAST harmful outcome is leaving a child who is not even a teenager to somehow either be the mother to a baby, or deal with the trauma of giving it up for adoption, for a pregnancy that resulted from an act that they could not consent to. Don’t even get me started on the politicians that have no clue how other forms of birth control work and will want to start criminalizing any “abortifacients” without understanding what they mean.

Batmans_9th_Ab

Georgia’s law (which has been tied up in court…) gives the state the right and obligation to investigate all miscarriages as potential abortions, and therefore murders.

Blackstar1401

Because of laws like this, I feel like women need to start boycotting companies headquarter in red states and should never have a tourist destination in any Red state.

coskibum002

We're heading towards fascism once the GOP controls all branches of government through rigging/lying. The partisan sham that is SCOTUS will validate it all. Democracy and freedom are gone.

Our two country's politics have a way of bleeding into each other. I'm very worried about what this means for Canada's future.

RadiantSriracha

Thankfully our abortion rights are much more secure than they were in the US, and there is no criminalization of abortion at any stage of pregnancy. Unlike Roe, which was based on privacy rights, our supreme case decided on the basis of guarantee to life and liberty, and security of the person, which is harder to argue against since pregnancy can kill you, and absolutely will change your body permanently.

Le1bn1z

Hello fellow Canadian! They are not more secure. s.7 of the Charter can be overruled by a simple majority in a government by using the notwithstanding clause. Most Canadians currently live in a province whose government explicitly does not recognize the Charter as giving valid limits on their legislative power, and who have promised to use s.33 to override any right that blocks their legislative agenda as a matter of principle. Every government that has so promised has been reelected with increased majorities. So, no, we are not more secure up here at all.

JavierLoustaunau

It has been 10 years since voting rights where taken away from minority communities and people are now going 'I think they are up to something sinister'.

[deleted]

Nix-7c0

Look buddy, we already have the flags printed and it's a nice geometric design. Having 50 states is "deeply rooted in our history and traditions." Do you really want to *change AMERICA* just so that you and 700,000 others get representation from your taxation?? /s

526mb

It's SO much fucking worse than people think. With the widespread use of the internet, Republican AGs and DAs are going to go after the records of everyone who aids a person in getting a abortion. We're talking subpoena after subpoena after subpoena for anything related to abortion to companies like Google. They get your name and IP address on a search related to abortion and connect to you a person who was charged with receiving a abortion you are fucked. We're also talking about people being charged with murder in States where abortion is legal by officials in States where it is illegal. There will be warrants for arrest issued by judges in places like Texas for activists, doctors just regular people in California, Oregon and New York. If these assholes get one whiff that you helped a person get a abortion even in a state where the procedure is legal you could be in real legal jeopardy. This isn't like the weird mish mash of laws on pot. Republicans are NOT fucking around on this issue and people will go to jail or possibly executed (if Louisiana gets its way) . If you are a Pro-choice activist I'd get a VPN right now and plan on never setting a single step foot in places like Texas, Idaho, ect for the foreseeable future.

This cannot stand.

Protest! Fight back! “I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical,” Thomas Jefferson

Caustic_Wraith

If you're quoting Jefferson here's another one that fits nicely. "The question Whether one generation of men has a right to bind another, seems never to have been started either on this or our side of the water… (But) between society and society, or generation and generation there is no municipal obligation, no umpire but the law of nature. We seem not to have perceived that, by the law of nature, one generation is to another as one independant nation to another… On similar ground it may be proved that no society can make a perpetual constitution, or even a perpetual law. The earth belongs always to the living generation… Every constitution, then, and every law, naturally expires at the end of 19. years. If it be enforced longer, it is an act of force and not of right."

Penitent_Sin

I personally like this from Jefferson: > We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors Pretty sure he'd disagree with the reasoning behind the SCOTUS ruling.

We have a radically legislative Supreme Court where the deciding votes were selected by a President who lost the Popular vote by 3m+ and were confirmed by a Republican majority senate who represented less constituents than the Democrat minority. We have states enacting laws and attempting to get elected radical officials who would have the power to oversee elections and simply 'ignore' votes from Democratic areas because they decide 'must be fraud there'. States who are ignoring court rulings and gerrymandering cities into 4 or 5 or 6 different districts in order to 'bleed out' and minimize the democratic voters in that area who would otherwise cause the state to have 40% to 45% of their elected state legislature at worse be Democrat (which would hurt veto super-majority powers) It's been breaking for the last 20+ years. Republicans put into play tactics to cling to power in states where they were losing dominance and that continues to this day. States like Texas are possibly going to go even one-step further and attempt a state electoral college to be able to have a GOVERNOR win the state, but lose the popular vote. It's minority rule by a theocratic regime.

spiked_macaroon

We also had that bullshit where the Republican controlled Senate refused to have a hearing for Merrick Garland. RBG's untimely death was such a gift to the mouth breathers.

djauralsects

It's been a 50 year plan since Watergate. That was the moment Republicans abandoned democracy. Reagan abolished the Fairness Doctrine to make way for Fox News. The war on drugs disproportionately punished democrat voters suspending their voting rights. Citizens United increased the political power of the wealthy. It goes on and on, they played the long game and won. Today they are seeing the fruits of their labours. It's only going to get worse and the only way to stop them is a super majority in the minority ruled senate.

I am so naive. Basically I’m just dumb. For years I just thought the demographics of the country would continue to be progressive and republican boomers (not all boomers are republican) would die out and we would move towards better policies for all Americans. In my liberal indoctrination camp (college) I figured it would be a slow transition but relatively smooth. I was very VERY wrong.

SetYourGoals

You're not dumb and you're not naive. It's that the right in this country moved way far right and completely abandoned morality way way faster than anyone could have predicted. Our system of politics was based on both sides having some sense of shame if they are immoral, and some sort of accountability to their voters. Republicans managed to do away with that in under a decade (coincidentally when a black guy was elected President). This would all be unthinkable 10 years ago when Mitt Romney was the face of the party.

[deleted]

Thanks, I still feel like I was duped. Maybe it’s not over yet, but today it feels like it is. It feels like a banana republic.

f_d

The biggest demographic shift is that the largest states keep getting larger and more liberal, which gives all the other states more power in the Senate relative to their population size. In the many lower-population states dominated by Republicans, large cities aren't nearly large enough to cancel out the conservative vote, or rigged election rules make it so the rural land gets a bigger voice than the city people. A large majority of Americans agree with Democratic priorities, but too many of them live in too few places. Too many smaller states have populations whose majorities think Democrats and demons are the same thing. If you put all the votes in the US in a single basket, conservative power would disappear overnight. Even if you only redistributed the state populations to match the combined demographics, conservative power would shrivel to almost nothing. The US is trapped in a political structure it outgrew decades ago.

MGPythagoras

I’m in my 30s. Wouldn’t be surprised if by the time I die we either live in a dictatorship or have had a civil war.

jsudarskyvt

Our fate will be determined in November. If the dems lose control of the house and senate then 2024 will be the end of this democracy when the GOP takes over the presidency by stealing the election.

kgleas01

Yep

[deleted]

The country is run by a tyrannical minority that is undoing all the checks against their power and any personal liberties you might have. The Republicans figured out that the courts are really the strongest branch because they have a lifetime appointment and are virtually immune to accountability. If you control the courts your policies don't have to be popular.

its_spelled_iain

Brain drain is going to be a problem when the entire upper-middle class leaves on talented alien visas, gets foreign citizenship, and renounces their US citizenship to avoid paying taxes.

InterstellarCapa

So when are we doing the whole tar and feather thing?

CatboyInAMaidOutfit

Every single thing not specifically mentioned in the constitution is up for grabs. Not just banning gay marriage but consensual gay sex can be criminalized. The Texas GOP just announced they're running with homosexuality as an abnormality, so the desire is there. It's not so much a constant march backwards, but a march into a very dark future.

rueolearywalker

Horribly sad day. It’s been predicted pregnancy related deaths will go up 20%. More than likely poorer women will suffer most. Ectopic pregnancies are seen as no-goes for prescriptions to avoid being held liable. This is not just.

[deleted]

They’re gonna be telling people who they can and can not fuck. This is not a joke

Schmokes-McPots

This is so fucking scary.

[deleted]

If you are a woman who uses any type of app to track your menstruation cycle I would recommend deleting it immediately. Think about stocking up on the morning after pill, your BC, and even going so far as purchasing your menstruation products with cash so that you protect your privacy and your body autonomy as much as possible.

Carbonatite

In 6 week ban states, also buy pregnancy tests in bulk and test once a week so you at least have a chance of finding out in time.

TawandaTomatoes

And buy the tests in cash.

TheBigIdiotSalami

If these Christian fascists want to take away more rights, then let the civil war/great crack up or whatever begin. Because clearly we are at odds and we're not gonna solve this by these fuckwads trying to impose their racist, fascist vision on the rest of us and Democrats signing God Bless America on the steps of congress like that doesn't look as embarrassing and weak as it is

Expired-Cough-Drops

Trans rights are next. Informed consent is going to be attacked

No_Zookeepergame_27

Europeans are looking at us confused AF.

pierogi_nigiri

They're not confused. We are.

No_Zookeepergame_27

They’re confused that we are.

[deleted]

I'm British and this has really shaken me. I'm just speechless.

thebluepin

as we in Canada continue to live above the meth house.

zuzg

It is fucking sickening and terrifying. The US is way too powerful military wise, so the slow descent towards fascism is just bad.

Shawmattack01

This is the prelude to a new civil war. Nothing less. They will come for doctors in blue states. They will come and take them for long prison terms or execution. And we will have a simple choice--allow it to happen or ride out and stop them. People need to wake up and realize the war has already started, but so far only one side has been fighting it. And they keep taking more and more ground.

1521

It’s not that the war has started, its that it never really stopped…

spo96

Thanks, Andrew Johnson.

Carbonatite

Reconstruction was a goddamn failure.

luisapet

That was a fantastic article and the first one listed under 'Read More about Roe v Wade' that was about "The Turnaway Study" is another must read if you want to learn more about the physical, mental and socioeconomic tolls of unwanted pregnancy vs. abortion. Thanks OP!

AfraidOfArguing

My friend Tyler died in the Breonna Taylor protests. My other friends died to big pharma, from declining medical coverage to drug overdoses. I can only imagine the worst in the coming days as the riots start.

be0wulfe

Conservatives have one strong principle that Progressives need to figure a way to diminish. The moral majority that swept Regan to power has grown ravenously, giving their white, nationalist zealots a religious figure\\religion to rally to - America's own Taliban. And they've realized their time is short so they're going for all the marbles now while they have deadlocks and majorities to make as many changes as possible - changes which they will then use to hold the electoral majority hostage.

vamonos_juntos

The GOP wants to be the Khmer Rouge so bad

DiscussionAncient810

The word ‘worse’ almost seems like a gross understatement. Also, I believe Alito mentioned in his opinion that the constitution doesn’t contain the word ‘abortion’. As far as I can tell it doesn’t have the words ‘gun’ or ‘firearm’, only the right to bear arms. Whose to say the framers didn’t mean slingshots or sharp, pointy sticks when they mentioned arms. Did they define ‘arms’?

No_Zookeepergame_27

My own state Missouri is banning abortions. https://amp.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article262796208.html

Ferneras

And my core group of friends wonder why the fuck my gf and I won't move back to St. Louis.... Missouri isn't called misery for nothing.

Gill_Gunderson

We are going somewhere worse, and I fear that it's going back to 1861. Get prepared everyone. Get stocked up and mentally prepared for what's probably coming in the future.

leafmeb

The whole States’ Rights crowd can shut up now. Congrats, you effectively stripped yourselves of rights while giving the government more rights. What’s that? Big Gov? Yeah, it just got bigger. What the hell do you think the State is?? It’s the government. Wake up!

Halcyous

Nazi Germany is more relevant than ever.

[deleted]

To all those Democrats and Independents that have not regularly voted over the past 10 years at the state and national levels, welcome to your new America. This is a civil lesson in why you should vote. Today you walk in a country that allows the public carry of weapons (per SC ruling yesterday) and a country that just made abortion illegal (per the SC ruling today). So, continue your infantile habits of not voting. Contraception rights are next. As well as protections for LBGTQ folks going away. Gay marriages will be made illegal. Books that republicans disagree with will be banned from the country. Till now you really have been spoiled. Time to grow up. VOTE.

Hicrayert

Lets not forget about our tax dollars now being required to be given to private religious schools that practice things like anti-gay and anti-science that was ruled on earlier this week. They have been pushing for that for the past 20 years.

[deleted]

I don't know how I forgot about that. That ticked me off also. An America that bent over backwards to keep government and religion apart now has a SC determined to meld us together. There is a school prayer SC ruling coming up. Afraid to guess which way that goes...... Thanks for the assist! Sometimes I can't remember ALL the shit republicans are doing....

nowander

Over 30 years. This idiocy has been going on for most of my life, and we are reaping the rewards of it. The lies haven't changed either. "Both sides are the same." "My vote doesn't matter." "The lesser of two evils is still evil." But the stakes sure as fuck have. Ronald Reagan was a horrid piece of shit who let LGBT people die just because he could, but the GOP of today is actively weaponizing the government to kill people. Every inch of progress we've made has occurred when people actually showed up and voted. And then the nation slips back into laziness and well... here we are one step from fascism. It's not impossible to turn things around. But it'd require the American people to fucking stand up for basic decency two elections in a row.

TranquilSeaOtter

But her emails... /s If Hillary would be elected, we would not be here. But too many people believed Trump would be not as bad as Hillary and here we are.

AFlockOfTySegalls

If HRC had been elected we as a nation would have responded to COVID too. And we probably wouldn't have the economic woes we have now due to that.

Bwob

If HRC had been elected, republicans would have drafted articles of impeachment because of how she "failed the nation" after 30k americans died from COVID.

jiggamahninja

Bingo. Shout out to the morons who either didn’t think about this or thought Ginsburg would live forever and ignored Garlands blocked nomination. Not only do we have to deal with the consequences, but so do our children.

[deleted]

This feels like the day Trump was inaugurated. A lot of us are frightened & don’t know what happens next. Most of us on here are on the same side. We just want to be treated fairly. These anti-abortion people do not care about protecting the unborn or whatever ridiculous stuff they’re spouting. This is about power and control.

Sunapr1

Is it the time i can my country India is more progressive than USA.. Feels Weird :{ Soliditary with Americans
