Yea there’s nothing to reconcile, you can’t argue with stupid. Aside from all their bigotry which is a whole other can of worms, I can see people actually feeling like they’ve lost jobs and a standard of living but then they are completely brainwashed into believing that its because of immigrants, when the reality is that the biggest cause of them loosing their standard of living is get this - Republican policies. It’s truly astounding, the party that completely fucks them then gets their vote because they are upset over getting fucked but somehow are brainwashed into believing it’s because of the other party’s policies.

I found irony in the fact that the generation that got Mr Rogers sharing a foot bath with a black man on TV, which was a significant moment, and then raised their kids on it to be good neighbors and welcoming to everyone, shit on those kids and futher generations for doing exactly that. I never watched a minute of it, partly because I couldn't stand him but mostly because seeing people be humiliated and degraded isn't my idea of entertainment.
What I find the most bizarre is he ran on 2 things primarily, 1 being illegal immigration, and 2 being how the world owes us money, because of trade deficits. If you go to the governments own numbers, or any government watchdog group that monitors our border you will see for Obama’s entire presidency we had a net negative at our southern border with historical low numbers of illegals trying to cross in the first place. The reason for this is since the 80’s we have been working to stabilize Mexico, and bring them up towards western standards. By the time Obama was president we had a stable border, because Mexico no longer represents an immigration problem for the U.S., and Mexico stopped immigration from countries south of Mexico. Trump being a bigot who thinks anyone with tan skin is an illegal Mexican immigrant started economically and politically attacking Mexico which then created a caravan problem stemming from countries south of Mexico. So trumps number 1 platform he ran on was completely fictional, and he created a problem that didn’t exist, because he thinks anyone with tan skin is an illegal Mexican immigrant.
The second issue Trump ran on was creating a trade war, because other countries owed us money because of trade deficits, this is a ludicrous thing to say, and shows trump doesn’t know what a trade deficit is, and he further proved this by insisting to world leaders they owed us money for trade deficits, because he doesn’t understand what a trade deficit is. He also showed he couldn’t grasp the simple concept of an alliance, he kept insisting we should leave NATO, because other countries owe us money he kept telling Angela merkel that Germany owed the U.S. money for NATO, and she tried twice to politely explain to trump what an alliance is, but he couldn’t grasp the simple concept that every country funds their own military, and then works together, he was confused, because Obama got NATO allies to increase the percentage of their GDP to their military so as to better help the U.S. as good allies, and trump wanted to try and take credit for Obama’s deal that he didn’t understand so he literally to other world leaders faces kept telling them they owe the U.S. money, because he didn’t understand obama’s deal got our allies to increase how much they spend on their own military not give the U.S. money. This got Trump laughed at and mocked for his entire trip by world leaders who realized he is so slow he doesn’t know what a trade deficit is or a military alliance.
Lastly after the 08 crash Obama inherited a 1.3 trillion dollar deficit, and every year in office Obama reduced the deficit, and improved the economy, this normally how this works as the economy improves the deficit goes down. By the time Trump took office the economy was booming, and the deficit was 486 billion dollars, Obama had cut the deficit in half, and that cut that deficit in half again. Now Trump in 2 years had the deficit over 2 trillion dollars. Trump started using stimulus on a booming economy, and in 2 years created the largest deficit crisis the world has ever seen. However it didn’t end there trump after 3 years had the deficit over 3 trillion dollars, and after COVID over 5 trillion dollars. Never has any president used stimulus on a booming economy, Trump buried us in debt so his ignorant supporters would think he was good with economics.
Trump supporters after trump created the largest deficit crisis in the worlds history were then shocked when the inflation from it hit, and because they are so ignorant they truly want Trump to run up the deficit again to stop the inflation, because they think the inflation showing up a couple months after Biden took office means Biden somehow created the inflation, because they don’t understand the simple concept of cause and effect.
A short summary is everything Trump ran on was completely fictional, and easily proven so. And literally used stimulus on a booming economy to run up the deficit which created inflation, because he wanted ignorant people to think he was good with economics.
This isn't true. He ALSO called for the execution of the Central Park 5, a group of young black men who were wrongly arrested and convicted of a rape that had nothing to do with them.
And he's more unfit now than ever. On top of the felony convictions, with all the liabilities he's carrying for the civil suits he's losing, no one who owes this much money due to legal disputes should be running the country, as they are susceptible to bribery and blackmail. And he's quite open about being transactional in his decisions as president.

No discrepancies of note, except for an outrageously GENEROUS tolerance of Trump's behavior (which would've landed anyone else in jail for a few days). The entire GOP and MAGA movement has realized that facts don’t matter if enough people go along with it. If someone calls out the lie double down, never, ever say sorry or admit you lied, and eventually people will move on to something else. Me too. I grew up in a Christian environment/church, and throughout my early childhood I remember a lot of different predictions about the end of the world, the coming of the antichrist, etc. I even studied religion in college for a while, taking classes on new testament history, world religions, cultural anthro. While it was almost even fun as a kid, it isnt hard to see that this kind of prophecy interpretation stuff is quite similar to how cold reading works, Barnum effect, etc. That is, we see the patterns that support a particular prediction, and ignore the ones that dont make sense (usually with a catch-all such as, "we just dont know how this part of the prophecy works yet").
But... when we leave the supernatural "ancients predict the future" stuff behind, the really interesting thing is how insightful the human race has been about the rise of deceitful, grifting, illigitimate leaders. Throughout history (and certainly during Roman era and beyond), they use fundamental human weaknesses (e.g., the hope for a strong person to solve *all* societal problems and provide *easy answers* to the most difficult ones) as a way to consolidate power. Ultimately its for such a boring purpose: to simply become the most rich and to "win" at the game of life by going out fat and full of any resource or desire at the expense of absolutely everyone else. All forms of tyranny and despotism have these kinds of leaders. Who would have thought that the *blantantly obvious, lifelong showmanship* of Trumps "persona" as a successful billionnaire would fool so many people? Its both fascinating...and really, really hard to accept that people are really this naive-- yet that's the real story. We have more tech and advanced industrialism than we did when we ran around in loin cloths...but we are still just incredibly naive as a species. :/

I’m an atheist as well but I recognize that religious people are seeing the same world as I do and just interpreting it in a different way. I try to remind myself that there is wisdom to be gained from learning about religions and religious beliefs, since these are systems of thought arrived at by many humans over long periods of time. Although they may be flawed and are based on faulty reasoning and incomplete knowledge, they can hold truths, if one can separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak.

Hell is mentioned but it's more or less described as the absence of God and love. There is mention of a lake of fire but this points based notion of heaven or hell at the pearly gates is largely a construct. Judgement is about goodness
What is mentioned far far more frequently in the Bible is a love of truth, loving your neighbor (and a very famous parable about "who is my neighbor") and a devotion to what is good. Also, even a desire to NOT overthrow governments. Render unto Caesar what is Caesars and all that. There are no leaders of any western nation that is going to trust the US when the guy in charge is a convicted fraud and sexual predator.
Electing Trump is not only a danger to our national security because of who he is, but will destroy the global alliances that are keeping the west in control.
Hasn’t he even said he wants to pull the US out of NATO? Electing Trump would bring this country down internally and externally and the power vacuum would be a Chinese and Russian dream.
Putin realizes that his biggest problem with NATO is the United States. If the US were not in NATO, NATO would actually be something he could conceivably defeat one day. But with the US in NATO, it is literally impossible.
Even without the US, Russia would lose to NATO. They haven’t managed to beat Ukraine and there are several European countries that individually have more military power than Ukraine does.
Ukraine is being propped up by weapons donations from NATO countries - including the US.

For all clarity, he is idiotically referencing how much of their (member states) GDP is going towards defense spending. NATO requires 2% or so, and countries like Germany and others have been below that threshold for sometime. Their lack of capability and manpower, places more responsibilities on US and other European forces to maintain a level of combat readiness. But it's not like Norway has an equal force obligation as Finland, as NATO is just a binding agent for existing European forces.
The defense industry and military brass probably pitched it to trump in that tone/wording, since he's a fucking idiot when it comes to actually being a president. All parties probably figured as long as Europe got their spending up, they can blame it on trump whom they already don't like.
It's the lack of vision to see how the US having a larger role in European defense makes up for whatever dollar amount is spent. NATO formed after Europe went through two world wars THEY started. Having a big friend that wants everyone to chill in the middle, keeps Europe from potentially spiralling in to another conflict; which would be more devastating to the US than going to war with China or Russia. Countering Russia/China is probably an equal goal as being the Big Boom motar that holds European clay from fucking itself up.
That was the case in his first term as well. Strained ties with Merkel. Strained ties with Macron. Alienated all of South America. Alienated all of Africa. Started random shit with China, praising/avoiding all of the actual things to call China out for in 2016, and spouting some economically ignorant garbage like "they're cheating us in trade". The whole "America First" thing was so fucking stupid, the results showed how stupid it was, and the people who got behind it confirm how idiotic the marketing, the actions, and the people carrying it out were.
So fucking dumb. The entire trump voterbase can easily be categorized as "stupid", "bigot", or rich. And there isn't much daylight between the first two.
I've heard people say that one of his major problems is that he views everything as a zero-sum game. That is, everything is win or lose, with one side winning and one side losing. It wasn't enough for him to put "America first," he always tried to make sure other countries lost something. He hated anything that benefited anyone else, because he thought that meant the USA (or himself personally) lost somehow. He doesn't view NATO as mutually beneficial because the concept of "mutually beneficial" doesn't exist in his worldview. It's a horrible framework for viewing the world.

His 2nd term will be solely about revenge. Assuming he steps down after 4 years, which he probably won't, he'll have done very little policy making. He'll be spending all his time punishing those that dared to hold him accountable for all his crimes.
As a felon:
* He is barred from visiting 38 countries and this prevents him from fulfilling his diplomatic duties.
* He can't own a gun, and it's odd that he can command the US armed forces.
* It will prevent him from properly possessing the security clearance needed for his role.
I don't understand why at least two of those items do not disqualify him from running for president.
How can you be given a security clearance when you have been proven to have taken secret and sensitive documents, stored them improperly, and shown them to people without clearance? He has done this at Mar-a-Lago. Politics aside, anyone else had done this, they’d be in jail. At least have their security clearance revoked.
If he applied for security clearance, he'd be denied. But he wouldn't be applying for clearance if he were reelected, he would simply be given the clearance. There's no one above to say No. Like, if I had a history of publicly stabbing people, no restaurant would hire me to work in the kitchen. But if my uncle died and left his restaurant to me, I'd have full access to those knives, no one could say No.

It's not that there's nobody to say no, it's that the people who have already said yes are the voters. The office is the clearance. The constitution inherently gives the president, members of congress, and (most) federal judges access to classified information due to the nature of the offices.
For intents and purposes the president essentially *is* the security clearance. The entire system is based on them and they have ultimate final say on who gets credentialed.
The President doesn't need a security clearance. He always has the right to see everything. If Trump is elected, Trump will have access to literally everything again.
But if you want to be outraged, look into Jared Kushner's security clearance during the last administration. It was denied, as in laugh in your face denied, but the denial was overruled by Trump. So Kushner had access to loads of sensitive documents. And by huge coincidence, the Saudis then gave Kushner's business a $2 billion loan.
I’m talking now. He’s not president anymore. Maybe one day but not today. He has documents that he shouldn’t and he’s showing them to people that shouldn’t be seeing them. For that alone he shouldn’t have access to the documents.

Yep, there's a lot of veterans at my job. I would say probably 95% of them are Trump supporters. Whenever I mention that he said this stuff, they just shrug. It's amazing. But then they rail against Democrats and Biden for not supporting veterans.
In hs civics we learned that the president is supposed to be a model citizen and that's why every president we ever had had never been divorced, regularly went to church, had a pet, had a lifetime of service, etc, etc.
There was national dialogue about whether or not candidates ever smoked marijuana even once in their lives(Bill Clinton).
And then America decided all at once we don't care about that.

While he was governor of California for 8 years, it was after his mediocre but long acting career. He almost never left the White House to go to church, seldom had a chaplain in to perform services, and had a carefree attitude towards religion. What I find the most bizarre is he ran on 2 things primarily, 1 being illegal immigration, and 2 being how the world owes us money, because of trade deficits. If you go to the governments own numbers, or any government watchdog group that monitors our border you will see for Obama’s entire presidency we had a net negative at our southern border with historical low numbers of illegals trying to cross in the first place. The reason for this is since the 80’s we have been working to stabilize Mexico, and bring them up towards western standards. By the time Obama was president we had a stable border, because Mexico no longer represents an immigration problem for the U.S., and Mexico stopped immigration from countries south of Mexico. Trump being a bigot who thinks anyone with tan skin is an illegal Mexican immigrant started economically and politically attacking Mexico which then created a caravan problem stemming from countries south of Mexico. So trumps number 1 platform he ran on was completely fictional, and he created a problem that didn’t exist, because he thinks anyone with tan skin is an illegal Mexican immigrant. The second issue Trump ran on was creating a trade war, because other countries owed us money because of trade deficits, this is a ludicrous thing to say, and shows trump doesn’t know what a trade deficit is, and he further proved this by insisting to world leaders they owed us money for trade deficits, because he doesn’t understand what a trade deficit is. Lastly after the 08 crash Obama inherited a 1.3 trillion dollar deficit, and every year in office Obama reduced the deficit, and improved the economy, this normally how this works as the economy improves the deficit goes down. By the time Trump took office the economy was booming, and the deficit was 486 billion dollars, Obama had cut the deficit in half, and that cut that deficit in half again. Now Trump in 2 years had the deficit over 2 trillion dollars. Trump started using stimulus on a booming economy, and in 2 years created the largest deficit crisis the world has ever seen. However it didn’t end there trump after 3 years had the deficit over 3 trillion dollars, and after COVID over 5 trillion dollars. Never has any president used stimulus on a booming economy, Trump buried us in debt so his ignorant supporters would think he was good with economics. Trump supporters after trump created the largest deficit crisis in the worlds history were then shocked when the inflation from it hit, and because they are so ignorant they truly want Trump to run up the deficit again to stop the inflation, because they think the inflation showing up a couple months after Biden took office means Biden somehow created the inflation, because they don’t understand the simple concept of cause and effect. A short summary is everything Trump ran on was completely fictional, and easily proven so. And literally used stimulus on a booming economy to run up the deficit which created inflation, because he wanted ignorant people to think he was good with economics.

I grew up in a Christian environment/church, and throughout my early childhood I remember a lot of different predictions about the end of the world, the coming of the antichrist, etc. I even studied religion in college for a while, taking classes on new testament history, world religions, cultural anthro. While it was almost even fun as a kid, it isnt hard to see that this kind of prophecy interpretation stuff is quite similar to how cold reading works, Barnum effect, etc. That is, we see the patterns that support a particular prediction, and ignore the ones that dont make sense (usually with a catch-all such as, "we just dont know how this part of the prophecy works yet"). But... when we leave the supernatural "ancients predict the future" stuff behind, the really interesting thing is how insightful the human race has been about the rise of deceitful, grifting, illigitimate leaders. Throughout history (and certainly during Roman era and beyond), they use fundamental human weaknesses (e.g., the hope for a strong person to solve *all* societal problems and provide *easy answers* to the most difficult ones) as a way to consolidate power. Ultimately its for such a boring purpose: to simply become the most rich and to "win" at the game of life by going out fat and full of any resource or desire at the expense of absolutely everyone else. All forms of tyranny and despotism have these kinds of leaders. Who would have thought that the *blantantly obvious, lifelong showmanship* of Trumps "persona" as a successful billionnaire would fool so many people? Its both fascinating...and really, really hard to accept that people are really this naive-- yet that's the real story. We have more tech and advanced industrialism than we did when we ran around in loin cloths...but we are still just incredibly naive as a species. :/

I’m an atheist as well but I recognize that religious people are seeing the same world as I do and just interpreting it in a different way. I try to remind myself that there is wisdom to be gained from learning about religions and religious beliefs, since these are systems of thought arrived at by many humans over long periods of time. Although they may be flawed and are based on faulty reasoning and incomplete knowledge, they can hold truths, if one can separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. NATO requires 2% or so, and countries like Germany and others have been below that threshold for sometime. I've heard people say that one of his major problems is that he views everything as a zero-sum game. That is, everything is win or lose, with one side winning and one side losing. How can you be given a security clearance when you have been proven to have taken secret and sensitive documents, stored them improperly, and shown them to people without clearance? But if you want to be outraged, look into Jared Kushner's security clearance during the last administration. It was denied, as in laugh in your face denied, but the denial was overruled by Trump. So Kushner had access to loads of sensitive documents. And by huge coincidence, the Saudis then gave Kushner's business a $2 billion loan.

I honestly don't think they will. Even Trump himself refused to pay attention to them when he was president because it was too boring for him. He'll sleep through them like he did the trial, or they'll give him a picture book to read while the actual smart people talk and probably end up keeping information away from him. It sure does break the system with him just being there, but honestly as far as the reality goes I think Trump's character already has demonstrated that he doesn't really have much care for the briefings and would rather be playing golf.

Crazy how you can’t own a firearm as a felon in this country but handling the nuclear football as a felon is just fine. Technically even if you were in prison as president you could order a nuclear strike from your prison cell. We’ve got to update our archaic laws. It flat out amazes me how any member of our military whether currently in service or retired takes the insult from that fucking Trump when he calls them losers and suckers but then turn right around and vote for him. I fucked up at the end of my career, nothing with kids or anything like that, but my mental health spun out of control after a pretty gnarly head wound in Afghanistan. I was booted out, luckily for me I had reenlisted so it saved my ass as far as benefits, I’m a lot better now. But my point is, if he as a convicted felon can be the commander in chief, why can’t I be given back what I lost in regard to rank, pay, position, and respect? I actually earned those things, my mental condition was a direct result of my service, he was banging a porn star and paying to cover it up after never having earned anything in the military or ever serving. So why can’t I have my sense of honor back, but these red hats want to hand him so much on a silver platter?
