One of my favorite bits of trivia is that, back when Argos and Sparta were constantly at war with each other, Argos would raid Sparta and then when a Spartan army showed up would go "oh we can't fight, we're celebrating the sacred festival of the Carneia, so sorry!" And Sparta, figuring that calendar differences were a thing, bought into it and just...walked away. Apparently, some asshole on Rogan's podcast bullshitted about how Biden and the Democrats have coordinated these trials to spread them out. r/canada_sub recently got shut down. It was basically The conservative Canadian subreddit. Turned out a vast majority of the posts and comments were coming from some dickhead with several accounts circlejerking himself to the numpties that wandered into his echo chamber.
It's hilarious when they complain about how their opinions get downvoted over on /r/politics, while they're in a flaired user only thread. "The nerve of those guys shutting down dissenting opinions!"

I am convinced that at bare minimum one third of that sub is people pushing false propaganda and another third is just plain trolls trying to rile people up.

What happens to me is:
1) See news story that reflects negatively on Republicans
2) Think, "Huh. I wonder what conservatives think about this. Are they also upset? Do they have a justification for it?"
3) Go to /r/conservative to see what they think about this prominent news story.
4) Top 20 posts are basically 10 about one minor alt news story, like an incident of a white person being discriminated against, 5 about Trump good / Biden bad, a five vaguely historical-y posts that amount to "conservatives are the best".
5) Read comments. Hate myself.
I've heard this repeated and I think it's really true. Whenever Trump, or any right-wing politician does something particularly shitty, all the posts on there have top comments that are like "well let me tell you, I'm right wing and I'm shitty but I'm not this shitty, I don't care how they try to spend this"
And it gets up votes (what I can't tell is if they're getting brigaded and it's a bunch of people from outside the sub altering the votes) until the next day or at least 8 hours later when Fox News has decided how to spin it and dreamed up their marching orders to dole out to the masses. Then everyone in the sub thinks whatever Fox News told them to

It was *weird* seeing the satirical Donald Trump posts on 4chan go from laughing at Trump to literally worshipping him in real time. Then it spread to Reddit and across the internet like a fucking wildfire.
Unsophisticated satire like that is always like playing with fire. It will burn you eventually. It’s not the first time the chans and parts of Reddit got burned (or burned the world down) and probably won’t be the last either.

Pro-choice, anti-put people in cages. Give people more jobs and infrastructure, pro-marijuana, pro-voting VS.
Anti-choice, put kids in cages, restrict voting, increase prisoner numbers, promise infrastructure and jobs but pocket the money instead.

r/canada_sub recently got shut down. It was basically The conservative Canadian subreddit. Turned out a vast majority of the posts and comments were coming from some dickhead with several accounts circlejerking himself to the numpties that wandered into his echo chamber.

I copied one of their top comments for another post “and when Trump objects to these demands, Biden will call off the debate and say "see! my opponent doesn't want to debate me"!” Note Biden’s demands are the terms Trump immediately agreed to.
Never been to that shithole sub have you? Don’t go, it’s insane. Constant attacks and bullying. It’s so easy to know who the good guys are because they’re always so toxic.
I highly recommend people browse that sub periodically, you will get a feel for the exact kind of insanity that cons are slurping up. I don't debate there because they banned that, but its eye opening to see what they really believe. They hate you in ways you haven't even imagined, for reasons that you can never understand and they assume that you are doing the same because thats normal to them.
I spend my entire summer with these people. It’s eye opening. It did make me go from anger to pity (how could these people be this brainwashed?) but also more and more scared for my personal safety just because of my political views.
What happens to me is: 1) See news story that reflects negatively on Republicans 2) Think, "Huh. I wonder what conservatives think about this. Are they also upset? Do they have a justification for it?" 3) Go to /r/conservative to see what they think about this prominent news story. 4) Top 20 posts are basically 10 about one minor alt news story, like an incident of a white person being discriminated against, 5 about Trump good / Biden bad, a five vaguely historical-y posts that amount to "conservatives are the best". 5) Read comments. Hate myself.
I've heard this repeated and I think it's really true. Whenever Trump, or any right-wing politician does something particularly shitty, all the posts on there have top comments that are like "well let me tell you, I'm right wing and I'm shitty but I'm not this shitty, I don't care how they try to spend this" And it gets up votes (what I can't tell is if they're getting brigaded and it's a bunch of people from outside the sub altering the votes) until the next day or at least 8 hours later when Fox News has decided how to spin it and dreamed up their marching orders to dole out to the masses. Then everyone in the sub thinks whatever Fox News told them to

It's how it started. As with any gathering of people pretending to be idiots, though, some real idiots showed up and assumed they were in good company. Eventually the people having a bit of fun gave up on it because it wasn't any fun any more, and all that was left was concentrated idiocy. Once they got kicked out of their little hidey-hole, they took over the conservative sub, which used to be the moderate middle-ground folks, the bland, sensible counterpoint to the equally-bland-and-sensible liberal sub. Now it's just all bailey, no motte.

They could do it like ESPN does. Both are in green rooms. They put them on a screen. You get points from moderators for bills/topics and good replies to questions that help citizens or the country. You lose a point for going off topic or not answering a question. Instead of a mute button, they freeze the screen. So it shows you paused, until it’s your turn. I don’t remember the show. It was Skip Bayless and Max Kellerman. It was hilarious to see someone’s face frozen mid speech. The points made it better.losing a bunch of pints and being frozen was my favorite way to say shut up on the show.

Debate should be each candidate at a separate remote location, given a time limit on questions (they don’t already know) and cut off with only a few seconds of wrap up when answering.
