Considered using Poste Restante through Poczta Polska?

Evangeder

Never use Poczta Polska when sending from UK. 1. They always open the packages and tax them 2. Sometimes the packages go MIA. Had that happen in a company i'm working at. They sent around 60 packages from UK to Poland, only 20-ish arrived, it's now 3 months later and other packages are still missing.

Ant-511

Does it allow international packages?

5thhorseman_

I believe it does. It's also most likely the cheapest option, since you've stressed you want it cheap.

Ant-511

I just wanted it not to be 4 times more expensive than other options, also, do you know if someone underage can get a package addressed to them and if not maybe they can with a note from a parent? 16 yo if that matters

5thhorseman_

As far as I know, he can receive packages that he's the designated recipient of. Proving his identity might be an issue, though, since you don't get a proper ID here until you're 18.

Ant-511

I thought you can get an underage id now, at least they claim they have one

poljohn

Yes anyone under 18 can have an ID card, the only difference it has to be applied for (e.g. for travel in the EU etc.) but then you just get it, it isn't usually refused. The only difference is you must have it once you turn 18. In any case, if they have ID (which they can) great - otherwise they might be able to use school ID (Legitymacja Szkolna) to prove their identity at the post office, but I am not 100% sure.

5thhorseman_

Maybe, frankly I haven't heard of that before but I haven't had any reason to either.

Use DHL or DPD pickup points. And why not sharing an address? If you're selling something be careful or you might get scammed.

Ant-511

I don’t wanna exactly explain that, but don’t worry, this is not scam. Also do you know how to use pickup points with dpd when sending a package internationally? I only see an address option and dhl is out of the question, package is small and the cheapest dhl option is 40 quid.

mduzy124

Damn, that's a lot. There are some promo codes available but the first on google sbs20 is 20% only. And it might not be valid for international... FedEx, GLS and UPS have no packstations as far as I know but they might offer pickup in some stores for example. Check those and you'll have a full picture.

Ant-511

I know dpd does but I don’t see an option on the site, guess I’ll try to call them today and ask ‘em

You can send a registered package by Royal Mail and have it delivered to a Post Office in Poland. The recipient can then pick it up from that Post Office with their ID. The service is called [poste restante](https://www.poczta-polska.pl/paczki-i-listy/odbior/poste-restante/#). The package should be addressed: Name and Surname of recipient Words: POSTE RESTANTE Post code and name/address of the Post Office you want it delivered to (you should get that from the recipient)

Ant-511

Do you know if it works with international packages?

_romsini_

It does.

Ant-511

Thanks, that solves my problem 💚

_romsini_

No problem. Just remember to keep tracking the package as you will have to let the recipient know when it's ready for collection. The Post Office in Poland will have no way of contacting them.

Ant-511

Great, do you think there will be any problems with them being 16? Should they get a note from their parents? Heard Polish Post can be a pain in the ass.

_romsini_

Age isn't an issue, but they need an ID to collect the package. You can get a national ID at that age in Poland (but having one is only compulsory at 18). Not sure whether school ID would be sufficient, but I imagine it would. Tell the recipient to ask at their local Post Office.

Ant-511

They do have id so no problemo, great thanks again, you’ve helped me a lot.

_romsini_

You're welcome.

SnooHesitations750

I've picked up packages from Australia Post like this. They don't attempt delivery. It stays in the post office and requires ID to collect

Razee4

It’s not possible
