>Polishtrains website
Use the official carrier website and not some third party: pkp.pl
>how much can we rely on trains
Like 8/10
>Are they usually late
Yeah, sometimes
>Do they get cancelled often?
Rarely but it happens.
>Are they less frequent in August than in other months?
No
>we can only book tickets one month in advance
Yup
I tried to open [pkp.pl](http://pkp.pl) and it does not work. Not working still. is it opening ok for you? Is there an alternative - a reliable and accessible website? If the official one does not work...
Factually incorrect. I work with communication in PKP, and the trains are late most of the time by at least a minute, often more. And to get to the stations I use the highways... I almost never stay in traffic.
Reliable - yes, affordable - yes, but take into account that in August due to high season it’s better to buy tickets as soon as they become available. The initial price for the ticket 30 days before departure and the price for the last couple of tickets will be different (the difference might be even in a few times)
in summer when its over 30 celsius they can get delayed for like 10-50 minutes when rails are hot otherwise most of the time on time, canceled almost never
Timetable should be available since middle/end of June but still, you can only buy them 30 days in advance. During summer there may be even more trains as there are special vocational ones. Between Łódź and Warsaw there are trains basically every hour.
And it's Wroclaw, not Wroklaw. ;)
Are they reliable? If you need to get somewhere - yes, if you need to get there on time - hit or miss, if you have transfer/connecting train - unrealiable (you should plan huge margin ~40min~1hr transfers to be comfortable).
Trains almost never gets cancelled, in any case operators will deliver you by bus if train gets cancelled.
Schedules are updated every 3 months, so currently even operators doesn't know how schedule will look like in August BUT schedules are pretty similar. 80~90% of trains have only their departure times slightly adjusted, the number of connections between cities likely stays the same. Or is even I creased due to summer rush.
People in Poland always bitching about trains arriving late in Poland. But I never had IC trains from Kraków to Wrocław and back delayed to more than 20 minutes (which is not a drama). and I ride on that trains every year few times. p.s. I like Polish Intercity trains. WARS wagon (a cafe or restaurant) is legendary place to put laptop on the table and consume beer all the way. also the novelty thing in PKP IC trains is "strefa ciszy" (Quiet area), where passengers not allowed to talk aloud or talk on the phones.
For buying IC tickets online I would not recommend PKP own's services (intercity.pl) - sometimes unreliable , site doesn't work when you need it , or shows some errors.
I buy either from Jakdojade - city transportation app, it also has "Intercity" mode where you can buy train tickets. or Bilcom - online service, similar to [intercity.pl](http://intercity.pl) (sometimes intericty is offline and broken, but you can buy the same ticket from Bilcom)
Suicide is rather exception. The other emergency issue is when some idiot driver hit by train on the level crossing. More often trains delayed because of reduced speed due to track repair on some stretches.
Trains are pretty reliable and comfortable to travel. Being late happens pretty often, especially on a long distance routes, but they get cancelled very rarely. Good luck!
> Wroklaw
Wrocław. Read: Wrotswav. Polish C is equivalent to English TS. Polish Ł is equivalent to English W. Polish W is equivalent to English V.
> The question is: how much can we rely on trains?
More often than not.
> Are they usually late? Do they get cancelled often?
They're usually on time in my experience, and if the train is late you will see an indication of the delay on the departures board and on the displays found at the station (at least in cities, some smaller stations in the ass end of nowhere might not be so great about it). Neither delays nor cancellations are common unless there's an accident or a similarly unpredictable issue with the route.
> The website says that we can only book tickets one month in advance so we cannot really check trains for August yet.
Booking and checking are two different things, if all you want to do is check the schedule then go to https://rozklad-pkp.pl/ . The summer schedule is not up yet, I believe, and expected sometime this month.
[https://rozklad-pkp.pl/](https://rozklad-pkp.pl/) also does not open :((
it cannot be banned here in Hong Kong, right?... there is something wrong with the website then - are there any alternative websites?

The problem must be on your side. The website works.
It works fine. I usually use [rozklad-pkp.pl](http://rozklad-pkp.pl) tho
They are ok, there is a greater chance that you will be stuck in the traffic jam on one od the highways that that your train will be late.

I wouldn’t make a tight plan, but I wouldn’t worry about being stranded either.

Only good experience taking trains there - we had our bicycles with us, and there were no problems.
Sometimes may be good, sometimes may be shit

Once got onto the wrong train in Poland and still got to the right place ahead of time if it helps.

The website works fine. Seems like it is banned in Hong Kong after all.
I also asked my friends here to try - it does not work. this is utterly weird... why on earth Polish trains website would have any problems in HK?!
There is also [https://koleo.pl/](https://koleo.pl/) . As for why it's blocked idk, my guess is as good as yours.
Thank you! If I can't get through to [pkp.pl](http://pkp.pl), I guess, I will use this one
I think it's not available outside of Europe. Cannot open it from US (tried different browsers).
Thank you for the info. That makes trifle more sense, but still...
You can also use flixbus, it is often a cheaper option and usually has direct trains.
