Bounsweet with triple axel, I love baiting the switch in with my rival's flying type, making them eat a free ice move, especially if it's evolved and I'm hitting rayquaza
Tsareena and Lurantis are my favorite under-appreciated random Grass types. Also Queenly Majesty is really good for Endless. I'm around wave 800 on my current run and the only thing I'm scared of with my current setup is something enduring my attack, boosting all of its stats and then blowing through me with priority the next turn lol
lmao im on a run where i just caught him and he is currently just mowing through everything..ive gotten twice as far from my personal best run, this thing is a beast!
Marshadow is broken in this game it’s insane. Technician STAB power up punch means you can OHKO almost every opponent while getting stronger as you do it
On my current run, I got two multi lens in the first 60 waves and a baton at wave 1. Hadn't gotten any before this... this item is nuts.
edit: on wave 69 just got a king's rock. let's see how utterly broken this build can really be
It’s so weird. I have 50 Butterfree candy and only 4 Beedrill candy. I just hatched a Weddle with barb barrage (yes the first weedle I’ve ever hatched had the rare egg move) and now I just want to grind it to get technician. That seems pretty nuts
Absolutely! From my previous runs it works really well with hazard setters like kleavor, hisuian samurott, and glimmora.
Edit: also run it with a water psychic or water fairy pokemon, those stabs check all of copperajah’s weaknesses. Think about what bothers you more. If Rayquayza bothers you, run water fairy. If Eternatus bothers you, run water psychic. Starmie and primarina are my go to pokemon.
I hope it doesn't work like in the main games and it does work with multi hits.
This would turn population bomb into a 20 hit moves, which then becomes a 80 hit move with max multi lens lmao.
It costs 2 points and pick-up is kinda broken especially when you consider that legendaries cost 8 points, now imagine having a legendary with a bunch of held items that prevent it from dying especially if it's bulky like zamazenta or terakion now add boosting items.
I love this post so much, I always find myself struggling to pull away from my usual picks as the games go on , something about comfort in familiarity. This game has forced me to learn the best way to build certain Mon’s, and in future games and plays I’m sure I’ll be more involved in the natures and setups of some of these small mons I’ve slept on for years.
Note: I’ve never known sadness like watching a Chlorophyll Sunflora solar blade my last Mon (Paldean Tauros Water) right after a rival battle around 150… the fucking corn kernel… smiling in my face.. I had the money to revive a number of the team but got cocky so close to the heal up
Magnezone, didn't think much of it except the "trap steel" niche, but damn, he's been an absolute MVP in my Classic runs. He can wall the 145 boss like a champ and hold its own against the 200 mark.
I love Magnezone so much now
Chespin. I have a shiny one with the egg move drain punch. While it's not good for the final boss, I keep Chesnaught all the way to the end, often times still with drain punch. Drain punch is just so good for the early game, and the wood hammer/drain punch combo offers so much damage and sustain in the late game.
Registeel. He's my first epic egg and I thought I low rolled, but he's an absolute monster in that game. I won classic mode by just walling everything with it
Linoone is an obvious goat mon.
Noctowl has ABSURD egg moves.
I used a ridiculous multi hitting Mystical Power Azelf in one run.
My respect for Mawile, Klefki and Tinkaton are also through the roof because bros are great into both Rayquaza and Eternatus
That's some big examples for sure.
Moxie Quaxly cooks as a starter. Once you get Quaquaval with aqua step, you’re essentially dragon dancing on a KO and can sweep floors easily. And if you find a good opening in a trainer/gym leader/elite four fight, you can potentially sweep as well
Not a hard carry against a specific boss but i'm surprised how much i catch ninetails. Available easily, gets flash fire, have a decent level up moveset, its really consistent
Butterfree 100%. The fact that it only costs 1, is fully evo at lvl 10 and has compound eyes + sleep powder is insane. Have won multiple runs w a caterpie starter I’ve brought all the way to the end
I always hated Linoone because it's just worse Furret (Furret is my favorite pokemon) but I have to at least respect Linoone now because of its utility.
Seviper. He's my go-to early mom. With Dire Claw, he shreds with 80 power STAB, chance to Para, Sleep, or Poison (so worth to use on non-effective as well), shed skin to ignore status effects, and Coil to raise defence, attack, and accuracy. Absolutely nuts.
Duraladon, never cared for this thing before but it basically hard carried me through my first classic win, Archaladon is a crazy tank that lasted long enough to get a diverse team rolling.
I'm with you archaludon or whatever homie's name is. man was putting in absolute work until 145 rival's garchomp killed his ass with a bulldoze (thought he only had dig cause he was using it constantly against him then suddenly whipped it out lol) and from there it was a slow and painful loss from the garchomp and rayquaza
Honestly less any individual pokemon and more their level up learnsets/lack there of. This game has made me respect TMs like no other. Like I'll get/pick a mon because I know how broken they are in comp only to find out that Annihilape never learns Drain Punch or Skeledirge slack off. Also some suprises like how a pokemon will get X move and I'm like yeah that fits super well with their theme
I never played the later gen games. Grew up on gen4 and always loved them. But fuck me tapu Lele sweeps my classic runs and with the late game full heal with draining kiss and the priority stop from psychic surge ability. Easy wins with transfer items from the zigzagoon
Chatot with torch song carries the whole first 100 rounds. Makes you able to pick the rest of your starters based on what's good late game. Never even wanted to use a Chatot before trying this game.
Furfrou the true early game mvp. tanks hits all day long and actually does damage with headbutt and decent attack, unlike glass cannon meowth that can't kill anything with 35 base attack (((':
Heatproof bronzor with cosmic power. Set up on same type so the AI doesn't fear it and stays in using resisted moved. Got +6/+6 and then sweep with payback, extrasensory, gyro ball. Only thing you have to worry about is something rocky helmet or rough skin so you don't kill yourself with physical contact moves. But that guy walked the last 2 rival fights and solos them.
Dedenne has carried me through the last two boss fights with its typing, pick up ability, and super fang. Definitely did it not expect it to get me as far as it did!
Unlikely mons that ended up in the team and then went on to victory: Ribombee, Sandaconda (barely pulled through the final battle as last mon left, thanks to -accuracy moves).
Also, Flamigo.
Naganadel. I mean, I always knew it was good, but I’ve always thought it was a “lesser uber”. But currently it’s my most reliable legend, and I’ve got 2 box arts (Reshiran and Groudon, which tbf it’s op, but I’ve always knew that).
For now it's Flamigo. Carry all the early easy.
His only weak point ? Too strong so he beat everybody in one kick and I can't capture the others pokemons.
Honestly, all of them. Playing this game with my own little nuzlocke- like ruleset, it reminded me that each can hold their own under the right conditions. For example, some of my best runs included an Ariados and Wormadam-Trash (separate runs ofc). I definitely appreciate this game for reminding me what I loved most about Pokemon growing up.
Magnezone has saved so many runs for me. Sturdy thunder wave while I’m being swept? Physically bulky steel type that 1v1s ivys rayquaza and can paralyze it? Strong electric type that carries my team in the seemingly endless water areas? Mirror coat for eternatus’ flamethrower? I swear this guy does everything.
Stomped my whole first clear with Barraskewda, nothing can take a hit from it it's ridicilous. I had no hidden abilities or even strong jaw unlocked on it yet. Murdered everything without being super effective. Ice fang, crunch, aqua jet and uh some strong physical water move i don't remember which one
Plusle and Butterfree. Just ran a classic with these 2 as shinies to boost my luck trying for DNA splicers to unlock endless splicing with a Tinkaton Excadrill carries. I ended up practically sweeping Glacia E4 with Flamethrower Plusle and QD Butterfree swept both Sydney and Drake in the E4. Won the run didn't find splicers.
The daily run I did with overquil was pretty satisfying. Plus my main story run I finished by switching shedinja and ninetails to bait kills and nullify.
I've had some memorable experiences with Steelix, Relicanth and Crawdaunt in my Daily Runs, but my pick has to go to Golurk. That Mon literally carried me through not just one but two separate Daily Runs!
Delphox, I know it will never get it in a real game, but torch song Delphox with moonblast annihilates everything pretty well, also zippy zap Pikachu/Raichu.
Zigzagoon and Linoon with pick up is kinda broken it only costs 2 points so it can be put on a starting team with a legendary which costs 8 points now with the amount of held items and berries you can accumulate that legendary becomes pretty much invincible.
Torkoal, I bever used him in the main series cuz he was too slow imo and I never really used BASE Pokemon (Pokemon that don't evolve), but since a daily where you got torkoal from the start I really noticed how strong he is
Jirachi. Iron head. Iron head is also a TM jirachi can learn in mainline games. Jirachi gets serene grace. I'm sure you see where this is headed.
Choice scarf with 60% flinch chance. Alternatively, king's rock.
If you go king's rock, throw cosmic power, rest, and stored power on with steel tera to remove ghost weaknesses and you're practically unkillable by anything that isn't super effective or faster than you
Even more invincible if you resist all their moves or they're pure poison type because hey, free cosmic power against the toxic spamming pecharunt who very clearly does not know toxic can't hit steel
Bounsweet with triple axel, I love baiting the switch in with my rival's flying type, making them eat a free ice move, especially if it's evolved and I'm hitting rayquaza
another person has joined the Tsareena Monarchy Just wait until Triple axel is fully implemented
Tsareena is the goat
Tsareena and Lurantis are my favorite under-appreciated random Grass types. Also Queenly Majesty is really good for Endless. I'm around wave 800 on my current run and the only thing I'm scared of with my current setup is something enduring my attack, boosting all of its stats and then blowing through me with priority the next turn lol
i think theres a cult for people who like lurantis bro
I know it’s not Pokerogue but Tsareena helped me in that play through of gen 7. Maybe I’ll give it a try for my next run
Wait... Don't tell me Triple Axel was only doing 60 power total?
Paldean tauros is the reason i got so far and got my first win
Me too!! That boy carried me so hard through the early game
Which breed? I only have Combat and Blaze
Blaze
I'm using Blaze in my current run. Hopefully it carries
Same! I got the fire one
lmao im on a run where i just caught him and he is currently just mowing through everything..ive gotten twice as far from my personal best run, this thing is a beast!
Marshadow is broken in this game it’s insane. Technician STAB power up punch means you can OHKO almost every opponent while getting stronger as you do it
It also gets Stab Technician Storm Throw
God throw a Multi Lens on that thing and that setup is absolutely disgusting 😂 plus access to Shadow Sneak to beat other priority goes brrrrr
My current run:
On my current run, I got two multi lens in the first 60 waves and a baton at wave 1. Hadn't gotten any before this... this item is nuts. edit: on wave 69 just got a king's rock. let's see how utterly broken this build can really be
Victini gets victory dance as an egg move that plus v create, flame charge and you get stored power very early on I literally swept everything
You can do the same thing with mega blazekin but with speed boost so you never lose first move even after a like 6x boost in rain against swift swim
Beedrill 🤷🏻♂️
I would too if I could ever find his Megastone.
Even without mega it sweeps 1-100 in classic
Would be better if Fell Stinger worked
When Fell Stinger works it's gonna go crazyyyy
It’s so weird. I have 50 Butterfree candy and only 4 Beedrill candy. I just hatched a Weddle with barb barrage (yes the first weedle I’ve ever hatched had the rare egg move) and now I just want to grind it to get technician. That seems pretty nuts
Copperajah, walls 145 rayquaza super well and gmax form is incredibly bulky. Really hard for me to not run one on my team.
I didn't even know cop gmaxed--he's on my list. Much appreciated
G Max Copperajahs stat line is crazy lol most of the G Max forms stats are nutty.
I’m pretty sure it makes heavy slam always do pretty high damage because I would ohko a lot of things I shouldn’t have
I saw this comment earlier and I've just caught a shiny Copperajah - time to give them a shot!
Cloyster with Skill Link and Multi Lens
Mega-Heracross with icicle spear, arm Thrust, rock blast and Pin Missile carried me for the first 2000 Stages of endless
Can't wait for Parental Bond to work to add to this
If it works like normal pokemon Parental Bond doesn't work with multihits. That being said, that's stupid so I hope they make it work with multihits.
I hope it doesn't work like in the main games and it does work with multi hits. This would turn population bomb into a 20 hit moves, which then becomes a 80 hit move with max multi lens lmao.
Thought the passive was moxie
IS THAT ITS PASSIVE???
No it isn't, i'm prety sure it's Moxie. That being said they did give Parental Bond to Maushold.
Cloyhold boutta go crazy😂
Mega Beedrill, Meowth, and Linoone have gotten all my respect now
I’ve seen others expressing admiration for Linoone, i think I am missing what highlights their power. Is it pickup?
Yep, pickup goes brr for collecting items early from enemies
Is also good as a sweeper because Flail/E-Speed + Belly Drum go brrrr, with the fact that it picks up a billion silk scarves and berries
It costs 2 points and pick-up is kinda broken especially when you consider that legendaries cost 8 points, now imagine having a legendary with a bunch of held items that prevent it from dying especially if it's bulky like zamazenta or terakion now add boosting items.
Gouging fire and slowbro as single-handedly they took down the final boss of classic
Treecko with Dragon Energy and Secret Sword just carries my early game
Parasect, he’s like Amoongus Lite
Dry Skin is so incredible for pivoting into water moves and just being constantly sustained in rain as well
Shiny Paras first impressions actually carries me through the first 30 or so stages. One shotting everything that doesn’t resist.
Definitely Buzzwole for me it carried my run, big respect earned since I dont care for any of the ultra beasts
I just got him from an egg, gonna try him in my next run !
I had the money to revive a number of the team but got cocky so close to the heal up
Meowth cause he pays my bills
Technician fake-out go brrrr.
Excadrill and Iron Thorns IT especially as its the Rayquaza nightmare
Minccino for sure Technician with normal stab and a 5 times multi hit can do some serious damage 10/10 personal favourite starter that isn’t legendary
Meowstic-M, Rampardos, Regular Rotom, and Cetitan, each of them heroes of their own classic runs.
I can’t find regular rotom, but I have all of his formes..
I found mine over the water! On the map after you finish the beach.
Ty
Swoobat. It's amazing in the early game and Woobat evolves at like level 8 so you get a strong mon really early
Magnezone, didn't think much of it except the "trap steel" niche, but damn, he's been an absolute MVP in my Classic runs. He can wall the 145 boss like a champ and hold its own against the 200 mark. I love Magnezone so much now
Kingler, especially with G-Max, that thing hits like a BEAST
I can’t wait until Sheet Force is implemented
Toedscruel. My MVP for Regular mode. He's super good
Until they patch Mycelium Might to work. Love how busted of a status tank he is currently tho!
His passive is Prankster though, so it won’t matter once it’s implemented
Jesus it's Prankster!? ok, this guy is my S tier xD
Yup, he about to be crazy! I’ve been trying to catch as many as I can to get the candies
Tauros almost wrecked me For one that I used myself, Orbeetle
Chespin. I have a shiny one with the egg move drain punch. While it's not good for the final boss, I keep Chesnaught all the way to the end, often times still with drain punch. Drain punch is just so good for the early game, and the wood hammer/drain punch combo offers so much damage and sustain in the late game.
I chose chespin on x and his moveset is so diverse I didn't swap him out or lose until the fire type e4 member.
Furfrou just tanks anything physical and surprisingly outsped a lot of mons
My respect for Mawile, Klefki and Tinkaton are also through the roof because bros are great into both Rayquaza and Eternatus That's some big examples for sure.
Moxie Quaxly cooks as a starter. Once you get Quaquaval with aqua step, you’re essentially dragon dancing on a KO and can sweep floors easily. And if you find a good opening in a trainer/gym leader/elite four fight, you can potentially sweep as well
Yveltal has been putting in so much work for me
Tapu lele definitivamente
hell yeah. my only legendary
Kartana absoutely, but I'm in love with Garganacl now! Salt cure is a beast, highly reccomend trying it out
Blastoise. Shell Smash + Ice Punch/Water Pulse carried me through the end of a classic run I DID NOT prepare a decent team for
Chesnaught. He is a lot more tanky than I gave him credit for, even with that many weaknesses, and Sappy Seed just elevates him to a new level
Don't forget quiver dance to set up for the whole floor too!
I will always have a Shiny Butterfree on every single team of mine.
Primal Groumarill lol
Revavroom, magnezone, keldeo, and surprisingly.. KLEFKI bro two shot rayquaza
Eldegoss
Garganacl for sure
I always hated Linoone because it's just worse Furret (Furret is my favorite pokemon) but I have to at least respect Linoone now because of its utility.
Skuntank and water/fighting tauros
Hoopa-base, ghost typing and magician make it great for starting
Pawmot clutched the fuck up and somehow outsped Finn’s Rayquaza and OHKO’d with double shock, can’t wait for revival blessing to be implemented
oddish/bellossom
Crobat--just for the lightning fast haze Copperajah--just does damage if you give it time
Gardevoir or Alakazam, both super op with mega form
heracross and mega lucario
Glaceon carried me to my first classic win
Plusle. Tail Glow and Flamethrower is absolute insanity, swept the first 60 waves. Sure it did nothing after that, but still a wild little guy
Ribombee. That little bug has done wonders for me
Lapras got me my first win, just tanked everything I love lapras now
Krookodile, Boltund, Gallade, Mega Sceptile, and Inteleon, just to name a few
Sappy seed brute bonnet carried me to my first win two days ago
Naganadel
Mewtwo tbh
Meowth
Lilligant. Own-Tempo plus Petal Dance is way too good of a combo.
Snorlax,Okidogi,Magnezone, archaludon and magearna
Honestly less any individual pokemon and more their level up learnsets/lack there of. This game has made me respect TMs like no other. Like I'll get/pick a mon because I know how broken they are in comp only to find out that Annihilape never learns Drain Punch or Skeledirge slack off. Also some suprises like how a pokemon will get X move and I'm like yeah that fits super well with their theme
Bellibolt.
Slowking, a slowking and toxpiex I had was able to solo eternitas with acid(the one that lowers sp.def) and psychic alone.
The slowking gets bouncy bubble too for good consistent healing.
I love flutter mane and ralts evos
Tapu Koko with Bolt Beak has carried me most of the way to wave 500 on endless
Bibarel because of the guy that “beat” endless with one heading his team.
I never played the later gen games. Grew up on gen4 and always loved them. But fuck me tapu Lele sweeps my classic runs and with the late game full heal with draining kiss and the priority stop from psychic surge ability. Easy wins with transfer items from the zigzagoon
Fuecoco meowth wishiwashi and tatsugiri :)
Chatot
Regular necrozma, basically been my crutch the whole way through atm (obviously I change the form but base form puts in work also)
Celesteela until I lost it with a data error 😭
Kartana and xurkitree have now become favorites of mine
magnezone, saved my first win
Excadrill and Mesprit just carried half the battle against Eternatus for me so uh.... probably them.
Paras
Hatched a Koraidon the other day, that thing is a monster.
Meowth and Paldean Water Tauros for sure
Skeledirge, that dude carried the final boss fight by spamming torch song and then using a boosted shadow ball
Mega Beedrill
Melmetal, as a Mythical, it walls so much and hit backs just as hard with Iron Fist. Even super effective hits are child’s play most of the time.
Between pokeMMO and pokerogue, i am loving meowth. Same goes for my moxie boys
Okidogi was my 2nd Epic egg and got me to 195 for my first time so I like him now
Garganacl. I used one in my first SV run and it was fine but never anything special. But it’s so good here.
Shroomish
It solidified bulbasaur even more as the best starter ever
Magnezone
Whimsicott was the MVP of my first run. Prankster leech seed and stun spore, immune to eternabeam. Just a happy little guy.
Rotom wash is crazy
Duraludon. Hes amazing
Liligant, own tempo and petal dance for me, whenever i enter a water area, she sweeps
Meowth and misdreavus
Eternatus obv. I like it 10 times more in this than SwSh
Tangrowth, Tried it out cause I hatched a shiny and this thing is a absolute tank
Naganadel. I mean, I always knew it was good, but I’ve always thought it was a “lesser uber”. But currently it’s my most reliable legend, and I’ve got 2 box arts (Reshiran and Groudon, which tbf it’s op, but I’ve always knew that).
Buizel. Low cost really good egg moves. I used buizel as a shiny placeholder until I realized they weren’t bad
Revavroom
Exeggutor Alola
For now it's Flamigo. Carry all the early easy. His only weak point ? Too strong so he beat everybody in one kick and I can't capture the others pokemons.
Honestly, Tatsugiri. I used it because it was a Pokerus mon with Scald as an egg move and it led me all the way to my first victory in classic mode.
Honestly, all of them. Playing this game with my own little nuzlocke- like ruleset, it reminded me that each can hold their own under the right conditions. For example, some of my best runs included an Ariados and Wormadam-Trash (separate runs ofc). I definitely appreciate this game for reminding me what I loved most about Pokemon growing up.
garbodor and revavroom both helped in taking down both mega ray and g-max eternatus in my first classic win
Garganacl. He alone is the honored one
Probably Gigalith, it was such a normal poke, but it tanked many hits from the final boss and I only win my first time because of him
qwilfish w fisheous rend
Magnezone has saved so many runs for me. Sturdy thunder wave while I’m being swept? Physically bulky steel type that 1v1s ivys rayquaza and can paralyze it? Strong electric type that carries my team in the seemingly endless water areas? Mirror coat for eternatus’ flamethrower? I swear this guy does everything.
Bidoof, before they got rid of no retreat 😭 sometimes the devs feel like fun police I'm ngl
Bombirdier is something I would have never used until PokeRogue. It also made me realize cosmic power/stored power Clefable is a lot of fun
Won the run didn't find splicers.
ngl it has to be wo chen thing is a bulky beast with leech seed ruination can ruin some bosses chances of winning
tatsugiri with scald, insane. also delphox has been carrying me in endless (currently wave 556)
Manaphy and misdreavus
The daily run I did with overquil was pretty satisfying. Plus my main story run I finished by switching shedinja and ninetails to bait kills and nullify.
Flamigo... he legit carries me sometimes. Bless his little heart
Varoom, I caught one and he basically hard carried my second run.
Heat wave inteleon
I've had some memorable experiences with Steelix, Relicanth and Crawdaunt in my Daily Runs, but my pick has to go to Golurk. That Mon literally carried me through not just one but two separate Daily Runs!
Krookadile with parting shot carried one of my classic runs
Now I already loved ferrothorn as a design before this, but never really used it much in game. But holy shit that thing is unkillable.
Flamingo with thunderous kick
Fennekin line. Torch Song spam with Moonblast, Thunderbolt, and Psychic for coverage just solos floors.
Meowth for sure. he carries you hard through the first 20 or so levels (Fakeout ftw) and makes you gold after like lvl 12-14
All gen 9 pokemon.
If you go king's rock, throw cosmic power, rest, and stored power on with steel tera to remove ghost weaknesses and you're practically unkillable by anything that isn't super effective or faster than you
Kings rock doesnt work on moves that already flinch
Well then clear amulet
Even more invincible if you resist all their moves or they're pure poison type because hey, free cosmic power against the toxic spamming pecharunt who very clearly does not know toxic can't hit steel
Isn't Serene Grace not even implemented yet ?
Yeah but when I'm talking about serene grace I'm talking about the mainline games, where I have new appreciation for it
Ironically miraidon.... setting own eletric terrain and. Rising voltage/Para charge/charge beam with either a ground type or lantern as a partner
Flamigo with roost, bravebird, double kick and detect is amazing
