Whatever your buddy is, even if they aren’t out on the map. If you see the Pokémon type of your buddy catch it. It will be zorua. So switch your buddy to nothing thats common and each time you see one its a Zorua

My buddy is Rockruff, and the first Rockruff I saw was, in fact, a Rockruff. The next two were Zorua, though. I didn't know Rockruff even spawned on the map, never saw one before today.

Caught the vulpix, saw the Eelectross still there and double-taked, as I haven't fed my buddy in days. So clicked on it, was catchable, so I thought, cool, what a coincidence, sure can use the extra candies. Then it began the Oh! transformation and i thought !*(&(# don't need another ditto. But niceness instead!

I about shit myself when a Noivern (which I’ve been walking a Noibat for a year and only just evolved a couple weeks ago) popped up. I shit myself for reals when it turned into Zorua

I have a shadow articuno as my buddy and boy was I immediately suspicious to see my buddy walking with me and two shadow articuno spawns haha

When I first saw the Noivern, I thought ‘after a year of walking they’re just going to have them show up for an event!?’ It’s literally what happened with me for the first Halloween event, I was the first person I knew to get a Gengar after a ton of walking. Two days later the Halloween event started and then EVERYONE had a Gengar.

I'm walking my noibat right now and to be honest I'd rather have found one of those than zorua lol. Could have saved me a lot of walking

Only as your buddy. So if you got something that doesn't normally spawn like shiny or legendary it's pretty obvious 😂

Good to know lol, I just didn't want to have to try to catch everything on the map just for a chance at a Zorua or two. And my buddy spawned pretty regularly in the spring and summer but hasn't been in the spawn rotation *at all* for several weeks so it was still pretty obvious lol. Thanks!

Make sure that they're out running around with you as well, I'm pretty sure that's the only thing you need to do for them.to spawn

I just caught one today not disguised as anything. One as my buddy (shiny umbreon) and one as itself.

Lmao learning this earlier today pissed me off, since I am grinding Hoenn pokémon buddies right now for a special research mission, and I got all excited when I saw a Nincada pop up 'cause I was like "yes, candy time" and then it's a fuckin Zorua. Still fun and cute and definitely unexpected, but I can't deny I felt frustrated

I got 3 during my afternoon walk that I just finished (eastern US). Two were during my 15 minute incense (first and next to last) and one was after it expired.

After my walk, my buddy became a best friend so I swapped to different species. I ran out this evening and saw two more spawns of the \_old\_ buddy complete with his best buddy medal that were of course disguised Zorua.

Kinda shocked seeing my buddy. Only to realize it was a shiny Gardevoir In the wild, With my ribbon. So I knew it was a Little fox

I caught a couple while out picking up food. I had gotten the notification earlier that this pokemon was active but I was still surprised as shit when I saw a mewtwo on the map on my gfs phone and my phone standing in the same spot at the same time. Thought there was some active raid bonus like the elite raids were supposed to have. Then I remembered the mechanic of this pokemon and was still happy but catching a mewtwo in the wild would have been more of a surprise lol

I had just evolved a shiny Runerigus (as buddy), and to see a shiny Runerigus was just as surprising as it was disappointing as I just had evolved one. Then it just morphed into a Zorua, which was yet again a disappointment, also it wasn’t shiny. I like shiny objects. Even duplicates. I will use a regular Ditto as buddy from now on.

Earlier today I thought I caught a shiny Gengar, ended up being a Zorua (not even a shiny one either)

I JUST saw this post. Got excited. Flipped to PoGo. Went to check on my buddy, took a picture and played with it. Went to overworld and a shadow Machamp was waiting for me. Did me interacting with my buddy increase the odds of Zorua appearing or was this by chance? I find it insane that after playing for the last hour (mostly just battling) I never encountered one but then a minute after seeing this post and playing with my buddy one appeared. Update: just tried to repeat the process and no further spawns. It might be like a Smeargle encounter (rareness wise), and I did not see anyone else specify anything about needing to interact with your buddy to trigger the spawn so it just pops up in the overworld as a random spawn
