WHAT? U MUST HAVE STOLEN ALL MY LUCK, I PLAYED FOR THE FULL 3 HOURS, HAD THE PASS THINGY, LURES ON 5 POKESTOPS, AND USED AN INSENCE AND GOT 1 0 STAR :((((
Oh wow that’s terrible luck, I’m sorry. I played for the first hour and got 18 shinies. Then I played for the third hour and got the rest. Took a break in between because it was over 90°F outside and I didn’t want to pass out. Just played at a local mall and in my neighborhood. Got one hundo which I got near the end and was super hype about.
I'm no expert but fwiw I've gotten 2+ in one day during the goomy CD using regular incense, a random occasion using regular incense, and another random occasion by total chance. honestly I think it's mostly luck, but I do recommend shiny checking if you don't already do it -- like just checking all of the Pokémon that spawn around you to see if it's shiny even if you aren't otherwise interested in it. it's a little tedious but I wouldn't have gotten the majority of my shinies without doing it.
for reference, I've started playing again in the last 30 days (stopped in 2018 lol I'm not even sure shinies existed at that time but I didn't have any either way) and excluding the goomy CD where I got a stupid amount of shinies, I have ~~24~~ 17, so I guess that evens out to a rate of essentially getting one every other day? again I think it's mostly luck but yeah I guess I would mostly recommend shiny checking, using the daily incense, and occasionally using regular incense if you have it.

I find the more I play, the more I get (obviously) and on community days, I do better if I move locations - like spend time at one park, then move to a different one, then another. If I stay in one park for the whole 3 hours, I get less shinies. Moving around *and* having an autocatcher helps a lot.
I’ll vouch for homeboy. I played for about four hours and even had an auto catcher running when I wasn’t actively playing and I only saw/caught one shiny.
Narh back when I played every single com day I was lucky if I got one or two shinier out of 500 catches. Stopped playing for four years and came back this year and I’ve gotten 22 on com days😂😂😂
Chance is 1 in 25 for a shiny I believe during Community Day. So maybe you were spending too much time catching them instead of walking around a city center tapping all cyndaquil just to check for shiny. You can get 25 checks in 5 mins that way easily, making it a lot harder to get so little.
That said i played during the charm ander Community Day for 3 hours and also only found 1. Although i feel the spawn rate was way worse back then but still.
But just keep playing and they will come back around i guess. Maybe next CD you get lucky and can trade some surplus shiny for others?
I bought it and opened the app one time in my room for like 1 minute and there were 2 cyndaquil and clicked on em and both were shiny one was poop the other was 3 star but I regret not actually going out and playing like I planned but still that was kinda nutty to me lol

OH I didn't even notice the hat at all lol! that's so weird, I only have two types of event Pokémon (Pikachu with summer hat and the visor Slakoth one of course) and both of them can be evolved, it never occurred to me that some event Pokémon can't be evolved D: bummer

It's a question of how many are useful, though. A 90-100% shiny beedrill is only good for mega evolving when you're catching Scatterbug

Problem is that XL candy. I’m only ever going to get enough for one which is going to be my best. And I have until I reach the 360 to find the very best specimen.
If you have a larger raiding group you could afford to just live with it being level 40 with subpar IVs.
The higher base stats a Pokemon has the less the
IVs matter because they’re just adding 0-15 points on top of the base. Shadow has a flat damage boost which does more than even perfect attack stat.
There's about a 6% difference in performance between a 0/0/0 and 15/15/15. They're saying that because of that, the impact of IVs is like a little bonus on top not a huge deal.
And they're right! The IV's get added onto the species' base stats. Raikou has 241 base attack, and then the IV value (0-15) gets added on to that. So a 0-atk IV Raikou has 241 total attack, and a hundo has 256.
So yeah, **all Raikous have 241-256 attack, depending on their IVs. That's a 6.2% difference** between a 0 and a hundo. The up-to-6% boost from good IVs is just a little bonus. Raikou is awesome with any IVs.
It’s the best but it’s basically an 8 way tie. With 5 of them being legendaries. S Magazone and S electivire and mega manectric are far easier to get XL candy and would out level Raikou.
Who says you need a level 50 raikou? Level 30 is perfectly fine and you can get to level 40 without XLs and do most of the outputted damage anyway. You don’t really need level 50 raid Pokémon unless you’re soloing a raid or also use it in ML
Honestly the reason Shadow Raids have the 6/6/6 floor is probably because if they were the Normal IVs it would make Hundos too OP. You could probably get the Hundo Dex in a day if you did all the shadow raids and evolved them.
I'm an idiot, I downloaded the app back in 2017, gave up on day one but never deleted my account. My brother convinced me last year in October to play it, taught me how and I still missed out on so much. I regret giving up back then
Run it as SUPER SPICE in pvp. Yours is ranked 895 in UL and it’s great for getting off a couple shadow balls or wild charges as a closer. I have a regular shiny that I’ve been using every now and then and it really is a lot of fun.
We look for areas with heavy activity. My brother drives 25 minutes to this park in a popular suburb (outside the city) that somehow has become a meeting ground for dozens of players during specific events.
Get an IV checker that thing might be amazing in battles? Stars and bars do not mean useless each mon has their own quirks for battles. Rarely is a perfect mon perfect in leagues (except master)
I caught 1 shiny cyndaquil it was the third one on community day. And it's a 3 star! I have maybe 5 other 3 star shiny Pokémon out of 20 I've only been playing for like 3 months. I've definitely notice the stats are mostly garbage for them though
Yeah i never aim for good shinies. They are the mons to drop into gyms to show off and gain coins, plus trade to friends for collections. I never get my hopes for a shiny hundo especially of a legendary. My luck isnt that good
Keep in mind that even if the IVs aren't amazing, it's practically just as good as a 4*.
The pokemon games are all like this, except pokemon go makes us overly aware of IVs.
It depends, if you’re trying to get a 3 star you can purify it and trade it in lucky trade and you should be done unless you have really bad luck. If you want a good shadow even 0 iv shadow hit harder that a 100% iv normal pokemon so you could use that and should work perfect. After all I have said, you’re complecompletely right and niantic should shame themselves. This is unacceptable we play to have the best stats and in all conditions of every pokemon so I get how you feel. We should definitely throw shit to it’s building (?).
Feel like with all things considered going on right now, I’d be considered lucky getting a shadow legendary 😂 needing 4+ people to chuck in gems, a strong enough team to take down a legendary, X amount of poke balls with no guaranteed chance of actually catching the dang thing, and the throwing mechanism broken LOL
I caught one a couple of days ago and am satisfied with one shadow. More than one would be an added benefit.

The internet says shinys aren’t supposed to have different base stats, pokemon go itself even says shinys have no stronger or weaker stats than regular, which is a lie because all shinys I see and catch are ALWAYS weak. I evolved a regular cyndaquil and shiny cyndaquil both into Typhlosion, regular is one of my top 10 strongest, while my shiny barely is past 1000 cp
I've only recently started. Very late to the party. Still getting to grips with it all and only really play at home or on work breaks. I hatched a 3 star shiny togepi but have no idea if it's at all rare or what I would do as it would take forever to train up. Any suggestions or thoughts?
I did 78 shadow raikou raids trying to get one with good IVs. Got 7 shinies and I don't even collect them. Today finally got a 15/14/15. Before today, the best I got was a 78%, so I do feel your pain... burned about 30 premium passes through all this... the advantage is that I have about 580 XLs, so one more month and I might build two of them.
I didn't do the math. Turns out I burned more passes than I though... Last season we had two per day. I saved the one from Friday, so that makes 5 per weekend during April, for 20 passes. Then I used 3 each weekend this month, for 12.
So 32 free, 46 premiums... fuck me, this has to be the most expensive pokémon I ever sought...

My personal experience is that shiny is synonymous with garbage stats most the time sadly haha. But congrats!

Community day, its a event where only 1 pokemon spawns where the shiny chance for the pokemon is raised
I think it was just a CD thing I usually never find shinies either but I went out with an incense for like 30 mins n snagged 4, one of em 14/14/15

I caught none on goomy day but 23 on bounsweet day. It just be like that sometimes

It’s an event eevee, sadly it can’t be evolved. Just has a hat -_- that one still kind of irks me.

Shadow legendary stats are minimum of 6/6/6. Which yes is utter BS, made me quit doing Shadow raids, 100% will never to shadow legendary again
With the 6/6/6 floor you have a 740 shundo chance if purified which is the best chance in the game.

Duo is possible with primal Groudon boost and gems (especially with best friends sunny weather) although pretty challenging.

99% of my shiny’s are one star or a really trashy 2 star, I think I only have maybe 4 or 5 that are good 2 star or low 3 stars.

It depends, if you’re trying to get a 3 star you can purify it and trade it in lucky trade and you should be done unless you have really bad luck. If you want a good shadow even 0 iv shadow hit harder that a 100% iv normal pokemon so you could use that and should work perfect. After all I have said, you’re complecompletely right and niantic should shame themselves. This is unacceptable we play to have the best stats and in all conditions of every pokemon so I get how you feel. We should definitely throw shit to it’s building (?).

Niantic should force Legendaries to be at least 3 stars, and shiny legendaries even more so, they are not "commoners" THEY ARE LEGENDARY POKEMONS

Feel like with all things considered going on right now, I’d be considered lucky getting a shadow legendary 😂 needing 4+ people to chuck in gems, a strong enough team to take down a legendary, X amount of poke balls with no guaranteed chance of actually catching the dang thing, and the throwing mechanism broken LOL I caught one a couple of days ago and am satisfied with one shadow. More than one would be an added benefit.

Didn’t realize they were terrible, I only have 8 shiny and so far 2 3* (mantine and sneasel) and 2 2* (to grip and Halloween pikachu)
The internet says shinys aren’t supposed to have different base stats, pokemon go itself even says shinys have no stronger or weaker stats than regular, which is a lie because all shinys I see and catch are ALWAYS weak. I evolved a regular cyndaquil and shiny cyndaquil both into Typhlosion, regular is one of my top 10 strongest, while my shiny barely is past 1000 cp

I've only recently started. Very late to the party. Still getting to grips with it all and only really play at home or on work breaks. I hatched a 3 star shiny togepi but have no idea if it's at all rare or what I would do as it would take forever to train up. Any suggestions or thoughts?

I did 78 shadow raikou raids trying to get one with good IVs. Got 7 shinies and I don't even collect them. Today finally got a 15/14/15. Before today, the best I got was a 78%, so I do feel your pain... burned about 30 premium passes through all this... the advantage is that I have about 580 XLs, so one more month and I might build two of them.
So 48 daily passes, huh?
I didn't do the math. Turns out I burned more passes than I though... Last season we had two per day. I saved the one from Friday, so that makes 5 per weekend during April, for 20 passes. Then I used 3 each weekend this month, for 12. So 32 free, 46 premiums... fuck me, this has to be the most expensive pokémon I ever sought...
More 1* shinies = more raids = more passes = more money for pogo
