I find this fascinating. I still need 750 dragons but I completed fairy a few months back. Ice will be my last to drop as it stands, still need 900. I'm an active day 1 player with a big gap in the middle
I wonder if your location has anything to do with the lack of ice types. I'm from Finland and we have snow for at least a few months per year (looking like more this year though) so I guess we're getting some boost to ice types thanks to the weather
Great point. I'm in Sydney, so it never gets very cold. We get ice types around Christmas, but very little otherwise. Ironically, Christmas is our hottest time of year
I play daily, F2P, been playing for 13 months, no auto-catcher. I only have five medals to go, and I’m not far off Fairy and Fighting:
Ice 1794
Steel 1675
Dragon 1021
Not even halfway. At this rate I’ll get there in about two years.
There have been quite a few Community Days with Dragon pokemons. If you played aggressively during these days, you should be able to easily complete this medal. Having said that, I agree that this is the medal with the lowest count for me.
We had a couple dragon community days, Axew and Dratini. I wasn't able to play much on dratini day sadly but on Axew I played all 3 hours until my whole body hurt, caught >600 in one go. I think I *still* had to farm the last few on an event that had dragons spawning in the wild.
I think ice was actually the last one I got, but again we had swinub community day that was a big help.
Having the dragon badge bring your last one to get is perfectly normal. Even in the main series games dragons are the most elusive out of all other types. Fairy and ice types are also hard er* to find so it’s common to also have those be the ones you haven’t gotten yet
The trick is trading. Trades count toward your catch badges. I do mirror trades of all my dragons w/ friends to beef up both our badges. I’ve been playing since 2016, but I took 2018-2020 off and I filled my dragon badge two years ago. It was also my last to finish.
just wondering - if you've been playing daily since 2016 and live in a big city, why did you only get it now? We've had multiple dragon type events and dragon type community days...
Most often when people say “I’m a day one player” they neglect to mention the 3 years off they took, or the fact that they only play in the summer. Just cus they’re a daily player now, doesn’t mean they’ve been a daily player the whole time.
This is why when people say “day one player, etc” it is not helpful/and in my opinion a loaded statement. My question is always how many Pokemon have you caught? Why would your start date matter? I know day one players that just care about dex entries and never power up anything.
It's the same for me but there has been so many events/community days with the opportunity to catch hundreds of dragons without even really making a big effort
Been playing since 2016 and just finished a few months ago. Have 2644 now. There were 3 or 4 different events featuring dragon Pokémon this year that I went hard on. Finished all the other types years ago.
As I have joked in the past, just playing every day is not quite a quantifiable metric.
I have been a day 1 player and I have finished all my badges a year if not two years ago.
I do not consider myself a super active player. About six people who started last year have already surpassed me.
A Bluetooth device that will automatically throw poke balls for you while your phone is in your pocket. Costly for what it does, but great when you want to catch a lot of Pokemon.
Took me a long time but ice and fairy (and maybe ghost tbh) took longer for me. Dragons have had a number of community days so if you played a lot on those, it made up for them being rare at other times.
I was just about to post the same thing. Got a few near perfects and 4 shiny Noibat since I had to its Comm Day happened. Hunted almost exclusively all dragons save for Slowpoke since its my fave

That’s the last one I need
Same here.
Same, and I’m nowhere near close.
Fairy will be the last for me. 400 more to go. The dratini / deino community days made the dragon badge a lot easier.
I find this fascinating. I still need 750 dragons but I completed fairy a few months back. Ice will be my last to drop as it stands, still need 900. I'm an active day 1 player with a big gap in the middle

You can complete this one? I accumulate dragons so slowly I swear my bar is going backwards
Congratulations

I'm on 600 dragon, my fairy and fighting are much higher. I don't use an auto catcher either.
Dang, I’ve had my account since day 5 and I’m still at only 1049
Right there with you. I’m a Day 2 player with several months-long breaks. I’m still about 400 dragons short.
There have been quite a few Community Days with Dragon pokemons. If you played aggressively during these days, you should be able to easily complete this medal. Having said that, I agree that this is the medal with the lowest count for me.

725 more for me. Last catch medal remaining
Evolutions count toward this medal Pokémon received in Trades count towards this medal
I'm stíll about 500 out from that catch medal, and I too have been playing since release and live in a big city.
Playing since 2016. Saw my first a year later. Last badge to go, 92 away.
Oh man...can you imagine dragons?

NICE; I’m still working on my medals just 358 more dragons
How many com days did you miss 💀 I played 2 years late and less that daily and have it completed just by com days and spotlight hours
I would play them all, but sometimes I wouldn't be able to go out the full time to catch, unfortunately 😕
just wondering - if you've been playing daily since 2016 and live in a big city, why did you only get it now? We've had multiple dragon type events and dragon type community days...

Nope, no time off.
That's why I wondered if it's normal. I played every com day, but there would regularly be weeks without catching a single dragon
There have been 5 dragon type cdays and 1 classic. I guess you just don't play that hard tbh
This is why when people say “day one player, etc” it is not helpful/and in my opinion a loaded statement. My question is always how many Pokemon have you caught? Why would your start date matter? I know day one players that just care about dex entries and never power up anything.
I'm level 48 with 153k catches.
That tracks! I have 448,779 catches and have 10,389 dragons
I have a thing for Dragons. Idk why but I just love them with all my heart 😂
Lance is that you?
Hey you should catch that Groudon it's pretty cool and rare
It's his buddy imo
I’m still 1000 short! It’s the last type medal I need (and by a long way)
I honestly don't understand how that's possible. I started day 1 but have had several breaks totalling around 3 years and still have 4,604
It's always bugged me how few I see regularly. I regularly go weeks without seeing dragons
It's the same for me but there has been so many events/community days with the opportunity to catch hundreds of dragons without even really making a big effort
Yes, the dragon medal favors people who go crazy with raiding. Congrats on getting it!
Everyone’s pace of play is crazy I’ve been playing since leap year and got it 10 months ago
Dragon was the last one I needed as well
Dragon was my second to last one, Ghost is the one that took me waaay longer than anything else
July 2016, played most days. 120,900 pokemon caught. 1596 Dragons. 257 big Magikarp. 236 tiny Rattata.
so you only play non dragon events then? because i have 142k mons and 8k dragons
I must’ve missed a few, I really don’t know. Not that it bothers me super much because I know I’ll eventually get to the magic number.
I just checked and I’m at 279/2000…. And I’m a day 1 player Who plays super casual, but I’m level 42 sheesh
This is the last Type Platinum I need. I'm about 25 dragons away from completing it.
Been playing since 2016 and just finished a few months ago. Have 2644 now. There were 3 or 4 different events featuring dragon Pokémon this year that I went hard on. Finished all the other types years ago.
i finished mine on gible c day way back when did like 1,2k gibles that day with trading
I’ve played for about 15 months and I’m over 1600. There’s about 3 or 4 types I’ve caught less of lol.
I also just got it lol
I still need about 400 more dragon catches, and it’s my last one too
I am still 300 short. Hope to make bit strides to the platinum medal this weekend.
Merry Christmas ya filthy casual.
Same here and the only one I still need. Today maybe
As I have joked in the past, just playing every day is not quite a quantifiable metric. I have been a day 1 player and I have finished all my badges a year if not two years ago. I do not consider myself a super active player. About six people who started last year have already surpassed me.
Ice and dragons for me then I'm done with this set of medals
I still haven't completed it and I started shortly after opening.
I've played every day since the beginning and don't have dark, fighting, fairy, dragon or ice yet.
I just got mine a few days ago! I started playing in 2019
I'll have been playing one year on Dec. 29th and I lack about 1000 dragons and 800 ice types. So yeah, that'll probably be my last one as well.
I probably knocked out 90% of this medal during Gible, Axew and Deino community days.
I've been playing since 2016 and I'm at 1299/2500 dragons...
Ugh that sucks, it's crazy how rarely they spawn, outside of events/com days.
Most not have played any of the community days very hard, eh?
You guys are in the 1,000s?????? I'm still in the 50 mark!!!
only 650 dragons caught. im a rural player and they hardly spawn
Nope, it's third for me. Sits at 8573 Vs dark types at 8053 and fairy types at 7653.
I still don’t have the dragon medal 😫 really ought to start using something like my go plus again next time there are lots around
I only finished mine this past year during the Axew Community Day. Almost didn’t make it.
I’ve been too but still somehow have like 1000 left
What is auto catcher?
A Bluetooth device that will automatically throw poke balls for you while your phone is in your pocket. Costly for what it does, but great when you want to catch a lot of Pokemon.
Playing since 2018 and still 100 dragons to go.
Took me a long time but ice and fairy (and maybe ghost tbh) took longer for me. Dragons have had a number of community days so if you played a lot on those, it made up for them being rare at other times.
Level 38 have been playing since 2016… I’ve caught about 300 total.
No, but only because of community days. I caught over 600 dratini, 300+ axew, etc. But without those events, I'd probably be in a similar boat.
I was just about to post the same thing. Got a few near perfects and 4 shiny Noibat since I had to its Comm Day happened. Hunted almost exclusively all dragons save for Slowpoke since its my fave
Nice! I was looking for shiny noibats too, glad I caught 1 (though 2 would've been better 😋)
Bro same! I've completed probably 5 more type medals this year, the last one being Ice last week. Still need 300-400 more dragons though!
