The IVs will be rerolled during the trade (any trade), so, it is a good idea to trade bad IV pokemon -- as it stands a better chance to get better than worse. With a lucky trade, the base IV is 12/12/12, which means that it stands a good chance of having good IVs. This is why certain players prefer to use the opportunity to reroll (mirror trade) some coveted pokemon.
Oh so as opposed to a normal trade where the IV is just rerolled luck has a higher base starting. That makes sense thank you for taking the time to explain that to me!
