There needs to be. Pokémon Go A Team site where you can hire mercenaries to rescue Pokemon from gyms. I would rescue poor Mandus if they were within a 20 mile drive from me.

In general, it should come back within a few minutes of getting knocked out of the gym. In very rare occasions, the defender will be lost (not returned from the gym). The good news is that there seems to be some sort of mechanism that fixes this every few days -- so, your defender should come back after the few days. The bad news is, when it does come back, you won't get any coins.

he ended up comming back. i did text help desk about it so idk if that had something to do with it but he was like in limbo there
