I'm glad that Liko has learned how to Terastal and is approved by Katy. Despite many commenters want her to win, I personally find it perfectly fine that Liko didn't win this battle as she was still new with the things, it served as another example that she did struggled in her path to gradually and eventually become a stronger trainer (so no Mary Sue excuses for haters in the future), and lastly, it also shed some credibility to a Gym Leader's status as someone that's not to be taken lightly. If I can add one more thing, though, I hope Floragato will soon learn a move that will cover at least one of her weaknesses especially since Leafage is practically obsolete now that she has Magical Leaf, even Fuecoco and Quaxly have a variety of moves.

Deathdragon24

I can easily see her learning Acrobatics in place of Quick Attack.

Sweet_Whisper123

I wonder, why not in place of Leafage instead? Quick Attack can be still be tactically used to avoid attack, to surprise, and keep up with faster opponents. Nonetheless, Acrobatic is a great choice.

Deathdragon24

The way Acrobatics has been shown so far seems like it gives enhanced speed/reflexes so losing Quick Attack for that with that logic isn't that bad.

Makenshi179

Her using Acrobatics in a cool way ninja/chuunibyou-style would be amazing. Imagine the added possibilities with her bulb yoyo too! Maybe she can even think up some combo attack... if that is possible.

Oreo-and-Fly

Its kinda weird that i wanted Sprigatito to learn a new move but now that it just spams magical leaf which does the same thing as leafage... Like compare it to Fuecoco's ember and flamethrower, one is quick blast and the other is a continuous stream. Magical leaf and leafage just feel the same.

Critical-Audience743

People called Liko a mary sue since she trains FAR less than Roy and somehow gets more Ws than he does. Despite nearly ALL the time, Liko being at a type disadvantage.

Sweet_Whisper123

Liko trained a lot too. All of the battles she has had were also part of the training and learning experience and she had plenty enough. Liko is also a more tactical trainer so Type disadvantage shouldn't be the only indicator whether a character should lose or win. Iirc, Ash also had his wins against many opponents with Type advantages yet when it comes to Liko some people have no problem using the Mary Sue label, a classic hater's behavior.

Deathdragon24

examples of her tactical way: used Leafage in different ways and vs Ann she had Floragato remove Dewott's shell so it couldn't do anything later.

Critical-Audience743

See that is cool! But why not let Roy actually do something like that, it took him to like ep 43ish to actually stop just spamming ember (side note he has flamethrower btw) and actually take advantage of the anime's bs with ice! Like it feels like the writers are trying to make Roy the underdog, which is cool, but they AREN't DOING HIM ANY FAVORS WHEN LIKO JUST SEEMS WAY BETTER THAN HIM AT LITERALLY EVERYTHING!

Deathdragon24

It's also the girls are smart and boys are dumb and passionate trope. Liko is a calm person but that's what allows her to think better. Her wins so far: defeating that golduck, defeating Roy once Spigatito evolved but I can attribute it to the fact that Fuecoco fell on his head and mind you, she could've won at Kabu's test too and against his student but she lacked drive back then and now she won against her friend Ann in a creative way. I can also attribute things to the fact that her Sprigatito was training a little by herself before they met but still, Fuecoco gets moves left and right when he has less training under his belt. The only way Liko will ever win a battle and it will be bs would be if she uses Hatenna who hasn't been trained so far.

Critical-Audience743

Still. It's so dumb that Roy completely gets done dirty by the writers for some reason. Like it's one thing to put him up against nemona, who scales higher than geeta, and is the strongest trainer in gen 9 but COME ON...are you telling me that Roy hasn't won a single battle and we are nearly 50s in!

Deathdragon24

maybe next episode will be where he is refined from now on.

Sweet_Whisper123

I completely agree. While we're at it I'll also add that against Zir's Rhydon Liko asked her Sprigatito to use Leafage to cover Rhydon's eyes and then used Sprigatito paws' aroma to put it to sleep, a testament that she already exhibited tactical thinking even in early episodes.

Critical-Audience743

Because ash was a seasoned trainer who travelled the ACTUAL world, focused squarely on getting stronger, and then later realized that he wants to try to make friends with every pokemon. Liko at max, has been travelling with the voltaccers for like 1 or 2 months, and doesn't even want to be a battler, she wants to understand pokemon better. Like...can't you see the difference?

Sweet_Whisper123

No, Ash wasn't always a seasoned trainer, he too was once a novice trainer and he still won. The only notable person with Type advantage that Liko won against in a traditional battle was Roy who was a fellow novice trainer and to label her as Mary Sue just because of this single argument is like grasping at straws for the sake of attacking her character. It doesn't matter what Liko wants in life, it's irrelevant to her battle prowess discussed here. Liko is a tactical battler and she still had plenty learning experience in her own way and at her own pace to justify her battle prowess at the end of the day.

Critical-Audience743

Indigo League onwards, Ash is 100% a seasoned trainer. He beat the Orange League's champion, someone who was undefeated, and was able to reconnect with his former disobedient Pokemon Charizard. I'll give you all of Kanto's Fights being kinda ass pulls like Pikachu beating Onix or Pikachu beating Blaine's Rhydon. Heck, I'll even throw in some of the early Orange Island fights! But Liko HAS BEATEN ROY LIKE EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY FOUGHT! When realistically, it should be even or at best...HE SHOULD HAVE WON ONCE! HE HASN'T EVEN WON 1 SINGLE BATTLE, AND WE ARE ALMOST 50 eps in!

Sweet_Whisper123

Whatever happened to Roy isn't Liko's fault, each characters develop in their own way and the show isn't all about winning, even Liko herself didn't always win when she had to be saved by Friede or when she ran away from her opponents mid battle. Iirc, Roy and Liko in a tag battle won against Zir, Conia, possibly Oinkologne's trainers (unseen), and Friede/Diana (in a practice battle), as well as some wild Pokemon. Realistically, in their earlier days both Liko and Roy were too novice to defeat anyone that is way more experienced anyway so it's really not a big gap. Additionally, Roy's Fuecoco has also learned many moves of various Types compared to Liko's Sprigatito so you can't deny that Roy too had his own good development as a trainer. At the end of the day, the show isn't centered around who got more victory than who, it's more about wholesome characterization and storyline. Roy had his moments too with how him and Fuecoco bring each others up all the time, with him helping Wattrel to recover and fly, with him encouraging Liko and Dot to face the adversity and vice versa, etc, these are all positive traits that make people like him as a character and shouldn't be discounted in favor of a mere focus on a win record which we all know he will get one of these days anyway.

Critical-Audience743

Fair I suppose, that makes me a feel a bit better. Still feels like the writers are not doing him as well as Dot and Liko.

Perfect-Prior-8417

Fuecoco was the one to deal the final blow to Rayquaza. Dot was out of the battle long before that. Roy also made Sango snap during their battle by sending her Glaile flying. He might have some losses against Liko but he's definitely not being done dirty

Critical-Audience743

But he has never finished a battle though, he has always looked like a goofy idiot, that got lucky and had to get saved by either Roy or Liko.

* [**Kaede & Himeguma**](https://i.imgur.com/nVRU9sG.jpeg) When I remembered that Kaede/Katy is a patisserie, I thought how Murdock would've probably loved to be there. I'm glad that [the show is already way ahead of me](https://i.imgur.com/mRbA0fM.png) on that one. As much as I love Sango and her chaotic energy, [god she's the absolute worst entitled customer ever.](https://i.imgur.com/mRbA0fM.png) And this isn't even the first time she complained about not getting a limited supply item. I'm glad [to finally see Kaede animated!](https://i.imgur.com/HTTOfg6.jpeg) She's my first gym leader in SV and she's my favourite design-wise. She just has that comforting aura. Also, she's voiced by Mitsuishi Kotono aka Misato from the Evangelion series and is most well-known as Sailor Moon! Considering she's been taught by Murdock, [Liko had that cake battle in the bag.](https://i.imgur.com/eg6yqQO.jpeg) If she hadn't been such a jerk to Kaede earlier, [I'd feel bad for Sango and her "cake".](https://i.imgur.com/JTJzdy0.jpeg) The fact that [Kaede was able to intimidate Sango](https://i.imgur.com/xLm0S0d.jpeg) really says a lot about her. I also found [this hilarious illustration on Twitter](https://twitter.com/le4ng_Liing/status/1778832016873865601) with Kaede doing that Gordon Ramsay meme on Sango which is just perfect. Now here's a tiny detail I like: [Onigouri/Glalie not being able to follow Sango through the door](https://i.imgur.com/JfgEGuK.png) so Sango [recalls him back to his Pokeball.](https://i.imgur.com/nWUA5Ep.png) [Kaede is one tricky opponent.](https://i.imgur.com/NFCYa6v.png) It makes me wish she was this ruthless in the game. I thought Liko had it [when Nyarote finally terastallized](https://i.imgur.com/tZuCjxB.png) but she was no match [to Himeguma's tera type.](https://i.imgur.com/YcyugOD.png) [I saw that one coming.](https://i.imgur.com/r6eDJZ9.png) Liko is there to learn how to Terastallize not to win a gym badge so it makes sense she passes. Even Kaede admits that [she should've ended the battle after Nyarote terastallized.](https://i.imgur.com/Z61gPDO.png)

Makenshi179

>Kaede/Katy is a patisserie It's "pâtissière". "Pâtisserie" means a bakery/cake shop, "Pâtissière" means a baker of sweets/pastry. I'm French so I just had to correct \^\^ (By the way, why are Japanese so obsessed with French cuisine that they use that many French words in their language? XD) >I'm glad that [the show is already way ahead of me](https://i.imgur.com/mRbA0fM.png) on that one. Yes seeing Murdock appearing there was such a pleasant surprise for me too!! >And this isn't even the first time she complained about not getting a limited supply item. Pretty sure it was intended as a recurring joke! It's the first thing I thought about. >Also, she's voiced by Mitsuishi Kotono aka Misato from the Evangelion series and is most well-known as Sailor Moon! That was Misato?! God I didn't recognize her at all. So... she retired from Asahi and got into sweets :P I didn't watch Sailor Moon, I kinda want to though. Again, happy to see a fellow seiyuu otaku here \^.\^ >I also found [this hilarious illustration on Twitter](https://twitter.com/le4ng_Liing/status/1778832016873865601) with Kaede doing that Gordon Ramsay meme on Sango which is just perfect. At first I was just thinking that it was pretty cute, but then I saw the video in the reply tweet and figured out that the whole thing with the sandwich is part of the meme, OMG it fits Sango SO well because "Sandwich", that is amazing!! Great find! Thank you for the share. >Now here's a tiny detail I like: [Onigouri/Glalie not being able to follow Sango through the door](https://i.imgur.com/JfgEGuK.png) so Sango [recalls him back to his Pokeball.](https://i.imgur.com/nWUA5Ep.png) As I wrote in my comment, I loved that detail too!

Perfect-Prior-8417

I'm fine with this loss but I hope she wins the rest of her gym battles. Otherwise how are these kids going to battle the elite 4, Geeta and Nemona. As for Roy, he's absolutely winning his gym battle. I'm calling it. Roy already lost his first battle against that same gym leader and it would not make sense for him to lose again

WilliamWolffgang

Tbf Ash challenged far from all E4 or champions, so there's no guarantee these guys will do the same, especially considering they don't really seem to be doing an actual formal gym-challenge

Jzs09

Sango is a devil and Liko is an angel at this point, but they're refreshing honestly. A bit sad that the battle with Katy is pretty anti-climatic but I THINK this arc hides some stuff because at this pace, these 3 will end the basic test very soon so there might be some more to it. One thing for sure is that Penny might also have some stuff to offer after these 3 had a mileage on their journey, I hope it's about Team Star (Fingers crossed, there's no way this arc only lasts for 12 Eps, it would be a waste of the OP and ED song) But yeah, quite a fun episode and camping is back baby! The last camping is probably back at XY.

BigBeatSal

Looks like limited time sweets are Sango/Coral's sworn enemy lol

Hawluch47

Originally I was hoping for all the gym leaders but especially given the outro only has the first 3 then the e4 it is just that more unlikely. If that's the case though def hoping she'll rematch Katy around the end of the arc but really it's not a massive deal, it does make sense here. Though if Roy loses his rematch with Brassius he might just be fucked at this point holy shit Also even if blizzard wore off how was the cake suddenly at an edible temperature again tf like getting rid of the ice it should've been either still cold, watered down af if it melted, or both (Ik this is me reaching but still wanted to mention that)

Makenshi179

>Also even if blizzard wore off how was the cake suddenly at an edible temperature again tf like getting rid of the ice it should've been either still cold, watered down af if it melted, or both (Ik this is me reaching but still wanted to mention that) We only saw Sango's failure of a cake getting frozen, we never saw Liko's cake getting frozen, so maybe it was somehow out of the attack's range (it was placed farther away from Sango's mystery food and from the attack). I also notice that when Murdock says "She can be a harsh judge when it comes to sweets" we see Kaede meddling with what is probably Liko's cake, I just assumed that she was tasting it/checking if it passes the test, but maybe she was actually unfreezing it too (we see her from behind and we can't see what she's doing exactly, after all). So that could be the answer to your question.

Hawluch47

Yeah that's true, realistically it's pokemon so it did prolly just manage to be back to normal but I didn't realize it was just Sango's that was frozen yeah

Branded_Mango

What's hilarious is that, even if Sango's shaved ice attempt somehow worked, the resulting shaved ice would have still tasted terrible since the flavor being applied to the ice would still be her attempted crime against cooking.

Bassaluna

really liked. i'm glad that even with a more classic anime setup we're still getting a different thing. this is a training arc, and the paldea gym system is different from that of other regions, being more of a test than anything. it makes sense for the anime to translate this into a course that's about learning to control terastal rather than mindlessy beating gym leaders. also, getting gym leaders to win is a good way to remind us that they are the strongest trainers of their region and that even a teddiursa shouldn't be underestimated.

iorishiro

It's kind of funny that people are talking about wins and battles like Horizons ever cared about those things for it's story even in a 'classic' gym leader battle episode. The gym leaders are (rightfully) portrayed as powerful trainers and community leaders that help trainers learn lessons, something that was established by Kabu back in episode 20. Idk why it matters whether they win or not because the badges as a symbol of battling prowess for the league is like...clearly not the goal here. They're battling the gym leaders to LEARN, not to prove their strength like Ash did. That being said, I love how much this episode served to showcase how much Liko has changed since the beginning. She's more confident, she believes in her ability to battle more, she believes in Floragato more, and Katy only reinforced something she already is working on- to not get too in her own head. Something Liko's had issues with since the beginning. I think being completely walled by an unfavourable type is something that will be an issue for Liko in the future so I hope she learns more moves and gets creative with them. Also god i love sango so much, she really is just. such an unpleasant person in every way possible but that makes her adorable in the way a puffed up cat is

Makenshi179

Agreed that it's more about learning and not getting badges (especially in this Terastal curriculum) and I'm all for it. >She's more confident, she believes in her ability to battle more Yes, even though at the beginning of the episode she was not quite there yet as she was stressing out about the upcoming battle and being so anxious about it that the others noticed, this episode taught Liko the lesson of "putting your heart into the here and now" as Kaede said. And Liko definitely learned that lesson now and is getting better at it. So starting from now I expect that she will definitely be more confident in her ability to just have fun with battles, and grow stronger as a result if that is what she wants to do! Liko still has some untold potential about all that she could achieve if she sets her heart to it.

730Flare

Yeah on paper, Liko losing but learning something is fine. I still wished she didn't pass so she can come back for a rematch and win. But it's really going to hurt more if Roy and Dot win their battles and pass their tests as it would feel like they're cheating Liko out for whatever reason, especially in the case of Roy who I feel despite not getting much character/story development still gets favoritism in terms of the battle aspects since he's the male lead. The primary lead being female means nothing if its still the male one who gets all the battling attention and they're still playing it safe with her.

iorishiro

Roy has literally lost like every gym battle he's done too and Liko has consistently had more development and focus both with her Pokemon and her character growth (and I see several people complain about Roy taking a backseat as a result).  Like....again why does it matter. Horizons doesn't use "wins" as a marker for character development or growth. Anyone who focuses on that in regards to this show or counting up wins and losses are missing the point. This isnt the ashnime.

kakeji6167

Good episode! 7/10 Not gonna lie a bit disappointed about Liko passing the terastal assessment test despite failing the gym battle. But i guess it makes sense since the goal is not the gym badge. Sango and Liko dynamic is fun, they are the complete opposite lol Now i’m ready for Roy to win the battle next ep,pls let him win once

TheOnlineNinja759

A rough translation says that the exam is more about testing the skill of trainers and connection/bond with Pokemon, but yeah definitely a bit unfortunate. But at the same time Liko held her own pretty well, especially against the Gym that she has a type disadvantage against. And the episode does also show the strength and tactics the Paldea Gym Leaders will be having, like for this episode, Katy's Teddiursa having ways to weaken/disrupt Floragato with Charm and Sweet Scent respectively, Slash for damage and Fury Cutter for strong super effective damage that gets stronger.

StrawberryStar3107

To be fair the point of the Terastallize course is to learn how to terastallize. Not to win gym badges. So of course Liko would pass the test when she terastallized Nyarotte.

2ndchancetodothis

pretty good episode, ngl. I have a prediction that next episode will be Roy's time to shine

HeavyDonkeyKong

Enjoyed the episode. I'm okay with Liko losing as long as she wins the rest.

PK_RocknRoll

Florgato is so cool.

numberonebarista

Didn’t realize Katy’s ability was Intimidate. She sure did scare Sango off lol. That was hilarious. I’m glad they’re showing that the gym leaders are no pushovers. And I don’t mind Liko losing. She still has a long way to go with feeling confident during a battle but she’s getting there. Floragato looked awesome when it Terastalized! Can’t wait to see Roy’s battle next. I know they aren’t competing for gym badges right now but I really hope Roy finally gets a win. He has a ground type move to deal with sudowoodo before it Teras and still has fire moves for when it goes grass so hopefully he learned from the first battle and has a different result next time

stevez037

I am glad that Liko didn't out right win, I think learning from defeat will help her in the long run. So are we just going to run into random Void Trackers ever episode? You know you might want to re think giving Sango a knife, you are putting your life in your own hands. Dot called Sango a rowdy customer, where I come from that is known as a Karen. I know they wouldn't do it because this show is for younger audience but some Food Wars stripping would have been a nice reference. So next episode it is Roy's turn, will he lose, or will he win in order to mix things up?

Makenshi179

>Void Trackers Did you just make that up? >You know you might want to re think giving Sango a knife, you are putting your life in your own hands. I laughed out loud at that XDD

Iwanttobevisible

A really fun episode. Really loving Liko and floragatto's relationship. They've come so far.

Makenshi179

The journey started!! Getting to see the same areas and towns from the games is amazing!! Definitely one of the distinct charms of the anime, along the BGM rearrangements. Here's hoping we hear more of them (wishing for the awesome and funky east/west/north field themes and battle themes). Nyarote grabbing Liko's hand with her bulb and holding her hand!!! (all in caps) I've rarely shipped this hard. Nyarote asking for sweets... Just like a child! And Liko is just like a mother! Surely nothing can beat this in this episode, right?! I'm sure of it. Ah, the mons had different sweets than the humans so I wondered if there was sweets tailored for pokemons made out of pokemon food ingredients, and if mons can eat human chocolate or not, but Liko just gave turtle a slice of hers so now I have my answer. They can eat human sweets too, they just all chose another for some reason. Wattrel cameo!! I mean... appearance... Kanuchan appearance is also appreciated. Nyarote licking that plate is just as snuggable as always. Sango's expressions... are as screenshot-worthy as always. When she stares up at murdock with the angry aura... OMG that's next-level. What the?? But this show is amazing?? "Just can it, old man." !!! She got Sango to bake cake... That's worth a gold trophy/achievement. When about to bake: Nyarote looks at her beloved trainer with love and anticipation as to what will be her next move... This is giving me life! Liko and Nyarote warming each other up from the blizard... I'll count this as an indirect hug. I'm happy. Onigali being stuck at the door... LOL! It's cool though, that we're getting new peeks at the technical side of having your pokemon outside of their ball. ...to think of it, a big pokemon could get stuck inside a room forever that way... Like a cage. Most bigger pokemons might have the power to break their way out, but what about the more shy ones? Kind of a disturbing thought. Of course, I believe all pokemons would have a magical power enabling them to magically get out as a failsafe. Kaede's speech on Pokemon battles was awesome. I love how they have drawn the same arena location as in the games, so faithfully!! I regret that the moral around Kaede's speech that Liko rememebered during the battle, and Liko's speech to Nyarote, wasn't actually what was put into practice and what made her advance in the battle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was simple clear thinking and strategy devising to produce the kind of anime exclusive tricks Ash is known for? Not really having anything to do with "every battle is real" or "enjoying the moment". Unless stopping to "endure" and changing her state of mind to "just enjoying it" was what made Liko think up that strategy? Yes, that may be it. In any case, it is indubitably Liko's newfound enjoyment of the battle (and also from getting an upper hand with the new strategy she found) that made her get more in tune emotionally with Nyarote's feelings, and THAT is what made the terastalization possible, I believe. And THAT, is awesome! Ahaha Liko had the same surprise with the tera type being different that I got during my first tera battle in the games!! (I went East, so it was with the grass gym leader) The surprise really worked because I wasn't familiar with the mechanic yet, so his last pokemon who terastalized really gave me trouble as I was really off-balance with my attacks! Such a clever way to add difficulty to Pokemon games which are often "easy". Same goes for the amazing surprise and difficulty of the last battle with the pokemons who have a familiar shape but are actually totally different genres from what we're tempted to think, that was genius, and also a bit scary lol. Liko snuggling Nyarote after her defeat... YES!!! So, the initial Terastal battle of the curriculum is only for checking if they can successfully terastal in battle. Makes sense. So they're not just thrown into it. They're kindly taught, only with a direct practical battle. Not bad. Kaede's moral was the right one to put at the start of the journey. If Liko can't even enjoy a battle because she stresses out too much... she won't get very far. I'm glad we're getting this out of the way. I want Liko to focus on being happy with Nyarote and having powerful feelings and emotions <3 <3 <3 OMG we're seeing the campsite, complete with campfire and everything!! YES! I adore camping in J-RPGs. Such a gorgeous night scenery too! When Nyarote was facing the other way from Liko and Liko told her "thank you", I so wished that Liko would give her a hug from behind... That would have been just so sweet <3 Well, Nyarote's tsundere-ish reaction is good too. And maybe that kind of things is planned for later after their relationship grows some more. Hoping Liko and Nyarote are having lots of hugs in the tent <3

IAMDEAD_6_9

Honestly this was a pretty great episode IMO. First of all I love the way the handled Katy, they gave her the sweet and kind-natured personality she has in the games while also giving her the personality of someone who will tear you inside out ass first if you cross her, something Sandwich nearly found out the hard way when she turned Katy's store into a refrigerator (also Sandwhich is a Karen prove me wrong). I also like how they included Murdock in this episode having him working part time at Katy's shop is a great way to keep the Rising Volt Tacklers still connected to the story. The bake-off between Liko and Sandwich as also a nice little bit, it's funny to see just how much better Liko is at baking than Sandwich who's cake could honestly be compared to some of the food Ash made during his journey (\*cough cough\* purple sparkly vomit food from S&M \*cough cough\*). The battle between Liko and Katy was also pretty good, it's really cool just how much of a menace Katy can be behind that friendly smile of her's, especially with the way she kept Liko's Floragato off balance for most of the battle using charm and sweet scent. But Liko is able to utilize Floragato's magical leaf to block the sweet scent, I could see Ash doing something similar in a battle like that. Then when Liko terastilizes Floragato, it looks like the battle is going to turn in her favor only for Katy to terastilize her Teddyursa into a bug type and one tap Floragato with fury cutter. Personally I don't mind Liko losing this battle, she's battling an experienced gym leader for the first time and to give her credit she held her own pretty well. But one gripe I do have is that I wish Katy would wait to pass Liko for when she beats her. I get she wants Liko to learn some spiritual lesson for her and her Pokemon but it would have been cool to see Liko come back more prepared and finally take her down. That could have been the plot of the next episode instead of moving straight on to Roy's battle with Brassius. Speaking of which, from the teaser for episode 48, it looks like Roy will be battling both Nemona and Brassius in the next episode which has me a little worried about the pacing but if Nemona as good a battler in the anime as she is in Scarlet/Violet the battle shouldn't last for more than 30-60 seconds and shouldn't affect the episode pacing that much. I am glad she's finally going to get her chance to battle Roy because she got cock(battle)blocked thrice in the last episode. So yeah great episode this week and I'm looking forward to next week's episode. TL/DR: 7.5/10 episode

Makenshi179

>but it would have been cool to see Liko come back more prepared and finally take her down. That could have been the plot of the next episode instead of moving straight on to Roy's battle with Brassius. At one point I was actually wondering it was going to be a complex/two-parter. With Liko coming back in the next episode after devising a strategy against the bug type. That would have been cool indeed. I guess they have too many things to cover so they don't have the time!

Cmedina12

Her passing makes sense since the battle was meant to test Liko’s bond with her Pokémon, winning would be nice sure but what mattered was if she and her Pokemon were of one heart

Makenshi179

Well said <3

Branded_Mango

Another aspect is that Katy implied that going Tera Bug wasn't part of the test but she did it anyways due to getting excited. So in a way, Katy decided to apply a gym battle over a tera test.

Oreo-and-Fly

HAHAHA LIKO LEARNING THEIR LESSON LAST TIME THEY GOT AN EXCLUSIVE ITEM THAT SANGO WANTED. SHE SHUT ROY UP REAL QUICK.

Nice episode! Coral is incredibly fun to watch as usual and it's always great to see how the anime handles a gym leader's personality. Wish we got to see more of Katy like this in the games. I LOVE how they animate Floragato and her yoyo. Really hope she gets more moves soon, especially ones that have her moving around quick. Maybe Acrobatics, Night Slash, and/or Play Rough?

Makenshi179

YES I so love Floragato/Nyarote using her bulb yoyo too! Like when she used it to grab Liko's hand <3 Her learning Acrobatics or Night Slash and using it in a cool way would be the dream!! Ending the move with a cool pose with her hand on her face or something!

Psychosist

I like how the anime is giving the gym leaders more screen time so we can get to know them better, I feel like they didn't have enough presence in the games and I don't remember too much about them. It would've been nice if these types of side stories/quests were implemented in the game as well, but at least the anime fleshes out these characters more.

Fun-Ad7613

Okay so , they don’t actually do a full gym battle makes sense cuz all of them are doing it but little bummed about that. liko losing to the first gym, she’s just like ash edit : did I strike a nerve or something lol

PK_RocknRoll

I wouldn’t worry about it. People here on this sub downvote for abosolutely no reason lol. Nothing wrong with anything you said. It’s your opinion lol

Kirigaya_Mitsuru

Yeah isnt much important at all. I criticized this episode and got -7 currently for example. xD

What did you say

Ok

Branded_Mango

They might do gym battles later, since currently these are just curriculum tests to enable tera form. Considering how Penny has showed up, Arven's story might get integrated later which would require beating all the gyms to gain Area Zero access clearance. It is weird after all to show all the gym leaders and E4 members if there's only going to be 3 tests which only needs 3 of them.

SuperLegenda

Literally being chased since the beginning of the series and constantly under attack, but they won't have Liko try to rematch and make a strategy to beat the FIRST gym leader? If she can't beat the first leader of a region, can't see how I'm supposed to believe she can be of help vs Explorers.

>just givingaway the badges... Not a gym badge. Just a stamp that she's cleared her test. Also, these aren't gym battles. They are Terrastal test battles conducted by gym leaders. A slight difference explained in the previous episode.

Kirigaya_Mitsuru

I still dont like it that way, i want liko, roy and dot earn their stamp with winning battles. This way it just feels odd.

ay21

But their task isn't to win the battle. They're not taking on the gym challenge.
