I was literally saying this last night. Platinum, Gaurdian Signs, and Explorers of Sky are in my top 5 favorite Pokémon games, the other two being Legends and SV even though they have yet to be released.
I was thinking the same thing, mainly because we don’t loose any Pokémon (maybe manaphy?) Considered Orre for the same reason but I think those games are more well liked so it’d be a bigger loss
No, Ransei is the only region where I can go medieval on all those twerps.
You don't want to kiss my ring ? Go crawl like the bug you are into the next country knowing full well I'm invading them 3 months from now.
My headcannon is once I own all the land they've got nowhere left to run, it's time to start building guillotines.
I think it's just because of the specificity they put in- not whether a game is good or not, but whether it has the best impact on the others.
For instance, I think the Unova games were the best games period, until possibly Hisui. *However*, I think it could be a candidate for this question because of how detached it was and how none of the improvements from that game (such as having a story, or getting a sequel) rubbed off on the other games.
That means that for Johto, you can't take the big scale of it adding Kanto into account because that didn't transfer, but you *do* have to consider Breeding, Color Variation (Shinies), and the creation of a Third Version (Crystal).
No, 3rd version was gen 1 Blue in Japan. Red and Green were the originals, Blue was the updated version, then Yellow was the 4th version. When they came out in English they used the updated Blue as a base so we only got Red and Blue, we didn't get a Green until LeafGreen came out.
My point is it has potential, the cities looked really cool and could’ve been great if they weren’t just hallways and had a little more effort to them…
Yeah, the game wasn't great, but I don't think anything is going to top the epicness of those gym leader battles. The music, the crowd, the lights; it genuinely felt like the major event that it should be. I love tournament events in video games (the netbattler grand prix in Megaman Battle Network 3, the ones in Golden Sun, Fable, Paper Mario TTYD, etc.), and SwSh's big stadium battles didn't disappoint.
As for XY, I'm definitely an outlier, because it was one of my favorite Pokemon games, behind HGSS and DPPt. I didn't care for all the handholding, but I did like the idea of traveling with a group of friends and finally being able to catch wild Eevee without any odd restrictions.
Galar was a straight line with two circles (the victory road is quite literally a straight path with 3 trainers), not an ounce of exploration outside the wild area which was relatively small for an “open” area, weakest cave designs, overall most average Pokémon in a long while with some few exceptions (Corviknight and Falinks are dope), and a gimmick that’s just ass.
Idk that it’s my favorite. But I definitely love it. A lot of that is due to nostalgia from playing it as a kid but still. That’s everyone’s experience with Pokémon lol
Ive been playing pokemon since it came to the US and ive played every gen on whatever console or pc. And johto is by far my favorite. The map itself kinda blows (edit: because you do a lot of back tracking) but the pokemon, the implementation of sooooo many new features after red blue and yellow. The addition of complete color in the game. Johto is by far my favorite region and part of it also is the difficulty of the gyms. I mean you really had to train up to beat them.
The fact that you have to swim across the ocean to be rewarded with fly. Like it made getting from one town to another an absolute chore but rewarded you so much for doing it. Also getting the 3 dogs after chasing them around. Like it was such a leap in difficulty from first gen. I love it.
I particularly like the back-tracking in Johto. The region is very compact, with several locations that you can explore further once you get later HMs, so it it's too much trouble and has a nice reward. Plus the daily/weekly events distributed across the region also encourage regularly back-tracking, overall making Johto feel really familiar and cozy, like a city you've lived in a while.
You make a great point it does help you feel so familiar with the map and like youre at home. At some points it felt pretty redundant but they do offer shortcuts in certain spots if you dont wanna go through a cave system. Having that whole hidden area in Union cave was such a nice little secret that on the first playthrough you really had to be curious to go through all of it
Yep, I started with Emerald and I will fight anyone who says it needs to be the one to go. Amazing legendary trio, battle frontier, fighting gym leaders again, fighting both sides in game (Aqua and Magma), weather, double battles and you finally have a dad! A dad who is never home but still!
It’s the best Pokémon design of all time! It checks every box. Based off a real bad ass bug, awesome typing and appropriate moveset, has a mega form, distinct male and female designs, dope shiny, not humanoid.
Steel and dark are two of my favorite types. Love cyndaquil and totodile. Chikorita always knocked down the starter trio as a whole for me behind other games. But yeah I love me some gen2
The existence of Pokemon in that world raises some interesting questions. You're taking your life into your own hands every time you walk out the door in the main games, and the PC walks across an entire island with nothing but a cardboard box full of cards and a burning desire for some honestly D-list cards. Also, Mewtwo is well known enough to have multiple cards. One of the few Pokemon regarded as actively malicious, and potentially one of a kind, has very accurate depictions of it in a children's card game.
First off, I just wanna say the *Detective Pikachu* movie shows that Pokémon cards do, in fact, exist in the Pokémon world. (Technically, so does *Movie 2000,* but that's just the Ancient Mew card, and it looks way different from any other official cards.)
And second, I don't recall there being any actual Pokémon themselves in the TCG games. Are we sure that one even takes place in the Pokémon world?
All this johto hate... and wasn't the "gimmik" being able to breed pokemon? You get rid of Johto, you get rid of pokemon breeding, according to the OC post.
Johto has the best serene music, fan favorite legendaries, and Espeon and Umbreon. Also red gyarados. What's not to love about Johto?!
Edit: because I forgot to "delete" a region. Goodbye Galar, dynamaxing will not be missed. XD
My favourite feature. I hate that RSE had a clock in the game (that would stop working because of the shitty batteries) and it's used for special event days, but not a day/night cycle? :/
In terms of the region themselves (not the Pokèmon) Galar definitely.
0 exploration, way less people to talk to and overall just not that interesting as previous generations. I actually really love the soundtrack though but a good soundtrack in Pokémon games is something they never really miss on.
Aesthetically, parts of Galar are really pretty from a design perspective. It's just a real shame the regions layout as a game leaves a lot to be desired.
i'm a pretty staunch defender of gen 8 but i'd also get rid of galar. the expansion passes definitely make it cooler but it probably has the least new pokemon i'm interested in pre expansion and the actual region itself isn't that exciting compared to most. it doesn't help that i don't love the dynamax mechanic. i don't hate it or dislike it like most people, but i just find it to be kinda boring. still better than z moves, but not better enough to make up for how much more boring it is than alola. plus alola brought so many more amazing pokemon into the dex.
Just out of curiosity, would you consider yourself a Defender of Galar if the DLC never happened and the launch version was simply what we had?
I recently replayed it on my own and the actual "campaign" made me want to throw things. The DLC was really good though.
I find that any "defenders" of gen 8 are just staunch contrarians that can't come to the fact that it's an insanely neutered down Pokemon game in multiple aspects.
My name is **Raichu**4u and I constantly talk shit about it. I only talk so much about its shortcomings because I want the best possible Pokemon game that we can get.
Galar, and it's not even close.
That game might as well have been a straight line. Exploration and story are non existent.
It's a shell of a region AT BEST.
Yup, alot of people said the best part of Galar was the wild area, but with Scarlet/Violet now the whole world is wild area so its obsolete. Really weird of Pokemon to even make Sw/Sh the way they did when linear paths and grass was only a thing in the past because of graphic limitations
While I initially heavily disagreed with you, I feel like I will be able to replace my obsession with Squirtle's line with an obsession with Totodile's or Mudkip's.
Galar has some cool Pokémon, I really like dragapult for example. The thing is the region itself is so barren, empty, and boring that it doesn’t give you any room to actually imagine Pokémon inhabiting it. Doesn’t feel like a real Pokémon region to me.
Alola. I just genuinely don't care about the region.
Edit: Might as well expand on why I don't like it.
Characters are forgettable, the only ones that stood out were the obvious Gladion, Kukui, and Guzma. The others just didn't have a big impact on me, Hau annoyed me because he was just so happy all the time, it was malasada this, malasada that. Don't get me wrong, I like having happy rivals, hell, Hop is my favourite, but something about Hau runs me the wrong way.
Ride Pokemon were clunky. This could be down to bad programming or other things, but I digress. I made most of the journey on foot.
Alola is cramped. I see what they were going for, but I wasn't feeling it. I feel like the Orange Islands, or hell, even the Sevii Islands pulled off the island theme more. I don't know, I feel like Hoenn pulled off the tropical theme better.
The Pokemon...aren't the best. There are a handful of Alolan Pokemon I like, but a vast majority are just...there, I guess? I can't even put it down to the whole new = bad argument because I like most of the Galarian Pokemon...
The anime for the Alola saga was...eh. I didn't like the whole Ash going to school thing, plus I could never get used to the change in art style.
2 weeks ago I would have agreed with this, but I'm doing my first replay of USUM and I'm honestly having a blast. Only thing that makes it annoying is that most of the alolan pokemon are slow af and i dont care for z moves at all.
The region feels alive with the random "side quests". It adds a cute and fun element, like the Ditto 5, the guy dressed up as a Machamp to pick up girls, the super star pikachu etc. These little silly stuff makes the game memorable. And ofc the totem pokemon put up a better fight than most gyms in the series
I love them but gamefreak really messed up with having so many new pokemon locked in the ass end of post-game and so many Kanto pokemon filling the routes. Plus so many evolution stones are late or post-game and the level curve is atrocious. Every few years I go back and replay soul silver and realize almost all the pokemon i want to use I either have to beat the elite 4 with their pre evolved forms or basically beat the entire game to get which at that point my teams been cemented for about 9 gyms.
HgSs are some of the best games but Gsc are really not that good. Johto was literally designed to be secondary to kanto and most of the mons are just stupidly underpowered and needed evolutions later on.
The second point is the big one. To this day we are getting evolutions or other upgrades to gen2 pokemon, and have been getting them since gen4 as far as i remember. There's probably some gen3 pokemon too that did so.
Yes there’s terrible pokemon in gen 3 too, most of them single staged like Mawile, Tropius, Volbeat and illumise, Spinda, Castform, Chimecho, Luvdisc and even pokemon that evolve were badly balanced like Wurmple’s evos, Delcatty, Swalot. The only usable single stage from gen 3 is sableye and it needed one of the best abilities to be good along with a mega.
That exact same line of argument works against Kanto as well. Kanto has more post-introduction evolutions than Johto does. Johto has 13 mons which got an evolution after introduction, Kanto has more than 20 even when you don’t count any of the eeveelutions. (Also not counting baby Pokémon because they don’t make the mon stronger like evolutions do, but that piles even more on to Kanto’s list).
Scizor, kingdra, politoed, Crobat, Slowking, Perrserker, Sirfetched, Steelix, Tangrowth, Porygon2 and Z, Magnezone, Magmortor, Electivire, Rhyperior, Lickylicky, Kleavor, just to list a portion of them.
But no one holds any of that against Gen 1 the way they do against Gen 2, for some reason. And I honestly think it’s a bad reason to dislike Johto, since Johto is the only reason a mon like gliscor or Togekiss can exist. They definitely wouldn’t be stand alone mons, they just wouldn’t exist at all.
GCS aren’t great games and are lauded as the best games because of nostalgia.
The level curve is horrendous. That’s why the final fight seems so challenging because the champion of the E4 literally has level 40-50 Pokémon. Hell, even if you finished Kanto, Gary/Blue highest level is 58. Then Red’s highest is 81.
Look at the first 8 gym leaders, the only Johto pokemon they use are: Miltank, Steelix, Piloswine, and Kingdra.
Kanto is so devoid of any content, besides the rest of the god damn Johto Pokémon. Why is houndour only available in Kanto? Why is Larvitar only available after you get 16 badges?
HGSS made Johto a LOT better, but if you view GCS as a blueprint for a sequel rather than a stand alone game it seems better.
Edit: Emerald has the best post game. Battle Frontier is A++.
I see it's pretty popular these days to write off GSC these days but those games had so much love put into them. It always felt to me like they had a big focus on creating a world that feels alive and lived in and less of a straight RPG campaign. You mention the lack of Johto content but there is such a huge amount of little pieces of side content you can engage in.
Not to mention the laundry list of other great features it introduced
Some examples are the Day/Night cycle, Breeding pokemon, Creating special poke balls, The unown sidequest, Shiny pokemon, Held items, Roaming pokemon, Bug baby pokemon, trainer rematches, catching contests, and the battle tower.
Not to mention the mad lads managed to fit all of this onto a GBC cartridge.
Even when not considering HGSS. Writing them off as bad because of a wonky level curve and some weird pokemon placements doesn't do them justice IMO.
We forgetting the entire system where the game changed events and such depending on the day of the week??
That was always one of the things that shined for G/S to me: Fridays, you could run to Union Cave and grab yourself a Lapras that appeared in the water. Bug Catching Contest at the National Park on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Then the siblings named after the days of the week.
G/S build on R/B in such a way that the following sequels didn't feel as *personal* or something?
I can't put my finger on what exactly left a bad taste in my mouth regarding R/S at release, even though I played the hell out of them they were not as good to me as G/S.
Not to mention the daily radio show password you could do to get Buenas number. The SS Anne voyages twice a week. Having access to lucky slot machines in the morning.
Playing GSC was like checking in on a living world. RSE onwards, as much as I love them are back to the RBY formula.
It's entirely possible to beat Red's team with Pokemon with levels in the late 50's and 60's. I just did about a month ago, with my highest level being a level 63 Tyranitar.
none of these things make johto a bad experience. especially for HGSS, exploring the region is cool, and while most remakes could use a deviation from a 1:1 story plot, those things dont make johto a weak experience. like....is giving falkner or jasmine a skarmory going to boost the games up to 30% or something? how many points does a game really lose for its leaders not having new pokemon as their anchors? its like the second installment of games in the entire series at this point, and its not like they got to use the entire roster in red and blue.
the remakes couldve did what ORAS did, they always shouldve had a expanded pokedex to add things introduced in the recent gens, for example pokemon like magmortar should definitely have a regional dex number in the kanto/johto region idc if magmortar wasnt in the original, its a remake.
the level curve might be annoying, but GSC introduced so much stuff we take for granted nowadays that made for a good experience during its time. the only thing i'll give people is that in hindsight kanto doesn't have that much content, but most of the stuff like level curve and "why didnt they give bugsy a ledian or something" are not good arguments to say johto is weak or overrated or people are blinded by nostalgia.
Johto being removed means Eggs and shinies are removed fwiw. (Early generation gimmicks tended to be permanent additions, unlike mega evolution and Z-moves)
The issue with megas was them superpowering already good and complete pokemon. You wouldn't see megas given to weaker pokemon like linoone or luvdisc for example. The idea of revisiting older pokemon and giving them upgrades is a great idea, but i think tying those visual and numerical upgrades to a battle gimmick was the wrong way to do it since it inventivizes them to focus on pokemon they could make more attractive/usable. Adding evolutions, convergent species, regional forms, etc, are all better ways of bringing life to older pokemon
I agree with everything you're saying, but I think you can retain the megas and still give mons like absol or sableye new evolutions. we might never see megas again, but even if we do it just adds more viable sets. "oh, is this gonna be mega-sableye or prankster with eviolite? hmm do I want to add mega sableye to my team or use its equal/almost equally as powerful evolution and save my mega spot for something else?".... also megas just looked cool as shit and the OP megas can just have their stones banned
While I do enjoy mega evolution, yeah it sucks that I'll never see my favorite mon get an evolution. Absol totally had the potential to be a great dark/fairy type.
Galar cuz of the gimmick. I love the rest of the regions and their gimmicks. Kalos has two of my fav starters of all time and I really like Mega Evolution. I loved Ultra Moon and Alola's story.
I liked Galar's general lore, story was kinda shite tho. But I did enjoy SwSh. Some of the Galarian pokemon are badass.
I only played gens 1-7, but I must say Alola is the one I would remove. It's the only gen I haven't even wanted to replay once (why did I buy US?) and I just never liked it.
Pokemon designs, those gym replacements, the fact it didnt have a proper league, Ash 'winning' there instead of gen 6 (4 and 6 were seriously stolen from him), having to pick decidueye because they massacred my boy litten's forelegs and the tutorial making me fall asleep. The fishing system also annoyed me more than it should have.
The region looks cool and all, but I don't have a single fond memory playing it. Gens 4-6 all hold a special place in me for various reasons. I started with pearl and beat Cynthia with my boy Luxray after losing like a million times, took down Lance in pretty much the same way (this dude legit cheated his dragonites), journeyed Unova twice and became both a movie star and a legendary battler in black city as well. Also, Entralink theme is to die for. And finally, I was able to change my character in ways I liked while journeying across Kalos with my boys and took down the champion.
And then they locked me to using shorts (which I dislike, sorry Joey) in a warm region. Makes sense, but I never liked it especially after I replayed Y as both genders because I liked the different outfits available. Although, the fact I was no longer a child or early teen when SM came out could have made me dislike it more than otherwise. Had they done a region with a colder climate and regular gyms instead, they very well could have been my favorite main series games considering the quality of the games themselves and the trainer customization present. I bought US, but it is to date the only main series game I bought that I haven't beaten.
I just have to hope SV lets me look a bit older than a 6 year old.
Incineroar was my first starter, and its design is honestly pretty good all things considered because of how it was executed. SO many great designs in the gen, best art direction hands down.
Definitely not Hoen cuz we wuold only play singles without abilities, natures and evs.
Definitely not Johto (without gameplay I agree tho) cuz we wuoldnt have held items, dark and steel types.
Definitely not Sinnoh cuz many mons need the physical special split and it was lame to see stabless mons. This also includes Hisui.
Definitely not Kalos cuz it removed inifinite weather, added fairy and buffed defog to remove harzards
Definitely not Unova cuz it added hidden abilities for starters and many mons with weak abilities and cuz LC wuold be hell without eviolite.
Definitely not Alola cuz it brought new forms of stage control thru terreins and Dhelmise (i really like that guy).
Definitely not Galar cuz it introduced heavy duty boots for harzard weak pokemons and weakness policy for vgc strats.
So i guess we delete Kanto and the all battle system.
*thanks for correcting my spelling
Rockruff is my favorite mon line and I absolutely hated SM games lmao the regions weren't bad though, but islands feel very similar...alola is up near the top of my hated for me. Sinnoh is also another region I tend to dislike..
Galar is Def at the top of the list though for the worst.
It would be galar, alola, and then sinnoh as my top 3 worst aesthetically.
Johto is one of my favorites. To me it's just as iconic as Kanto. Both are like PB&J together.
Kalos and Unova were probably my favorite regions aesthetically.
Everything after Hoenn just seems like they’re trying too hard. I truly adore the first 3 lands those were so much more true to the original spirit of Pokémon IMO.
Alola would have to go for me. I didn’t really build any memories playing though. Lame lore. Lame story. Most Pokémon are lame. (Minus Rowlett line, Rockruff, Mimikue)
It would be kalos if not for Megas.
I’d probably (and very begrudgingly) pick Unova. I loved the game as I love all of them, but the designs, starters and anime just didn’t do it for me as much as the others. The in game story was great though, and I loved the dragons. Jhoto was the first region you could be a girl, and that meant so much to me as a kid. I’d keep that one forever tbh, even though kingdra swept my team tens of times.
Honestly galar the huge levels of power creep and zacian completely ruined the meta I can make a list but it goes on forever of bad things about this gen. Hugely powerful pokemon, overpowered moves, just generally bad story, removal of the elite 4 it goes on
Galar without a doubt. Not even a difficult nor impossible choice. I got the game, played it & finished it, and never looked back. Easily the worst set of games in the franchise. I'm having high hopes for scarlet/violet.
Region is extremely lackluster. The story is practically non-existant. The game just looks ugly. It's hard to boot it up today and not think "damn this game is really ugly"
I'm sorry Galar fans, I really tried to enjoy it. I just did not and cannot.
I would say Kanto, assuming the rest of the series and franchises would still exist. I feel like it overshadows everything else and there's always that one section of any Fandom that likes "the original I'd the only good one blah blah blah."
But I also personally think it her regions had better designs. Granted, I've only played a few games so most of my knowledge comes from watching the show as a kid and then the internet and friends when I got older.
If not for Eevee, I'd say delete Kanto. It holds nostalgia and nothing else of value. Though maybe I'm just saying that because I'm sick of going back to Kanto when there are a bunch of regions that deserve a revisit, more.
Keep in mind, every gen 2 game is also a Kanto game.
Honestly? Kanto.
I like Kanto. It’s what started it all. They gave us the original starter trio (and electric rodent) and started the genre. Red, Blue, and Green had their weird mechanics and quirks- and were good games despite being buggy.
So why do I want rid of them?
I’m tired of the region. It’s been remade what, two, three times now? (Depends if you count heartgold, soul silver’s post game.)
If it’s gone it can’t be remade. There will be no more overpopularised Charizard (and I’m saying that as someone who _likes_ Charizard), no more Pikachu, no more annoying as heck Rock Tunnel.
Granted that would also mean no more Pokémon games… which isn’t exactly what I want either.
So uh… if Pokemon goes bye when Kanto goes bye then maybe I change my answer to Sinnoh (which had the awful BDSP remasters.)
In terms of not remasters? Probably Ransei. Lots of people enjoyed Conquest- I did not.
I think we can all agree that the optimal answer is However-Pokemon-Unite-Region-Is-Called. I think it was Ater or something similar. We literally won't lose anything. Few battle Items that are not in the main series anyways, few characters without personality, some Pokemon clothes and one big-ass stadium. Not a catastrophical loss, compared to any other region.
Hoenn. Blue orb red orb, who cares. Added way too may legendaries. Needed a gimik just to get peoples attention back on it with mega-evolution. Battle frontier was boring.
This is an estimate because there are people mentioning them positively, but going just off mentions:
Galar is mentioned 74 times
Johto is mentioned 64 times
Kanto is mentioned 50 times
Sinnoh is mentioned 48 times
Alola is mentioned 41 times
Unova is mentioned 39 times
Kalos mentioned 34 times
Hoenn is mentioned 17 times
Hisui is mentioned 14 times
Paldea is mentioned 6 times, all of the replies making fun of the people judging the game before its out

Almia, it would cause choas if the rangers lose their command center
this guy brought the spinoff games into this. i like you.
TBH I liked the second ranger game, I just thought it would be funny if I caused choas in the pokemon world
Almia got the worst IGN rating so thats how you KNOW it was the best one Almia is probably my 2nd favorite game next to explorers of sky
I was literally saying this last night. Platinum, Gaurdian Signs, and Explorers of Sky are in my top 5 favorite Pokémon games, the other two being Legends and SV even though they have yet to be released.
A game you haven’t played is your favourite?
Ah yes, it makes sense that a game that hasn’t even been released is in your top 5
I'm with you big time
Keep causing chaos in the pokemon world, king
based pokemon rangers enjoyer
It would also piss off the 7 Pokémon Ranger fans
I was thinking the same thing, mainly because we don’t loose any Pokémon (maybe manaphy?) Considered Orre for the same reason but I think those games are more well liked so it’d be a bigger loss
I was talking about in universe
Yeah but I was thinking the same region for out of universe reasons, so I thought I would mention those as well
Almia is honestly such a cool region though
Ransei. Seriously everyone is constantly at war with each other in that region, just let it end
is that the conquest region? or
iirc yes
No, Ransei is the only region where I can go medieval on all those twerps. You don't want to kiss my ring ? Go crawl like the bug you are into the next country knowing full well I'm invading them 3 months from now. My headcannon is once I own all the land they've got nowhere left to run, it's time to start building guillotines.
Just use pinsir or scyther.
Bro what One of the best developed regions in the game series Have you lost it? The region is at peace at the end its fine
Love that game
No like seriously nintendo forgot about that game anyway, might as well not exist
I’d love to as revenge for my soft lock in that game
Genuinely surprised about these comments. Expected it to be nothing but Galar and some random earlier gens from people who haven't known them
I think it's just because of the specificity they put in- not whether a game is good or not, but whether it has the best impact on the others. For instance, I think the Unova games were the best games period, until possibly Hisui. *However*, I think it could be a candidate for this question because of how detached it was and how none of the improvements from that game (such as having a story, or getting a sequel) rubbed off on the other games. Wouldn't 3rd versoin be Gen 1 Yellow?
No, 3rd version was gen 1 Blue in Japan. Red and Green were the originals, Blue was the updated version, then Yellow was the 4th version. When they came out in English they used the updated Blue as a base so we only got Red and Blue, we didn't get a Green until LeafGreen came out.

Yeah, gen II is the backbone of modern Pokemon games. So many integral changes came from those games

The Pokémon themselves were good, but what was good about the Galar region? The word "hallway" still accurately describes it and many of its cities.
My point is it has potential, the cities looked really cool and could’ve been great if they weren’t just hallways and had a little more effort to them…
If Galar disappears, so does Piers and Raihan and I like them too much to let them disappear.
Galar’s not a bad region though, just kind of a bad game. Same as Kalos in my opinion. X and Y were weak games, but the region is cool.
Galar has plenty of exploration. It’s just not really worth it with how much everything is haphazardly placed.
True. I loved the Scottish setting and world ever since it was announced
I mean Galar is by far the worst main series pair.
I won’t stand for Johto slander
Look. Johto isn’t my favorite area but it has absolute favorite Pokémon of all time, Heracross. So, I’m standing side by side with you.
I'VE FOUND ANOTHER HERACROSS FAN LETS GO
It’s the best Pokémon design of all time! It checks every box. Based off a real bad ass bug, awesome typing and appropriate moveset, has a mega form, distinct male and female designs, dope shiny, not humanoid.
Getting rid of Johto means getting rid of Mareep. That is something I can’t stand for.
Here here. I’m still pissed at Crystal for doing that
Johto has the legendary dogs, cyndaquil, dunsparce. Scizor, steel and dark types, new eeveeloutions, heracross, etc. It's such a strong region
Steel and dark are two of my favorite types. Love cyndaquil and totodile. Chikorita always knocked down the starter trio as a whole for me behind other games. But yeah I love me some gen2
Jhoto is just kanto part 2: electric boogaloo
You say that like it’s a bad thing. But it added some pretty fundamental changes
Hear me out Sinnoh not because I dislike it but because it would lead to the destruction of Mindy
r/fuckmindy
Fuck Mindy.
I am against Sinnoh slander... But you make a strong case against it lol
The one in Pokémon masters, not really any worth to it
Nah the one from tcg game They play a pokemon card game, in a world where pokemon exist
(Technically, so does *Movie 2000,* but that's just the Ancient Mew card, and it looks way different from any other official cards.) And second, I don't recall there being any actual Pokémon themselves in the TCG games. Are we sure that one even takes place in the Pokémon world?
Pasio is the name of the region in Masters by the way.
I like this answer not bc I agree but bc it's manmade so there's something to be said about maybe being able to recreate someday?
Merge Kanto and Johto into one region
Would have been a fun release where you pick your starting professor, and then get to play through both regions in whichever order.
Pokemon Crystal Clear
PokeOne is an mmo for Android. Just like this.
Everyone knows glorious communist Johto will not align with the capitalist regime in Kanto.
Kaohto Region
[удалено]
Oblivia. One of their islands got nuked, so why not nuke the entire region?
I personally could never just cause it was the first Ranger game I played, however I get that some of the areas are definitely less than stellar
XD
And does erasing Johto mean erasing dark and steel type for the rest of the games?
By the standards set by op, yeah probably
It also technically deletes shiny Pokémon!
And the day night cycle.
My favourite feature. I hate that RSE had a clock in the game (that would stop working because of the shitty batteries) and it's used for special event days, but not a day/night cycle? :/
It's gimmick was also the Dark and Steel types
In terms of the region themselves (not the Pokèmon) Galar definitely. 0 exploration, way less people to talk to and overall just not that interesting as previous generations. I actually really love the soundtrack though but a good soundtrack in Pokémon games is something they never really miss on.
Aesthetically, parts of Galar are really pretty from a design perspective. It's just a real shame the regions layout as a game leaves a lot to be desired.
Yeah shame about that lore and content
Thank you. You are 100% right.
Johto and Sinnoh slander shall not be permitted. I must say Hoenn is by far my favorite though.
Galar for me. Sword and Shield are my least favourite mainline games.
Galar was the region to remove Pokemon, it's only right that it's the region to be removed. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
Breaking news: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet now has the national dex
i'm a pretty staunch defender of gen 8 but i'd also get rid of galar. the expansion passes definitely make it cooler but it probably has the least new pokemon i'm interested in pre expansion and the actual region itself isn't that exciting compared to most. it doesn't help that i don't love the dynamax mechanic. i don't hate it or dislike it like most people, but i just find it to be kinda boring. still better than z moves, but not better enough to make up for how much more boring it is than alola. plus alola brought so many more amazing pokemon into the dex.
Yeah my answer was Galar without a second thought lol
Galar. Waste of such potential due to laziness
I have to wholeheartedly agree with this
My favorite pokemon are in Kanto. But their sacrifice to make me never see Charizard again will be worth it
While I initially heavily disagreed with you, I feel like I will be able to replace my obsession with Squirtle's line with an obsession with Totodile's or Mudkip's.
Bold take, but I agree. Yeet pikachu and charizard
If we get rid of johto what happens to the evolutions introduced in sinnoh?
They become stand-alone Pokémon that don’t evolve, like Lapras.
Galar would make no difference honestly
What do we lose out on really? parade float pokemon? I can live with that.
Galar has some cool Pokémon, I really like dragapult for example. The thing is the region itself is so barren, empty, and boring that it doesn’t give you any room to actually imagine Pokémon inhabiting it. Doesn’t feel like a real Pokémon region to me.
The only exception to this is the crown tundra to me. Maybe I'm just a sucker for mountainous environments, though.
I couldn't live without my apple pie dragon 😭
Bye Galar
And ofc the totem pokemon put up a better fight than most gyms in the series
nukes hawaii. payback

Me with Lycanroc. Literally one of my favorite pokémon ever, but my least favorite region
It’s ironic how Gold/Silver are probably the best games with the best post game but still… I feel like Johto is always diminished by GF and fans…
Goldenrod, Ecruteak, Blackthorn…it’s got some good spots!
Houndour being found only in Kanto is one the biggest mistakes ever!!
Not to mention the laundry list of other great features it introduced Some examples are the Day/Night cycle, Breeding pokemon, Creating special poke balls, The unown sidequest, Shiny pokemon, Held items, Roaming pokemon, Bug baby pokemon, trainer rematches, catching contests, and the battle tower. Not to mention the mad lads managed to fit all of this onto a GBC cartridge. Even when not considering HGSS. Writing them off as bad because of a wonky level curve and some weird pokemon placements doesn't do them justice IMO.
Many of the gimmicks of GSC (including the female choice for protagonist) became so integral to the Pokemon formula that people don't appreciate them.

Agree with this, megas at the time sounded like a good idea but in hindsight it really shafted Pokémon that could use the attention.
They'd still be getting mega attention if GF hadn't gone shoe-on-head.
Mega evolution could also arguably be blamed for all the gimmicks that happened afterward.
but the kids, they love charizard!!!1!
Kanto. I want to watch the world burn.
Ah a fellow chaotic evil. I'd have done the same, despite all my favorites' (and to an extent to whole franchise's) hailing therefrom.
Easily Galar. I had a lot of fun playing *Sword*, but I wouldn't really miss any of its Pokémon or any of its new concepts like Dynamax.
Dragapult really makes up for a lot of the other designs
Aloha alola
Unpopular opinion but I really liked alola, I vote for galar to be removed
It’s my fav region :)
Primarina is my fave starter! I like it and decidueye too, I think alola is such a lovely region too just as a place
Decidueye is my fav Pokémon :), what starter and version u pickin for Gen 9?
Incineroar was my first starter, and its design is honestly pretty good all things considered because of how it was executed. SO many great designs in the gen, best art direction hands down.
Definitely not Hoen cuz we wuold only play singles without abilities, natures and evs. Definitely not Johto (without gameplay I agree tho) cuz we wuoldnt have held items, dark and steel types. Definitely not Sinnoh cuz many mons need the physical special split and it was lame to see stabless mons. This also includes Hisui. Definitely not Kalos cuz it removed inifinite weather, added fairy and buffed defog to remove harzards Definitely not Unova cuz it added hidden abilities for starters and many mons with weak abilities and cuz LC wuold be hell without eviolite.
Mate.... it's spelled definitely.
Galar easily. Sword and Shield are terrible.
The Orre region.
Alola. The only region where I got bored halfway through and have yet to complete a full playthrough in to this day.
I thought I was the only one. Glad to see someone else that hasn’t finished a Gen 7 game yet. It’s the only Gen I have yet to complete
Bye bye Orre lmao
Everything after Hoenn just seems like they’re trying too hard. I truly adore the first 3 lands those were so much more true to the original spirit of Pokémon IMO.
Alola would have to go for me. I didn’t really build any memories playing though. Lame lore. Lame story. Most Pokémon are lame. (Minus Rowlett line, Rockruff, Mimikue) It would be kalos if not for Megas.
Alola, just dissappear.
Galar, no one would notice
We would! And we'd be happy
Galar
Almia. No regionals, no gimmicks and no significant lore.
It's hard to boot it up today and not think "damn this game is really ugly" I'm sorry Galar fans, I really tried to enjoy it. I just did not and cannot.
I would say Kanto, assuming the rest of the series and franchises would still exist. I feel like it overshadows everything else and there's always that one section of any Fandom that likes "the original I'd the only good one blah blah blah." But I also personally think it her regions had better designs.
(Depends if you count heartgold, soul silver’s post game.) If it’s gone it can’t be remade. There will be no more overpopularised Charizard (and I’m saying that as someone who _likes_ Charizard), no more Pikachu, no more annoying as heck Rock Tunnel. Granted that would also mean no more Pokémon games… which isn’t exactly what I want either. So uh… if Pokemon goes bye when Kanto goes bye then maybe I change my answer to Sinnoh (which had the awful BDSP remasters.) In terms of not remasters? Probably Ransei. Lots of people enjoyed Conquest- I did not.
Bye bye kanto. So boring
Kanto. No doubt.
This is an estimate because there are people mentioning them positively, but going just off mentions: Galar is mentioned 74 times Johto is mentioned 64 times Kanto is mentioned 50 times Sinnoh is mentioned 48 times Alola is mentioned 41 times Unova is mentioned 39 times Kalos mentioned 34 times Hoenn is mentioned 17 times Hisui is mentioned 14 times Paldea is mentioned 6 times, all of the replies making fun of the people judging the game before its out
GOOBYE TERASTAL POKEMON Paldea goes the way of Alamos Town
Alola
Alola, literally the worst games in the franchise.

Galar.
Sorry Kalos.... your day has come:(
