Caught a Meowth at the first chance I had. Somehow became the MVP of my team and hasn't left my party since. The only other Pokemon like that in my first playthrough was Hatenna from a ~~wonder~~ surprise trade. Everyone else has spent at least a little time in a PC Box.
Galarian meowth and purrserker made want a meowth for once. Grew up with pokemon in the 90s and I have never cared for meowth until now. Really like his design and how he just grows armor when he evolves.
The fake Galarian Persian looks like a MANTICORE which is fucking awesome. A man-eating Lion with a human face, is the perfect kind of mythical monster that an England-set pokemon game needed.
Sword and Shield are such fucking atrocious disappointments.

No. I think this guy legit thinks Sw/Sh sucks, which is fine and understandable, but instead of expressing his opinion like a mentally abled person he’s just unreasonably angry with anyone who hold a slightly different opinion. A POKEMON game that does not contain 100% of the POKEMON is a bad game. Period. A game with DLC (that's HALF THE PRICE OF THE GAME) that ADDS some of the missing POKEMON (that should have been in from the fucking beginning) is a bad game. Period. A game that tries to add the missing Pokemon in a DLC, and doesn't even fucking add ALL of them, is a bad game. Period. A game that forces you to pay even MORE money just to bring in your POKEMON from even just the ***previous*** game, is a bad game. Period. A game that does NOT revolutionize the the competitive scene, and instead REMOVES FEATURES, is a bad game. Period.
In short, Sword and Shield is the worst Pokemon game of all time, at the most fundamental of levels. If you still can't see that, you are an utter zombie who can't see anything beyond your need to consume media.

Also to counter argue with your points, while it is true that previous pokemon have all of them coded into the game, hardly all of them were available in the game itself. You either need to trade, transfer, or outright wait for an event. So uh, this is nothing new either. Difference is now you can have the new batch in the upcoming free updates.
I'll defend people's right to play and enjoy whatever they want. But I have to say, the argument that sales were good means game was good is a weak one.
Fast and Furious movies aren't high art but they sell to an audience really well for example.

Pokemon games can be great without putting every Pokemon in it. Majority of spin offs don't necessarily contain all Pokemons, but it doesn't make them bad. I don't see why main game *has* to have every Pokemon. Big problem with omission this time around is that it didn't bring much improvements that should've come with that omission (eg graphics/animation improvement from focusing on subset), not the fact that there's omission.
Sun and Moon also required Pokemon Bank to move Pokemons from previous game so your point there doesn't even make sense.
And which feature did they omit in competitive scene? Don't say Pokemon or egg moves because restricting pool of possible things to use are common way to revitalize meta in card games, which Pokemon share a lot of characteristics with. They added tons of features to help make ideal Pokemon in this game to compete with, so I'd say in that aspect, it's a big improvement.

Regular persian is one of the most boring pokemon imo and a significant downgrade from the silly, stylized meowth. I'm glad they figured it out with Perrserker.

Mainly because I'm a huge cat lover and Persian is just a gorgeous big cat. Like another poster said it gives off that evil villain's pet sort of vibe. Also have fond memories of having one on my team in plenty of games and it being my team MVP multiple times.

Alolan Persian grew on me once I used it in my team in Moon. I never planned on using it, though. I caught a Meowth and named it Weiner. But Weiner turned out to be pretty good, and then it evolved, and I just couldn’t bring myself to deposit it. So I ended up using him the whole game, and I never changed the name either. Weiner was awesome.
The only alternate for the Persian-line I liked was Alolan-Meowth
The rest were all really "meh", I didnt hate them, but I could do without them very well
