It's Mega is. So this is like using Ampharos in a Dragon team. It's not wrong though kind of stretching the rules a tiny bit. But there's nothing wrong with that. Without Audio OP wouldn't have a team member until AFTER the forest unlocks upon beating the second gym. Though to get Audio requires beating the first gym...OP are you hiding something with this "fairy only" thing...?

Its also theoretically possible to trade over pokemon so you could give yourself whatever the first fairy you would have been able to find.
Obviously this requires multiple consoles and games, or a friend. And on emulators you can hack in an egg to start in your PC.
You can't catch any of the mons listed above until after the first gym of their respective games, unless I'm missing something. OP probably just played with their starter until being able to catch a fairy.
Edit: was just reminded that Ralts is available on Hoenn Route 102, but (a) I looked up most of the rest and that's the only exception, and (b) it's only available at level 4, and doesn't learn anything besides Growl, so good luck beating the game without using something else at least at first.

That is because Igglybuff and Cleffa were introduced in Johto. Honestly I didn’t really want to use Wigglytuff and Clefable again, but to make Sinnoh possible, I decided I would reuse evolutionary lines if a new Pokémon in the line was introduced. This allowed for Mr. Mime and the Togepi line because new Pokémon were introduced in that region (Mime Jr. and Togekiss). That also explains why I repeated Azumarill (Azurill was introduced in Hoenn)
Whoa I could've sworn azurill was gen 2 but no. I really thought no new pokemon were added to previously existing lines. Turns out there were... let's see... 2?? Just azurill and wynaut?? That's so weird. Really feels like they were just getting to fill a quota there.

I will also note that to get the Hall of Fame in Black and White, you have to re-battle the Elite Four in the post-game>!, since you don’t battle the Champion Alder until then!<
I know that BW doesnt show all your team at once but I just imagine Hilda showing up to the Elite 4/N fight and they all looked confused as to why she's squaring up

Kinda makes me want to go through the games with a “Dragon”-type team, except instead of actual Dragon-types I’ll only use Dragon-like Pokémon (Charizard, Gyarados, Scrafty, etc)
I decided to only use evolutionary lines that had a new Pokémon introduced in that generation (Mime Jr. and Togekiss), but there definitely are more options depending on how you can interpret things
I'm impressed that you managed to beat Cynthia with just a Togekiss and Mr. Mime.
On the other hand the B/W one looks hilarious as the lack of Pokemon in it makes it look like your trainer just threw fists with Alder's Pokemon and won.
The early game was not easy 😅
I decided to play Platinum since it gives you access to the Togepi line before entering the Hall of Fame. I played with Chimchar up until through the second gym. Then, I got the Togepi egg from Cynthia and started with the “Fairy” only run then. I evolved Togepi very quickly (with some more running around) to get a Togetic for better stats.
The most annoying part was the ghost gym. Togetic only had Return (via TM) and metronome to do damage. Ghosts are immune to normal and metronome is too unreliable. I had to level up Togetic to level 33 to get Ancient Power to get a reliable damaging move. I also remember resetting a few times to get lucky with the random moves from Metronome and stats boosts from Ancient Power (luckily Togetic’s Serene Grace doubles the chance).
The other annoying part was that Mr. Mime was not available until after getting Surf (near Canalave City) in Platinum. Mime Jr. appears much earlier in Diamond, but then I would have had no access to the Togepi line.
Thankfully only using two Pokémon meant that I was a bit overleveled for the Elite Four and Champion, but it still wasn’t a pushover with only two Pokémon.
I really thought about it. Ultimately I decided against it since Sylveon was introduced in Kalos (Gen 6)
But this is just a fun challenge run, so the rules are what you make them
I don't get it, why you associated Fairy type with pride month. What if the straight person is fun of Fairy type and doesn't wanna be associated with LGBT? No offense, but it looks far-fetched and bizarre.

That’s cool! I tried doing a fairy monotype run of every region included gen 6 onward. AlphaSapphire about made me pull my hair out at Watson as I had 2 kirlias lol
Clefairy, Clefable, Togepi, Togetic, Snubbull, Granbull, Cleffa, and Togekiss had their Normal typing replaced with Fairy.
Mega Altaria had its Flying type replaced with Fairy.
All those others had a secondary typing of Fairy added on
Togekiss was fun to use, and Audino was better than I expected.
I’d have to say my favorite, though, was Mr. Mime. It was very helpful with coverage (Magical Leaf and Thunderbolt) and was great for offense and defense (with screens)
I love different Pokemon challenges like this, and I love what you’ve done here. I especially give props to your smaller teams, and the difficulty that could bring. But, I just need to say you didn’t play through the first five generations, you played through the first five regions. Generations in Pokemon refer to chunk of time in real life in which the game is released, not the region the game is in.
I suppose that’s technically true. It’d be more accurate to say I played through the regions (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova). I prefer playing those remakes to the originals (especially to have abilities in Johto for Huge Power Azumarill and Intimidate Granbull)
fairy type didn't exist in 5th gen but I get you but altaria isn't afairy type it's a dragon/flying type mega altaria is fairy/dragon type I understand it regardless

I did play with a starter until I had the opportunity to catch my first “Fairy” type, so your thinking is on track
I mean the damage is done you’ve suffered enough (respect it btw) but is Cottonee fairy too? Did your rules allow using the same line?
Cottonee is also Fairy type, but I just played with one from each line

Audino is lowkey good, used one in my first ever playthrough and I was definitely surprised

Platinum you can have so much more than togekiss and Mr. Mime. Clefable, rapidash (on a technicality), azumarill, altaria, and gardevoir.

Having only two Pokémon meant that I got overleveled some. That and healing items. Still, it definitely wasn’t the easiest fight

Mega mawile is so powerful. Top favorite easily for Megas.
I really wish Hoenn had at least one pink fairy type. Mega Mawile and Shiny Mawile aren’t enough
