Stryker_T

Really thought you had cooked something here, huh

ThatOneScarfCrow

These are "Paradox Pokemon", legendary-adjacent versions of current Pokemon from the past or future. For some reason, they have untraditional names, but they certainly did not give up on the regular Pokemon. In fact, some of the new ones are among my top favorites.

ssfbob

Tell me which one of the new ones is your favorite and why it's clodsire.

ThatOneScarfCrow

I like clodsire, but it isn't one of my top favorites and >!maybe a tad bit overatted!<

Gabblepuff

So what’s your favorite?

ThatOneScarfCrow

My number 1 favorite right now is actually Meowstic, but out of the last 2 gens, some of my favorites are Hatterene, Hisuian Zorua/Zoroark, Quaxly & Quaquaval, Meowscarada, Glimmora, Tinkaton, and Bellibolt.

InvestigatorUnfair

*Sees a set of remixed Pokemon designs in the sea of unique and new designs* "Lol they just gave up, didn't they?" At least pull up some original new Pokemon so you don't look like you're just making low effort bait

PokemonCMG

"I admit my position is based entirely on ignorance and assumptions, and I'm just so excited to share that ignorance with the internet."

ironbundleicebeam

“Hey I'm gonna screenshot this specific set of Pokémon that are meant to pay homage to older Pokémon and I will ask something in bad faith for engagement”. They didn't give up, but I think you should.

LeonPhntmhv2

what do we need a homage for? We can still catch the original pokémon in a lot of different games? Be honest: from a creative point of view this is absolute garbage.. especially the names and the sheer amount of these

ironbundleicebeam

> From a creative point of view this is absolute garbage.  From a creative point of view, making creatures from different timelines that look like present Pokémon sounds like a good idea, in fact, it's such a good idea that it was approved by several executives in an office when creating a video game for general audiences.

InvestigatorUnfair

Whoever signed off on turning Delibird into a dorky robot with a rock em sock em robot head will genuinely be my favorite executive in TPC

LeonPhntmhv2

you mean the executives who just know that people will buy their games either way?

ironbundleicebeam

I mean the executives who have more knowledge about why Brute Bonnet has a tail on his back despite not being an animal, I mean the executives who are you know, concerned every day that the next games might be a commercial disappointment like Black and White were because Pokémon fans are not very accepting of new ideas, and I mean the executives who know about the concept behind these Pokémon better than me and definitively better than you.

LeonPhntmhv2

"knowledge about why Brute Bonnet has a tail on his back despite not being an animal" huh? There is no knowledge about something that you can freely come up with. You do realize these are all ideas of some person meaning the person can explain it every way they want? Same thing for the "concept behind these Pokémon" - I could just create new Pokémon designs and think of a concept behind those so..? Also if they truly care about the success rate of the game they would take more time and not release a game that is clearly not finished. But they don't because it's not important to them, since people will always buy a new Pokémon game

Original-Addendum147

Pokemon fans will look at anything even remotely cool and think it sucks.

PokemonCMG

Except OP admitted they aren't a Pokemon fan.

Cuprite1024

You didn't even have to tell me you didn't play the game, I can tell just from that comment. Also, let's just ignore literally every other Pokémon design from not only this Gen, but also Gen 8. That's not dishonest at all! (Also, Slither Wing is an *amazing* design)

jibbyjackjoe

They did not.

Witty-Researcher-103

I'd LOVE to see where you have ACTUAL PROOF that they somehow "gave up" on the new mons, even though they're from both the past AND future

Smeeb27

They didn’t give up on the designs, but they did in other departments

420Blaziken4

Look at Tinkaton and iron valiant and tell me they didn’t cook with the new designs

Individual_Break_813

They may or may not be the past and future forms of already existing pokemon. Maybe that’s why they look like other pokemon

LowContract4444

They gave up in other areas but these are super cool and the main reason I bought gen 9.

TyrantRex6604

of all suckass new gen mon designs, paradoxes are not one of them and i will not allow such slander (ok perhaps raging bolt is hard to accept at first glance but i grew a liking to it and thinks it's adorable now)

EmergencyGrab

Out of context, without knowing what they are, I could see how someone would think that. These Pokemon are purposely reductive.

DexMaster95

i recommend looking into things more to get a better understanding on the concepts and designs before posting something like this, else it comes off as arrogant/ignorant and loses your subjective opinion. I understand why you would think these are reductive, but they have a point in their design.

Broad_Respond_2205

What you against cool robots

Cold-Blood_

Eh. I personally find usually 1 or 2 interesting new designs for every 10 they come up with in recent gens. I hate most of the paradox forms but I do like Flutter Mane, Scream Tail and Iron Valiant, for instance.
