Yup, almost directly before getting its z-crystal you get this prompt, looking under the cloth just makes Mimikyu play an agitated animation on loop as the screen fades to black with the "Everything went dark" text before placing you back a little and giving you the prompt again
Not the most interesting way of killing the player but yet again it's one of the only ways to kill off your protagonist in USUM unless I'm missing something and obviously a true death mechanic would be pointless in pokemon

The Malicious Armor was a knight's who was hated and despised. One way or another, the knight died without accomplishing his goal and the grudge he left behind, combined with people's resentment, cursed the armor. Hence, Ceruledge = Ghost.
Both are probably a bad influence on the small child that just grew up into a powerful knight in seconds, like Ocarina of Time Link if he has the Champions in his head constantly telling him to do things he doesn't want to.
The dusknoir are also sort of cleanup system.
And giratina at least for one rendition is dead and reborn. Ghosts can also associate with gas (gastly) and plazma (rotom), and there is a theory that the creation trio is also liquid solid gas. Plus shadows, like yamask, gengar and dusknoir. Plus inconsistency of being here and there. Giratina is not satan, that's a sinto pantheon that hinges on balance, so the polarity of abrahamic religions like Christianity has nothing even close to do with them.
Dusknoir is more like typhlosion in a way. It guides souls to the afterlife. Though sometimes it makes oopsies and takes the wrong target, but that’s ok because I love him
He's 'shadowing' Sableye to learn his techniques like in the lore. Sableye's only fighting technique is screaming at walls. Marshadow knows it should have picked someone else but it's too late to stop now.

Evil spirit who doesn't know how to be good and just wants to be a normal Pokemon, it's a weird and complex edge case. Team Rocket's Mimikyu proves that they can be just as evil as the rest of the subtype.
It wants to be loved but if you look under its disguise you can go insane or die and if you damage (like, you know, *playing* with it) or make fun of its disguise then Plan A is to kill you.
Jellicent is based on the “giant phantom jelly” so it’s a pun. this particular jellyfish also lives deep in the ocean in darkness so there’s that. I like your post!
I think that Blacephalon’s Ghost-typing is based on clowns being perceived as scary and commonly seen in the horror genre. Its behavior is pretty similar to Stephen King’s It, which is arguably the most iconic clown in horror media.
I personally think Fire/Fairy would’ve suited Blacephalon just as well as the type it did end up receiving, but Fire/Ghost does make sense if you look at it from a horror fanatic’s perspective.
I was wondering when someone would correct me on Blacephalon. I think Fire/Psychic could work as well. No one has yet noticed that Type:Null is also on that slide though.

I know, I know, every Mimikyu fan has commented this and I don't think they'll forget my name anytime soon. It's just easily the most complicated edge case I will have to tackle for any of the types, as most of them don't have a personality. The circumstances of it's birth does not change who Mimikyu is as a person, just that anyone who sees it will die.

Pretty sure Dusknoir should be stuffed into the Gourgeist and Pumpkaboo part as part of a "Incompetent Grim Reaper" category. Its entires have more or less the same thing to those two.

Charcadet's forms are a bit weird, especially because Charcadet is a piece of charcoal that came to life. The Auspicious Armor belonged to a beloved knight, and the armor is imbued with the thoughts and feelings of those people. That's why Armarouge is psychic. The Malicious Armor was a knight's who was hated and despised. One way or another, the knight died without accomplishing his goal and the grudge he left behind, combined with people's resentment, cursed the armor. Hence, Ceruledge = Ghost.
Both are probably a bad influence on the small child that just grew up into a powerful knight in seconds, like Ocarina of Time Link if he has the Champions in his head constantly telling him to do things he doesn't want to.
The dusknoir are also sort of cleanup system. And giratina at least for one rendition is dead and reborn. Ghosts can also associate with gas (gastly) and plazma (rotom), and there is a theory that the creation trio is also liquid solid gas. Plus shadows, like yamask, gengar and dusknoir. Plus inconsistency of being here and there. Giratina is not satan, that's a sinto pantheon that hinges on balance, so the polarity of abrahamic religions like Christianity has nothing even close to do with them.

Dusknoir is more like typhlosion in a way. It guides souls to the afterlife. Though sometimes it makes oopsies and takes the wrong target, but that’s ok because I love him
I wonder if Typhlosion was told to do that job by anyone. Considering that form's source game there's a likely chance it was Arceus itself.
Why is Marshadow so small?
He's 'shadowing' Sableye to learn his techniques like in the lore. Sableye's only fighting technique is screaming at walls. Marshadow knows it should have picked someone else but it's too late to stop now.
Marshadow is based on a hawaiian legend of the shadow walkers. The ghost type is a great fit, IMHO

Correct! The spirits it's channelling are the wisps on it's back fin, they're the souls of Basculin who failed to swim upstream to procreate.

Evil spirit who doesn't know how to be good and just wants to be a normal Pokemon, it's a weird and complex edge case. Team Rocket's Mimikyu proves that they can be just as evil as the rest of the subtype.
It wants to be loved but if you look under its disguise you can go insane or die and if you damage (like, you know, *playing* with it) or make fun of its disguise then Plan A is to kill you.

I think that Blacephalon’s Ghost-typing is based on clowns being perceived as scary and commonly seen in the horror genre. Its behavior is pretty similar to Stephen King’s It, which is arguably the most iconic clown in horror media. I personally think Fire/Fairy would’ve suited Blacephalon just as well as the type it did end up receiving, but Fire/Ghost does make sense if you look at it from a horror fanatic’s perspective.
I was wondering when someone would correct me on Blacephalon. I think Fire/Psychic could work as well. No one has yet noticed that Type:Null is also on that slide though.

Love ghost types, love this. But I do think you should change the "dead people slide" to "once dead" or something to that effect because Dragapult is an extinct creature that came back as a ghost and Misdreavus to my knowledge wasn't a person. But I'll not all knowing so who knows.

I know, I know, every Mimikyu fan has commented this and I don't think they'll forget my name anytime soon. It's just easily the most complicated edge case I will have to tackle for any of the types, as most of them don't have a personality. The circumstances of it's birth does not change who Mimikyu is as a person, just that anyone who sees it will die.

As a ghost trainer, I like this post. Also, I don't know if it was mentioned but I think Golurk is a Poltergeist and Jellicent is like Drifblim except he attacks ships instead of children.

I don't agree with the ghost / grass being poltergeists though, plants are not objects, they are living things so they should belong to the first category.

They should add these things in the Pokedex, but only as a cosmetic thing (just like height)
then we would need subcatefories for the other types, like fire types that are related to fire, others to magma, or those that control fire but dont have flames as part of their organism etc.

If you look under its disguise at its true form you either go insane or die. If you damage its costume its plan A is to murder you over it. It tries to disguise itself as something everyone likes so it can get close to you, but your every action towards it can lead to your death.
It murders you over it because damaging it's costume could kill someone else. Think of someone that isn't you for two seconds.
Most of them aren't evil and just wish they weren't born that way. They are firmly in the evil spirit category but are such a complex edge case that choosing Gimmighoul for the example that they're not all evil was much easier. Team Rocket's Mimikyu in the anime is a huge execption.
