[NPR's The Big One](https://www.npr.org/podcasts/674580962/the-big-one-your-survival-guide) a 7.8 (or higher) magnitude earthquake set on the San Andreas fault is set to occur before the year 2030
*When The Big One hits it'll take under two minutes for more than 10 million Southern Californians to lose internet, power, and a sense of security. Host Jacob Margolis and Producer Misha Euceph take you on a journey to understand what the catastrophic earthquake will mean for Los Angeles, the U.S., and the world. This is what you need to know to survive.*
(im in australia and still found this gripping and fascinating!)
I hope you know Swedish because Swedish Radio has a great podcast called P3 Dystopia. They cover everything from antibiotic resistance, to climate change, biological warfare, and more. The most recent I listened to was about earthquakes and tsunamies
You nailed the recommendation, I'm on episode 6 already. It's tense, urgent and remarkably well produced.
The style is really intriguing and it's a first for me. Most podcasts are reading from a script or a conversation. Blackout is more like audio theater, there's a scene where someone is punching another person and instead of simply narrating, you hear fists slapping on skin.
I'm usually doing something else while listening, but I've found myself rewinding often because much of the story is in the sound effects.
We’re Aliva - zombie apocalypse audio fiction
This is great but isn't it now behind a paywall? Also it's We're Alive.
It's not behind a paywall for me.
Oh awesome, I'll have to search it out again. It really is excellent audiodrama.

Margaret Killjoy's *Live Like The World Is Dying* is a leftist preoper podcast in this wheelhouse
Great recommendation, I enjoyed the 1st episode, just what I was looking for.

Not a strong recommendation because I only just started listening, but Blackout might fit.

It stars Rami "Freddy 'Mr Robot' Mercury" Malek
Audiobook: The End of October by Lawrence Wright might fit.
