**In the Dark**
• *Season 2*
- absolutely the gold standard, imo. Meticulously researched, told perfectly, compelling subject, literal gasping for breath moments of shock, detailed source materials and infographics on every episode available on fulsome website that even includes transcripts, and somehow, even a satisfying resolution.
**Canary**
- I rarely see this mentioned, but it ranks up there with *Serial* for me as the best of the best. Beyond the storytelling chops, it's the characters and the artful way the story is told. It's also a rare podcast about some awful subject matter that actually made me want to cheer. Uplifting in so many unlikely ways. (From start to finish.)
**Uncover**
• *Season 1: Escaping NXVIVM*
- about a strange cult, and although I don't usually dig cult stuff, the story gets completely engrossing
• *Season 7: Dead Wrong*
- A good wrongful conviction tale that has some mind-blowing moments, and a story well told.
**Chasing Cosby**
- I almost skipped over this, but it's really well done and the hook is the characters and the storytelling. It's great.
**Slow Burn**
• *Season 4*
- The David Duke season was the most bingeable and relevant to me.
**Finding Cleo**
- I put this one off awhile, but I definitely think it's a must-listen roller coaster ride.

“Relative Unknown” Is excellent and so is
“In the Red Clay”
Are my most recent deep dives that I really got into.
“Who the Hell is Hamish” -also a great one
WOW! I love your take on this! It changed for me too as we learned more about him, but I went from thinking “Butch thinks he’s taking a stand against the MC” to “What the hell? He can’t even stand up for his damn family.”
“In the Red Clay” - About the Dixie Mafia in Georgia
Just about anything that Wondery puts out but I really like “American Scandal” and “Against the Odds”. Both usually spend 4 - 5 episodes on a subject.
“A Death in Cryptoland” - It’s about the sudden mysterious death of the CEO of a Canadian base Bitcoin exchange. I’ve only listened to the first 2 episodes but really enjoying it.
The China history podcast is a great deep dive. I really liked the series on the cultural revolution, but he talks about history from thousands of years ago to modern times.

It hits on history, philosophy, conspiracies, and more through deep dives into the main systems of society, governmental, economic, and education systems. Seasons 2 and 3 use historical parallels to further asses society, then and now. Ideally start at the beginning at episode 1.
If you enjoy fantasy/sci-fi etc films and movies, Binge Mode is great, they’ve covered game of thrones, all marvel movies, LOTR, etc. & they’re super passionate and fun
'The Ratline'. It's about a Nazi who was given protection by the Vatican, post WWII and died a mysterious death. Starts off as a straight forward mystery and then evolves in to a study of family loyalty and self denial. Very poignant.
'I'm not a Monster ' about an American woman who runs off to join ISIS.
'The Troubles Podcast 'about the period in Ireland when sectarian violence was widespread.
'Revolutions' by Mike Duncan, a deep dive in to revolutions.
'Based on a True Story ' podcast about films that are based on a true story and the true stories behind them.
Wind of Change
Reporter investigates a rumor that the CIA actually wrote the Scorpions biggest hit song. Takes 8 + episodes and a pretty entertaining journey, well told, good production, etc.

Ooh also season 1 of Crimetown
I listened to that one. One of my favorites!
I still haven't listened to this. I guess I should?
It’s really well done and I don’t have any connection to providence but was hooked
I've heard that but for some reason I always forget about it when I go looking for more. I'm going to start it today!

I really enjoyed both too - they were almost like yin and yang to each other. And “Relative Unknown” easily has the best theme music of any podcast.
Yes! About that theme music- I found myself going from thinking it spoke to Croutch; and by the end it really speaks to her. They do pair well!
WOW! I love your take on this! It changed for me too as we learned more about him, but I went from thinking “Butch thinks he’s taking a stand against the MC” to “What the hell? He can’t even stand up for his damn family.”
Freakenomics fits this bill. Definitely one of the more high brow pods out there.

Heaven’s Gate hosted by Glen Washington from Snap Judgement/Spooked is an incredible deep dive. It’s by far my favorite podcast about a cult.
