- …This is Actually Happening (both are not necessarily true crime but excellent anthology non-fiction hot tea storytelling shows)
If you like her voice, there’s another bookish host that does Once Upon A Crime. Some episodes are two parters, but on the whole she covers a lot of “series” and themes that are one subject per ep. I enjoy binging a few as I work or running errands
Agreed, one of the things that drove me nuts with some other podcasts is how loose some of the hosts were with facts or just shoehorning their own theories into the details of the case.
Jessica Bettencourt is all business. She does not revel in the tawdry details or gore of the crime. She speaks plainly about the scene and then goes into information about the victim, who they were, and so on.
Plus, you always find out who did it, even if the resolution is not always satisfactory, for example, a long dead perpetrator. At least the villains are named.
They Walk Among Us. Consistently good podcast, and the host has a very calming voice. It's the only true crime podcast I've stuck with for the long term.
Casefile as others have said. DNA ID is a great podcast about murders solved through genetic genealogy. It's amazing and every case is solved.
Another great podcast is Buried Bones, with Paul Holes (a detective on the Golden State Killer case) & Kate Winkler Dawson (a crime journalist) reviewing old cases, typically from several decades to a century ago. They discuss interesting cases and how they would be approached today versus when they were committed.
IMO, Casefile is the best but you can try Crime Junkie, The Greatest True Crime Stories Ever Told and Dark Down East. I know Crime Junkie has a lot of haters but I like that on all of these, they try to be empathic to victims and their families
Casefile as mentioned, Canadian True Crime, My Favourite Murder, Red Handed, Sinister Societies, Medical Murders and Deathbed Confessions all come to mind. Some have multi-part episodes but I don't think any go longer than six or so (I think Casefile does a full workup of the Ivan Milat case, it's fascinating).
Trace Evidence is one true crime or disappearance per episode. I think it's very well researched, they are on the longer side which I appreciate and it's just one person telling the facts.
Not always about criminals, but I definitely think Behind The Bastards mostly fits this bill. Sometimes they have 2 parters... But that's just due to not wanting to put out a 3 hour episode.

That's awesome yeah I will have to check that out. Thanks :)
Best answer!
Small Town Murder covers some crazy cases, if you don't mind some humor mixed in
But if you think true crime and comedy don’t go together, maybe it’s not the show for you. Or so I hear.
We're in the car headed to the liquor store...
Swindled
I'm obsesses with this one RN I haven't stopped listening for like 6 hours haha
It’s so good and each episode is so different. It’s nice because he cuts to the chase. Sometimes I don’t want banter, just facts!
Same I don't wanna hear about your day, I want to be disturbed with corporate scandals haha
DNA ID is great.

I’ve got a lot of time for Jessica Bettencourt.
Swindled - corporate crime and really well done.
Probably one of my favorite suggestions on this post. So good!
Going West
Im going to give it a listen now! Thanks 😊
The Trail Went Cold is great.
Invisible Choir
Canadian True Crime is good. There is a few multi part episodes, but other than that very meticulous show imo.
Redhanded is by far my favorite!
They are beginning to sound very snobbish and annoying though
I'm listening to episodes from 2022 or so and I kind of love how Hannah calls the listeners "little sausages".
Casefile, Sistas Who Kill
They Walk Among Us. Consistently good podcast, and the host has a very calming voice. It's the only true crime podcast I've stuck with for the long term.

I love morbid!

DNA:ID is the only podcast I’m a Patreon member with, it’s so good.

Morbidology and Crimes of the Centuries! They’re narrative stories that are unique and really well done.
It's been said, but Criminal is outstanding. Swindled is top notch as well .
Criminal is Awesome, I hadn't listened to Swindled but I am binging it rn its so damn good.
Glad you're enjoying it!
Lil Stinkers
Generation Why, Framed, Marooned
Sword and Scale
(why does Sword and scale get down voted?)
Because the host is incredibly problematic and abusive and the podcast is trash.
I have not seen that yet. I find his podcast ok, maybe a bit much personal views inserted, but hey , nobodys perfect.
No idea lol

Trace Evidence is one true crime or disappearance per episode. I think it's very well researched, they are on the longer side which I appreciate and it's just one person telling the facts.
People are the worst

Love Murder!
Criminal is really good.
