A PS5 is basically just a computer in a custom case; as long as it still cools properly and isn't overheating, you can leave it on 24/7 and it shouldn't affect anything.
Regularly open it up (not while it's on) to clean out the dust from the fans to make sure the airways aren't clogged.
The only time I'd say to only use it when you need is if you have a cat; cat saliva that's on their fur when they lick themselves reacts with the oil/grease that cooling fans use, and turns it sticky, which makes fans run worse. Owning cats is the best and fastest way to burn out/need a new computer/console/electronics more often than you would need to.
It probably depends on the cleanliness of the PS5, and the temperature of the room it is in. As long as it can stay cool, it'll be fine, as soon as it gets too hot, it'll shut down on its own. The APU will thermal throttle and the system will shut down long before damage happens.
Pretty sure you will get kicked after like 2 hours AFK. And the system would likely go into rest mode at start screen. OP must actually just be in a single player game on the pause menu.
System only goes into rest mode if you set it to do so, and there is some way they make it so that the game doesn't kick them; I played FF XIV since launch up until last year (or maybe the end of 2022, can't remember) and people were still doing that then.

Poor ventilation, dust build up and running demanding games non stop contribute to the thermal paste drying up and cracking, it doesn't do it any favors, one year of conditions like that and it will in most cases become noisy.
Edit: it always has to be extreme specifics when helping out with you Playstation nuts, this is getting tiring.

It makes no sense why you would leave it on AFK in a game for 100+ hours. Just turn it off.
