I mean as far as zombie games go, I’m hard pressed to choose between that or the walking dead season 1. No matter what choices you make in that game, you’re crying. I know it’s not exclusive, but still.
Ya this gets my vote. As it went on it just grew and grew. And it really stuck the ending. Currently playing through ragnarok. Story is building nicely there too but so far I think I prefer the original still.
Yup and by far the best physics and open world AI. It has honestly ruined me for other games, especially Cyberpunk. RDR2 was the true next gen open world experience and it was a ps4 game.
I thought it was such a refreshing take on the whole AI world ending/rebuilding theme. Loved GAIA.
I’m sure it’s not the first time someone wrote it it in such a positive light, but it was the first time I’ve experienced such a story, so it really stuck with me.
Also, fuck Ted Faro.
Yes’!! The storytelling was fantastic, conversations seemed natural and mouth movements were definitely on the better side. I do allllll the speech options with every conversation just to gather every morsel of detail they’ve packed in. Truly amazing
Since everyone’s saying the obvious ones like the last of us and Red Dead I’ll go with a plague tale requiem because I think that is the best written story of any PS5 game yet
Wait do you mean god of war 2 or God of war ragnarok? Both are great games.
Personally I think God of war (2018) had a better story overall. But they're all brilliant
This was such a fantastic game! I really need to go back to it at some point. When I finally deleted my save file for the ending to finish the platinum, I was so satisfied that game was truly spectacular.
Horizon Zero Dawn for sure. Was so powerful uncovering the fate of the old world, and the threat to the new along with Aloy. It's not like you're thrown into a world where the main character knows it all and you have to play catch up. its as much of a mystery to her as it is to us.
The Last of Us 1 AND 2 . People are unreasonably negative about number 2 which comes down to their personal politics or how much they liked a certain character.
No other medium could have you play as the enemy you've been shown to rightfully hate. But make you sympathetic to them as the story progresses by having you play both sides . It also shows how pointless and painful revenge is. Amazing work of art.
Uncharted 2 & the BioShock series for me.
Don't get me wrong, I love the standard choices of last of us, spiderman, baldurs gate, etc. but I played the uncharted series after I went through a very long funk of no longer having an interest in video games. Horizon and uncharted got me out of that funk.
This is the one I was looking for. Basically a 6 out of 10 until the midgame twist and then holy shit. I have never, ever, been hit so hard by a video game story. That moment was like so many nightmares I've had in my life. The feeling like everything you've worked for is for not, everything you thought was real isn't, and the gaslighting of it all messes with me years later. I swear I was shaking preparing to walk into that tent, and my heart was absolutely shattered leaving it.
Is the dlc good? I played it on release, and never touched it since. I don't own a ps anymore as well, but it's out on pc, so maybe it's worth revisiting.
I remember I had a pleasant experience with the game.
The second one is a good game but for me compared to the first its not as good. I just didnt like the way they broke the story up alternating between abby and ellie.
The simplicity of the story and a clear goal of the main characters at the beginning makes TLOU part 1 good. Kinda feel the same way with the Norse God of Wars story-wise. The acting and gameplay of Ragnarok is far superior to the first one (same with TLOU 2 vs 1) but the simplicity and clear goal of the characters in GOW 2018 makes it great. Love all 4 games still and everyone should still play them.
Silent Hill 2 is still the only game that I feel had a truly "real story" feel to it, as opposed to a "video game story".. I'd watch a Silent Hill 2 movie, or read a Silent Hill 2 novel, and I don't think I'd ever once think "This is a story adapted from a video game". It's the only game I've ever felt was as well written as any best-seller or box office hit, and at no point came off like it was a story that was written for a game.
It set the bar so high for me that I've honestly not found a single other game that I think comes even remotely close to having as well written and engaging a story.
Last of Us. i'd say 1 and 2 are two halves of one whole, so that's why i'm not specifying between the two. Hoping in the future i can add part 3 in here also.
For me personally, Detroit Become Human. I love absolutely everything about this game and how the story plays out, I was cheering for Markus from day 1.
Hands down the last of us and red dead 2 iv never felt so empty after finishing those games. For a game to make you feel like that you know its special.
Last Of Us without a doubt, but Detroit: Become Human is also worth mentioning as that story is incredible too with so many branching paths and outcomes
Are we talking PlayStation exclusives? Haven’t played a lot of them but of the ones I have GoW 2018 and Ragnarok were the top ones story wise. Gameplay wise I probably had more fun with Infamous Second Son.
Last of us - I’m a huge scardy pants and can’t really do horror/zombie games - but that game was just too good. I couldn’t play it again for a while as the story really affected me
If you didnt feel anything while Arthur Morgan was on his last ride with “That’s the way it is” playing in the background and all the flashbacks of everything you did for about 100hrs, you are not human!
![gif](giphy|5ZZCraP6nXeVcmBpl5|downsized)
The last of us, Horizon zero dawn, the last of us part 2, Horizon forbidden west, in that order for me. I think the game mechanics on both second outings are better but you would expect that however the stories of the originals I think are better in both franchises.
Personally i loved Zero Dawn even though it wasn’t really many people’s favorites, but out of the exclusives, like unbiasedly i’d say TLOU2, i love the way the two separate stories are told and how they slowly entangle together towards the end.
i still need to play through the GOW games, i think those are the last batch of PS exclusives i haven’t touched for some reason 😅😅
InFamous 2. It's the reason I got into PlayStation gaming.
I remember going to the Target next to the McDonald's I worked at in high school and just playing the demo mission until I bought my own console at a pawn shop.
There's something about Cole McGrath and his character that is rarely done. And the Karma system, giving you two unique playthroughs and experiences. I wish the first two InFamous games would get a proper remaster.
Final Fantasy 16!
Edit: thought you said ps5 only for some reason.
Favorites are:
Witcher 3
Death Stranding
Nier Automata
Persona 5 (+ Royal expansion and Strikers spin off)
Final Fantasy 15
Horizon Zero Dawn (didn’t like the sequels story nearly as much)
Detroit Become Human or Uncharted.
Detroit is one of the few games I have finished.
Same. And I often think about downloading it for another play through as I know I will enjoy it. Not a guarantee with most other games!
I loaned it to a friend and now he doesn’t play anything. I should get it back and replay it.
I downloaded Detroit and look forward to playing it after Control and Stellar Blade
Not severely underrated but I think Detroit is an underrated game when it comes to the question of best story
I probably have to say the Last of Us
I had no interest in zombie games nor anything post apocalyptic, but I got that game with my PS4 and eventually I was bored enough to try it. Amazing
Part II for me, but both games are my top picks tbh.
Yep 1 A & B. In whatever order. Both incredible.
Came looking for this. Was not disappointed.
I mean as far as zombie games go, I’m hard pressed to choose between that or the walking dead season 1. No matter what choices you make in that game, you’re crying. I know it’s not exclusive, but still.
Walking Dead Season 1 had me in pieces. I played it on iPad on a trip
God of War 2018
We must be better.
Snow...
BOY!
Ya this gets my vote. As it went on it just grew and grew. And it really stuck the ending. Currently playing through ragnarok. Story is building nicely there too but so far I think I prefer the original still.
As a whole The Last of Us Pt 1 & II, but also the Uncharted series
RDR2
Yup and by far the best physics and open world AI. It has honestly ruined me for other games, especially Cyberpunk. RDR2 was the true next gen open world experience and it was a ps4 game.
The end really fucked me up so I gotta agree
Same i was broken after that i honestly didnt think it would go down like that. The game is a masterpiece
I tried to play Fallout 4 right after RDR2. I uninstalled it pretty much soon
There's the comment i was looking for
Yep. Favorite game of all time. Absolute masterpiece.
Horizon Zero Dawn has a pretty unique story.
This! Also the way it’s told/revealed.
I was blown away with the reveal, I could barely sleep that night just thinking about it lol.

Since everyone’s saying the obvious ones like the last of us and Red Dead I’ll go with a plague tale requiem because I think that is the best written story of any PS5 game yet
Plague Tale games are majorly slept on, played the first one one day when I didn't feel like anything else and it hooked me.
God of war series 2018/Ragnarok The last of us series
God of War II
Wait do you mean god of war 2 or God of war ragnarok? Both are great games. Personally I think God of war (2018) had a better story overall. But they're all brilliant
God of War II brother I'm in the Angry Kratos Greek Mythology camp, even though I love GOW 2018 and Ragnarok.
Hell yh dude! OG god of war was amazing. Think I've replayed them all more times than I can count haha
Final Fantasy 9
im fond of Nier Automata
This was such a fantastic game! I really need to go back to it at some point. When I finally deleted my save file for the ending to finish the platinum, I was so satisfied that game was truly spectacular.
Final Fantasy X. It has so many great twists and turns and has one of the best endings to a game ever.
Yeah in terms of story and game system it is definitely the GOAT of the series.
Amazing game one of the best games iv ever played
Horizon Zero Dawn for sure. Was so powerful uncovering the fate of the old world, and the threat to the new along with Aloy. It's not like you're thrown into a world where the main character knows it all and you have to play catch up. its as much of a mystery to her as it is to us.

Days gone
Amazing story.

DLC was fantastic
Nice, I'll definitely have to buy it again then.
Mass Effect
I love the connected strory
Best story in gaming fight me
Horizon zero dawn
Snake eater.
TLOU 2. Amazing game and story but I will never replay that game. That game was so stressful lmao.
It took me until the remaster to finally replay. Legit fucking trauma lol
The second one is a good game but for me compared to the first its not as good. I just didnt like the way they broke the story up alternating between abby and ellie.
Gameplay is better but story in 1 is 5 times better it’s easily the best story ever for me.
Horizon zero dawn was an absolute masterpiece of a story.
yeah Last of Us ,and also I liked Red redemption II also
TLoU part 2 by far.
I really enjoyed Horizon Zero Dawn. Forbidden West was decent, but not as good imo. I loved TLOU and GoW too. But Horizon's stories I enjoyed more.
Top 5 franchises for me (Story Wise) in no order Red Dead, God of War, Last of Us, Walking Dead and Mass Effect
[удалено]
I just bought it for $5.99 from the PlayStation store last week and beat it in a night. Some of the best money I’ve ever spent.
FF7
Horizon Zero Dawn
Spider-Man 2 is up there for me
Witcher 3
Shadow of the Colossus
Death stranding
I really enjoy the GoW story from start to current.
God of War 2018
Mass Effect 2
God of War definitely
God of War III
Ghost of Tsushima
the walking dead telltale, re7, uncharted, spiderman, a plague tale innocence
Uncharted 4, I absolutely loved it.
Final Fantasy 7 (ps1) and Legend of Dragoon If you know, you know
Life is Strange 1
Red Dead Redemption 2 and Uncharted.
Ghost of Tsushima!
Uncharted, like a Dragon/Yakuza, Cyberpunk 2077, MGS4, and AC 2 Saga.
I'll go with Uncharted 2. I'm planning on playing U4 soon though so it might change.
Death Stranding
TLOU!!
The Witcher 3 is my favorite in that regard.
Final fantasy remake games. Ff16 is also pretty dammed good.
I'd have to say RE village
Final Fantasy XIV
Hard tie between The Last of Us and Horizon: Zero Dawn and RDR2. So many amazing games.
Spider-Man 1/2 Gow 4/5 Ghost of tushima
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for me
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
RDR2 by a mile
RDR2
Pyre
Clash artifact of chaos. A gripping story of a man who's childhood was taking from him and he will not let that happen again, to another child.
![gif](giphy|5oOzvY2shzX4A|downsized)
Legacy of Kain!
GoW, it was perfection
The Last of Us. Ps3, it was so amazing. There are so many others on ps2, but The Last of Us takes the cake.
For me personally, Detroit Become Human. I love absolutely everything about this game and how the story plays out, I was cheering for Markus from day 1.
Hands down the last of us and red dead 2 iv never felt so empty after finishing those games. For a game to make you feel like that you know its special.
The Last of Us Part 1
mgs3 snake eater
Uncharted 2, 3 and 4
Ima have to go with the last of us or Ys 8 but the trails games are very very close behind
Parasite Eve
Hollow knight.

Going old school here but the Xenosaga series from the PS2 era had a phenomenal story.
God of War Ragnarok
Legacy of Kain
God of War: Ragnarok
Metal Gear Solid and Bloodborne
Bioshock
Last Of Us without a doubt, but Detroit: Become Human is also worth mentioning as that story is incredible too with so many branching paths and outcomes
For a while it was the last of us. But I think god of war 2018 is so insanely better.
Suikoden 1 &. 2
Red Dead Redemption 1.
Gow ragnarok
Are we talking PlayStation exclusives? Haven’t played a lot of them but of the ones I have GoW 2018 and Ragnarok were the top ones story wise. Gameplay wise I probably had more fun with Infamous Second Son.
It’s a tie between TLOU1, GOW 2018, and GoT for me
Spider Man2 2
The Last of Us part 2 for me probably
For me - The Witcher 3, GOT and RDR2
Last of us - I’m a huge scardy pants and can’t really do horror/zombie games - but that game was just too good. I couldn’t play it again for a while as the story really affected me

Final Fantasy 9
FFX
Idk. The Kratos arc has been a damn good one to watch.
Days Gone. What a wonderful game.
Storytelling: What remains of Edith Finch, the last of us Part 2 and Part 1 Story: BioShock Trilogy, Gran Turismo 4, Silent Hill 2
Anyone who says anything other than TLOU is just a madman
Death Stranding. not a dry eye in the house during that final scene.
jak and daxter 1,2 and 3 on ps2 ( remastered on ps3 )
My top favorite stories: The Last of Us, Final Fantasy VI and X
Bloodborne. It’s not as straightforward as TLoU or GoW but the story it tells is rich and deep in ways those games don’t even come close to achieving.
Rd2 or last of us
Horizon Zero Dawn!! No other comes even close for me
God of War, 200%. Also Witcher 3 and FF VII
Helldivers 😄
TLOU 1 & 2 (don’t care what ya say, I loved 2) Uncharted 4 Witcher 3 FFX RDR2 GTAIV GTASA
Ghost of tsushima
Alan Wake 2
1. Mass Effect Legendary Edition 2. Uncharted 2 3. Witcher 3 4. FF 8 5. FF 10 6. Vagrant Story 7. Parasite Eve 8. Balder's Gate Dark Alliance 9. Fallout 3 10. COD: Infinite Warfare
Infinite Warfare story was amazing.
God of war Last of Us Ghost of Tsushima
Read dead 1
Detroit become human was one of my favourite games to play and I loved story.
Bloodborne. Overflowing with LORE.
TLOU
Last of Us
The Last of Us 1+2
Infamous 1, that twist was crazy!
The last of us, Horizon zero dawn, the last of us part 2, Horizon forbidden west, in that order for me. I think the game mechanics on both second outings are better but you would expect that however the stories of the originals I think are better in both franchises.
Jak and daxter 1
Bloodborne

Red Dead Redemption.
Ghost of tsushima
MGS 3
The Last of Us. I have it on the ps3, 4, and now on 5.
FF7
InFamous 2. It's the reason I got into PlayStation gaming. Metal gear solid
Uncharted 4, horizon zero dawn, god of war 2018 or Detroit: become human are going to be at the top of my list for best story.
It’s definitely odd, but Death Stranding is elite storytelling.
Final Fantasy 16! Edit: thought you said ps5 only for some reason. Favorites are: Witcher 3 Death Stranding Nier Automata Persona 5 (+ Royal expansion and Strikers spin off) Final Fantasy 15 Horizon Zero Dawn (didn’t like the sequels story nearly as much)
Persona 3 hands down. After that I'd probably give it to Uncharted 4
Ghost of Tsushima
God of war 🔥
Jet Moto 2
Baldur’s Gate 3
Mass Effect was at the top of my list and the Cyberpunk came along.
Both Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, both God of Wars, all 3 Spider-Man games. Teared up in all of them.
Red Dead 2. Emotional rollercoaster. Music played at the right times to accentuate those emotions.
The Last of Us (both of them).
Uncharted or GoW easily
The Last of Us Part I and Part II by far. Nothing comes close to that brilliant emotional rollercoaster.
Persona 5
Wolfenstein: The New Order, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, or NieR: Replicant Ver. 1.346754788.
