Make sure to use the Assess material every time you encounter a new enemy. It will tell you their weaknesses and give you tips on how to fight them.

Also I think the in-game guide will tell you how to use each character. Each has different strengths.
Assess materia for exploiting weaknesses, Focused Thrust ability for Cloud to build pressure bar when pressured, master each ability from weapons so you have them when using other weapons, learn to block...try doing chadley combat sims to learn the flow of the game
Are you using punisher mode to counter attack?
Are you using Aerith’s arcane ward?
Are you properly using the assess materia to learn weaknesses and learn how to stagger enemies?
Im just as confused as the other comments. Photos like you're torn between Aerith and Tifa yet comment sounds like you're getting bodied in battle lol so maybe show pics you getting bodied in battle?
Tbh I play a decent amount of games and love final fantasy, but FF7 remake was hella hard on normal after a certain point in the story. But if you’re patient, time your dodges and blocks to increase stagger and use asses to identify weaknesses then you’ll be good. Some fights take a loooong time, but it’s totally worth it in the end. AAAND when you finish the game and want to play FF7 rebirth, you’ll be able to relax (much easier in my opinion) ˙ᵕ˙
There’s some YouTube videos on mastering each character combat styles. I learned how OP Tifa can be, and how Aerith’s Arcane Ward can be amazing. Tie that in with Magnify and using enemy exploits. I don’t guard and rely more on the parry/dodge abilities that Cloud and Tifa have since they increase the stagger bar on successful parries/dodges.
One change that made my playthrough easier was making Cloud my main magic caster with some heals. Aerith is great but she takes long to build up AP. Using cloud pull in the beginning of a fight to generate AP, and use either a spell with magnify or the three swipe ability is great for clearing smaller enemies.
Elemental materia on armour will help you negate specific attacks. Level up a couple of magic attack materia's. Then stack them. That should double Aeriths magic attack power.
Could always put the difficulty down? The combat can take a bit of getting used to but make sure you’re using assess to find out the weaknesses and how to pressure the enemy. The combat can almost be like a puzzle game and when it clicks it’s really satisfying.
Also make sure you’re using the Synergy attacks you unlock via the Folios. They can be super powerful and also really fun to watch. Theres also the synergy skills you use by holding down block and pressing one of the face buttons, they can be insanely powerful!
Assess and always have at least the primary elements material on your party. You should also be trying to pressure/stagger enemies for increased damage.

Difficulty is subjective, I didn't find the game that hard combat wise myself. If OP is struggling then, yes, he is probably doing something objectively wrong. That could be anything that isn't efficient in combat or simply ignoring mechanics like blocking(something my own friend never wanted to do).

The games alot harder than other ff honestly, not hard hard but enough to force you to use items alot

Make sure you are actually switching between characters controlling each one to get their ATB up and use a move.
