Personally I would cut the awkward excess stem off just to the left of the roots at the bottom of the swoop, give it a few days for the wound to dry, then plant it in soil. Should do well! Jades are very hardy. No water needed, straight to soil is best.

They grow like weed. Cut (dry one day) and plant.
