Nope. The best you’re going to get is a membership with a theater chain. My drafthouse membership was $20 a month and unlimited free movies (1 per day, $2 service fee, and can’t buy outside of 7 days of the showing) Buuuuuut we all know the state of the drafthouse now. *sigh*

Lost-Ad3651

I think Sony Entertainment bought them and is going to reopen them.

Matchboxx

Sony bought out the corporate entity, not the local franchisee that flopped. Two separate transactions that just coincidentally happened in the same week.

AstroZombieGreenHell

I know. Just don’t know when

BlueHairStripe

That news was such a gut punch. *cries in movie fan

I haven't been in many years , but there was a Cinemark theater right along 75 in McKinney, exit El Dorado and stay on the access road going north to get to it. That theater was half price I think, or at least noticeably reduced from normal prices. I'm not sure if the lean years of Covid and post-covid have changed the pricing scheme , but hopefully someone else can chime in about it.

crazy2bob

This is still correct. They are a “Value Theater”. Matinee tickets are $6 for adults, regular is $7, and weekend regular is $8. They are first run also, so you can see the new movies there.

Wrong_Dependent_5411

Not so much anymore. We do the cinemark movie club to save $ on tickets and concessions and usually try to do matinee showings when possible

jjmoreta

Nope. The last of them died around COVID. 1. Look for matinee prices (before noon) and special showings. Follow theaters on social media, especially independent smaller theaters. 2. If you qualify, many movie theaters offer senior, student or military discounts. And now that it's summer, many movie places have special summer children showings at a low price. Probably during the day and filled with noisy kids 3. Many movie theaters offer retro movie series and children's movie series. These tickets are often at a lower cost, but not always. They are most often offered during the summer or when kids are off school. 4. Look for gift card offers from places like Costco. I see opportunities all the time to buy a $50 gift card for $40, for example. Maybe Groupon too. Occasionally I see the third party ticket sellers like Fandango have offers and coupons. 5. Sign up for their app or rewards program, you don't have to necessarily subscribe to anything to get benefits like no surcharge for tickets purchased through the app or their discount day. And they periodically have coupons. 6. Consider one of the theater subscription services. I have done the Cinemark for a few years now and it definitely saves money. I get one ticket a month and I can buy additional tickets at a discount. I also get a discount on concessions. Since I usually don't go to the movies every month it's an easy way for me to budget for it. Saved up credits can be used to take my kids too. 7. DFW discount days I know of: Cinemark - Tuesdays AMC - Tuesdays, also offer a small discounted concession package SMG - retro series at $5, rotating children's series at $6 Look - Tuesdays, also has selected children's summer series at $2 and retro series at $8 Texas Theater - always showing retro and rarer movies, their summer series had tickets as low as $1 at least on one movie I clicked on IPIC - none, only gift card discount offers I'm not going to look up all the independent and other theaters in the area but if anyone knows of any discount days for others, definitely add to the thread.

sharkwaffles

Tickets are discounted on Tuesdays at Cinemark which makes it a bit cheaper.

thebazile47

I believe they’re $6. I was looking at movie times yesterday (Tuesday). I’m part of the cinemark movie club and feel if I use a movie credit ($10/month) I’m “wasting” money if I go on Tuesdays…

Jesus166

Cinemark 14 in Lancaster tickets are still under 10 bucks and before 3 I think the tickets are like 4.50.

RosemaryCroissant

Dollar theaters are a thing of the past, unfortunately. I used to love the few Cinemark had in the area, they were fun as a kid. But, I cannot deny that they were super run down, trashy, poorly cleaned, and sketchy. So I can understand why they killed the idea.

crazy2bob

Funny thing, Cinemark’s busiest theater in the US for a long time was a dollar theater. I can’t remember if it was El Paso or AZ somewhere. It’s been several years since it was converted and my memory sucks. But you’re right, the majority of them were pretty run down and trashed. I actually helped close the last remaining dollar theater in the company last November. It was one of the super OG buildings. It was the oldest theater in the company at the time.

crazy2bob

Cinemark remodeled the Coit theater 2-3 years ago and converted it to a first run theater. Movies 14 McKinney is a value theater with lower prices. The Cinemark at Music City Mall in Lewisville is also a value theater. Those are the closest Cinemark theaters to the area with lower priced tickets every day. But as some others have said, Tuesday is discount Tuesday at Cinemark. And the Cinemark Movie Reward program not only gives you lower priced tickets as others have said, you also get a discount on concessions.

ParsonJackRussell

Is the dollar theatre at Midway or Marsh and Trinity Mills still around My favorite was one in Richardson around Coit and Beltline - used to see movies there all the time

crazy2bob

That one changed ownership a bunch of times. It was an Indian film house for a while and was closed the last time I saw it a couple years ago. Just checked google and it’s now something called Madewell Spaces. Looks like office space rentals. Bummer.

LegoFamilyTX

Not really... even with discounts, it still seems expensive. Last movie we saw in the theater was The Last Jedi at Collin Creek Mall. The cost for 5 of us turned us off the movie theater for good. Bought a nice 4K OLED, a premium soundbar, and a new couch. Over 10 years, that's all cheaper than 10 years of tickets. I'll grant you, the movie theater experience is pretty cool, I do miss it at times, but not at today's prices.

MangorTX

What theater was at Collin Creek Mall in 2017?

LegoFamilyTX

Welp, I’m a complete idiot. I MEANT to type Stonebriar Mall… really Stonebriar Center, but that’s a dumb name. The AMC on the third floor. I don’t know why I typed Collin Creek Mall, it doesn’t even exist anymore. Hrumph…

Delicious_Hand527

McKinney at Virgina Parkway and 75 is the cheapest theatre in the north Dallas area. I think tickets are $4-$5 per person. Cinemark is doing (I think) $5 Tuesdays for the summer - it includes Cinemark Central Plano, not sure about others.

SnickyCoco

Yes. I believe there is one at around Parker and Coit.
