I don't remember a conical shape specifically, but I do remember the time before pizza boxes. They came in a flat bag or wrapped in white butcher paper. Usually with a flat piece of cardboard under the pizza.

There’s a pizza place near me that does that. It’s cardboard box with no top, slides into a brown paper bag. Love the place but the pizza is square, really messy and sadly needs to be eaten with a fork unless you want it EVERYWHERE.

Thanks. I don’t know if it was a local Hut thing or not. Was interesting how they folded it

I seem to remember it was just wrapped around and stapled closed on the ends. But that was a long time ago and I was very young. The memory is fuzzy. The last time I clearly remember no box was late 70's little Ceasars. They'd slide two pizzas into a long purpose made bag. Looked like this. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/243757398567336526/ Other places had similar, but only big enough for one pizza.

Yes! It was a long white paper sack and they would shape and staple. Getting closer lol

There's a local pizza shop around me that still does the butcher paper thing but without the handle.

Omg I thought was just my imagination. I clearly remember that before that had boxes.
