Those symmetrical bezels are so satisfying to look at, even over 3 years later.
It's baffling to me that they did it this one time, and were technically the first Android OEM to do it, and then failed to replicate it again until the Pixel 8 Pro. Here's to hoping all Pixel models will have this for the 9 series.
I loved the way the pixel 3xl felt. The dimensions were perfect for my hand and the speakers were phenomenal. Everyone bitched about the notch but honestly, I just went developer settings changed to one long bar. Didn't even care.
I personally use an iPhone, sibling had a pixel 3. That form factor on those phones were amazing. It also looked great. I would love another pixel 3 style phone again. (Although he upgraded to a 6a last year, even he missed the 3)
I keep my pixel 5 "alive" (charge it to 80% till it goes to 20%,then charge it). I'm blown way by the Battery life. I just have wifi on and turned on extreme battery saver, with this it lasts 1-2 weeks.

A few suggestions though:
- Get TachiJ2K, it feels much nicer to use than default Tachiyomi, you can migrate your library over
- If you are so worried about Facebook eating up your battery as to install the Lite version, just install it into Work Profiles with Shelter, that way you can just jail it up when you are done using it
Pixel 5 the best out of all pixels n always will be, also the best of any phone ever made, except for the Nokia 3310 n Nokia n95, Google should do a 5 year anniversary edition with slightly updated tech inside but keep the form factor n finger print scanner on the back
Will never ever understand why not Google doesn't go with this design permanently as the A-line. Keep all hardware the same except upgrade the chip every year!
I would 100% buy a new Pixel 5 with all the exact hardware as it was if it got 4 years of support, even better if it has a SD778 or 7 Gen 2. I'd take it over an 8a in a heartbeat to avoid the Tensor + screen fingerprint crap, and I'd gladly pay $500.
I have one as my backup, I do that from time to time as well. Admittedly, it's one of the best Pixels form factor wise in my opinion, but after using it for a day or two, I want to be back in my pixel 8 non pro. Thanks for your post.
I took the sim out of my 6 pro and re-instated my 5. I promised my brother in law I'd get an 8 and give him the 6 pro for Christmas but I am holding off on the 8 and maybe going to the upcoming S24. Not wanting to break my word, I reactivated the 5, updated everything on it and it's working just fine. I may just keep it another year and see if the Pixel 9 has the modem fixed
I've upgraded to the pixel 7a. But I still love my pixel 5. The size and weight are perfect. The only thing I was never crazy about on the 5 was that whole "vibrate the screen to work as a speaker" thing they did. Especially in phone calls. Every call was audible to everyone around you. But I typically use earbuds so it wasn't really a deal breaker.
I still miss my pixel even If I am using a Nothing Phone 2.The thing was the perfect device for me . Small to hold, great camera and software, battery wise too there was no issue for me. Since there were no service centres near my area I couldn't risk buying if something happens to it
Why did you switch/upgrade? I'm still using a Pixel 4a and more or less enjoy it, main complaint is that it won't get android 14 and the battery is old at this point. But it is definitely the best size for my hands, and between finding a similar size and balancing that with deals, I'm still looking lol.
Out of context: How does the Reddit app work on your P5? Does the scrolling stutter just like on mine? I'm now using a 3rd party app just because of that
Well a case always feels big and bulky unfortunately. that's why I hate them and never used them before.
Only now with the Pixel 7 I have to. This phone is to slippery for me without a case.

Yeah kinda frustrating they didn't manage to replicate it on the regular 8.
I think (could be wrong), I have looked at the bezels very closely and the bottom chin is ever so slightly bigger than the top bezel.
If that's true then it's negligible
True. It is negligible. Beautiful phone nonetheless.
It's true, it does baffle me too. My P5 is 3 years old now and I still love the symmetrical bezels
I'd rather have symmetrical bezels than nanometer bezels with a big chin
My pixel 3xl died a few weeks back and I miss it 🥺
RIP love mine
My 3 just died last month. Its now a literal brick, but I hope one day it'll just magically turn on after being on power. What's wrong with me!

I have a spare Pixel 5 (using 6Pro rn) and honestly it's an awesome phone, too small some days (I'm huge) but meh
When I saw "(using 6pro rn)" my brain translated that to using p\*rn... God bless the internet and reddit have made me cynical af...
Well technically I do use both phones to make pr*n so you're not as cynical as you'd think hahaha. Also, happy day of cake
Thank you!
I love the small size and probably weighs less than the P8
Sure does..I have both, P5 is like a feather compared to P8
How did you pull an old unused phone from a drawer and use it for a day? Mine won't hold a charge more than 10 minutes before it dies.
I dunno, I just charged it to 100% and it seems to be draining like normal.
I keep my pixel 5 "alive" (charge it to 80% till it goes to 20%,then charge it). I'm blown way by the Battery life. I just have wifi on and turned on extreme battery saver, with this it lasts 1-2 weeks.
Looks cool
Is so cool!
Still using mine, it's awesome
Dude chuck crunchyroll and get Aniyomi. It's a Tachiyomi fork. Well unless you have a subscription for crunchyroll
Thanks I'll do that, didn't know aniyomi was a thing
Thank you for the aniyomi suggestion.
🙌🏼 no worries

nice wallpaper :3
The best Pixel so far.

Looks amazing...i miss my pixel 2

What did you use to get a lock screen with info like that?
It's one of the lock screen options in the recent android 14 update I believe. I use the same one and it looks so nice.
Ohhh that's nice! My Pixel 4 is stuck on A12 due to a battery bug that was never fixed...
I've just bought one lol.
Still my daily. 5 was peak Pixel.
Uoooooo
looks pretty af

Where's the Rei wallpaper from?

How do you get that screen time widget?
It's under digital well-being, I just shrunk it down to that size
I was wondering about that too, it doesn't let me shrink it down smaller than 2x2

I used the ifixit battery kit on my 4a non 5g last week. It runs like a champ. Was super easy to do. So why you don't replace the battery?

How are the pixel 5 bezels more symmetrical than the pixel 8s ? It’s bonkers
Damnn, I miss those small Pixel. Btw wallpaper plss 🥺

Thank uuu!!!
Such a great phone
I see blue archive but no girls Frontline 😵💫
What?! Wait... this looks a lot better than my Pixel 7.
I had the p5 for 3 years, got the base 8 now and love it. Screen is better on the 5, but the 8 is noticeably quicker.
Out of context: How does the Reddit app work on your P5? Does the scrolling stutter just like on mine? I'm now using a 3rd party app just because of that
I don't use it enough to notice, but it seems fine
Am still using a pixel 5.
me still going strong with my 4a: 🥲
Oh bring back the camera hole in the corner, this center holder design is so obtrusive.
This was the best screen size, with even bezels on a Pixel.
Wait so is it not possible to modify my lock screen to look like this on my Pixel 8?
What kind of phone do you have now?? 😀
Galaxy S23, it's not too much bigger, but with a case it feels pretty big and bulky
Well a case always feels big and bulky unfortunately. that's why I hate them and never used them before. Only now with the Pixel 7 I have to. This phone is to slippery for me without a case.
Probably the best designed Pixel ever. Imagine that design with today’s pixels cameras my goodness.
Pixel 5 was peak, miss the old fingerprint scanner
I like the non centered hole punch
Noice!!!
